How do you rotate your faves?  I thought that once you faved something, that was it, in perpetuity.  I can't see an unfave button.

imagekeyworder, although I think that development has stopped.

Kindly write in to [email protected] and we will effectively remove your portfolio from Pixmac.

I tried that but was advised "We could do an exclusion for you. But, by doing that exclusion, Your name and images will not appear in any of our partner's program site."  which is not really what I want.  Where do I go from here?

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Partner program sales strategy?
« on: July 01, 2010, 17:23 »
If, as Lisa suggests, the sales are likely to be additional, I will leave them for the moment.  The StockXpert buyers must have gone somewhere.  Yes, I don't like getting only 25c / sale, but it's better than 0c, if the sales really are additional.

iStockPhoto.com / Partner program sales strategy?
« on: July 01, 2010, 13:15 »

I notice that a growing proportion of my sales by number have been coming from the partner program over the last few months. This appears to have had a negative impact on my earnings.

Does anyone have any estimates of what proportion of my partner sales might be additional, and what proportion substitutes, at lower price, for regular iStockphoto sales?

Is there an optimal strategy for deciding which photos to opt in to the partner program and which to keep to iStockphoto?

For example, do cutouts do better on partner (in terms of attracting additional sales, rather than substituting for iStockphot sales)?

I have some photos that have good partner sales, but no iStockphoto sales. Should I take them off partner sales?

Strange that they updated on the same day as BigStock!

Veer / Re: 9 sales today at Veer

I have had the same thing -- 0 sales for months, now a deluge.  Sounds like foreign sales were lost in space and have now been found and applied to accounts all at once.

After an initial burst of sales last summer, Veer has been v quiet.  Review times are very slow but the results are no quirkier than other sites.  Is this going this site is going to make it out of the New Sites / Low Earners into Up and Coming any time soon?

Yes, that is good, but it still takes far too many clicks if you have a sequence of different pictures to go through because the keyword editing area stays at the top, and not next to the pic that ou are editing, so there's lots of scrolling up and down that I could do without.

Veer / Re: Upload limit
« on: July 29, 2009, 16:01 »
I have a good acceptance rate and would like to upload my better files from over the last year, but don't want to upload in dribs and drabs which makes it hard to keep track of things, particularly when they seem to go missing in action while they are being reviewed.  Can I upload more than my current limit, but only submit to that limit?

I see that some better instrumentation for contributors is promised (total sales, etc), which is obviously essential.

We also need to be able to sort our images by sales, views, sales / month, etc, so that we can see which pictures are performing, and which not.  Otherwise it is much more difficult to learn what Veer buyers are after and shoot / upload to their needs.

Thanks,

A couple of further observations:

 - SS continues to do well, a steady stream of downloads, but as they are all only at $0.30 it takes a long time to accumulate.  I'm getting a few more non-subscription downloads at other sites that pick up $1-5 at a time.  Even 123rf seems to be picking up a bit.

 - Trust your instincts; if you like a picture, chances are someone else will.  Photos rejected at some sites for low commercial value sell, poor cropping, or poor technical quality, do sell at others.

General Stock Discussion / 3 months in ... impressions so far
« on: September 03, 2008, 17:08 »
I started uploading to the more popular microstock sites in June.  Here are my impressions so far:

In that time my photos and workflow, or the care I take over them, have improved significantly.  I have also learned the pain of avoiding logos, people, etc, in pics.  I don't think that any of my pics have been accepted by every site.

Earnings are very low, but I only have about 50 images up and it certainly seems that some pics are very much more popular than others, although the most popular pics differ on each site.  It doesn't look like I'm going to retire on the proceeds, unless I get rather more consistent earners.

SS Just got in, on 2nd attempt, but already my pics are selling better here with only 9 pics up than on most of the other sites, despite paying $0.25/download, rather than the more normal $0.3x.  Scenic photos and still lives seem to work better here than on the other sites, which may prefer drawings / patterns / cut-outs.  The site is OK, but does not provide info such as the number of views.

IS High picture standards -- took a couple of goes to get in -- but accept resubmissions.  The reviewers are probably the best of the bunch; it is always pretty clear why a pic has been rejected, and the site has a good community feel (eg, others can rate your pics).  But reviews are very slow -- up to about 2 weeks.  Acceptance rate about 50% (and rising).

FT Low acceptance rate (40%) and poor feedback, so difficult to know what they are looking for. Reasonably quick reviews.  Identity of purchasers available (mostly European in my case).  Faster than average site.  Good stats (eg, views / day -- around 15, in my case)

DT Slow reviews (around 1 week).  70% acceptance rate.  Average sales.  Feedback on keywords leading to a purchase available.

SX Very fast reviews (minutes / hours).  High acceptance rate (rejections mainly for legal reasons -- they are stricter than some other sites).  Average sales. Useful self-promotion features can help sales. Friendly ambience.

123rf Clean but slow site.  70% acceptance.  Low sales.  A bit impersonal.

BS No sales. Very low views per image, if they are accurate.  72% acceptance, usually within a couple of days.  Images ranked by reviewers (OK / Good / Excellent).  Most of mine are Good, none Excellent.  Don't expect a number of my photos to sell, as they are annotated ("blurry, best at low resolutions") in a way that does not accord with my views.
