Hi
So you can only disable an image, but not delete?
On shutterstock you can just delete, but not on dreamstime.

Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe contact regarding the missing 1099
« on: February 20, 2019, 17:41 »
I emailed them yesterday,
so it is going to take more for me to get an answer...
problem is ...I only had like a few images, so I don't really make enough money..

Would this work if I go on the backend, and select >Data Type> Earnings
select period from> January 2018 to December 2018
Display> yearly
then I can see the amount.

Do they report earnings from january 1 to end of december of the same year?

Adobe Stock / Did Adobe/fotolia sent out 1099s?
« on: February 15, 2019, 17:32 »

Is tehre a way to download?

I'm cashing out my earnings, in the past they used to transfer to paypal pretty quickly...but how long is it taking these days?

iStockPhoto.com / How to delete images from account.
« on: March 01, 2018, 19:34 »
Hi, it's been a long time since I logged into my account.
I couldn't find my contributor account but then I found out it moved to the getty site. Finally was able to log in. I just want to delete my vectors.

Right...I think I'm getting it now.
The editorial cannot be used for commercial purposes, maybe they didn't have a property release.

So is it safe to say that if the other image which is not marked as editorial is okay to use for commercial purposes because the photographer probably has a property release or took the photo in a way that shows a generic view of the houses?

The editorial one has a plaque.
Note that the editorial one is also being sold as Royalty Free. Royalty-free is a license type, nothing to do with whether an image is editorial or commerical.

9
I'm not sure..is maybe a landmark? For instance adobe requires a release for famous landmarks, historic locations, and modern architecture.
Maybe this is modern architecture...
but the problem is that on dreamstime it doesn't say if the photographer got a property release, like they do on Shutterstock...

Why would this NY Brownstone  be  royalty free:
https://www.dreamstime.com/stock-photo-new-york-brownstone-townhouses-turtle-bay-neighborhood-midtown-manhattan-image85365626

and this "Brownstone homes" be Editorial?

A friend of mine was asking, why can't this be used for commercial purposes, and I wasn't sure...

My guess is because of property release? Something about these buildings?
Is there any photo of a similar street that could be used commercialy?

Hi,
this site offer their licenses with extended license for use in templates that can be used in tempaltes. Pretty cheap. I got really curious. They are based in UT

Is that a legitimate micro???

Hi,
Is there any agency with a end user agreement that would allow this type of usage?

Like placing a photo of a person as a "placeholder" on a POD / Zazzle invitation, where the buyer swap for their own photo?
Like in this example:

https://www.zazzle.com/s/photo+graduation+invitations

I see a lot of shops on zazzle using photos that look like they are from microstock or public domain. But the way the licenses are so tight these days, I don't know.

Or is there any photog selling packages for this type of usage?

These small agencies, publishers, small business looking for design work are not making that much of a profit...they all use microstock. Even the mid sized do. I was lookign at a bird/ flower magazine, just by looking at credits all I see is all microstock. Rarely a credit to a photographer.

IN my limited experience answering a request, I endedup being harassed and nickled and dimmed and insulted, even when I said no...because they can't understand why you're selling something for cents and then quoting 1000 dollars for an illustration. And they can't understand why you won't work with them, because  in their heads "is so easy to draw whatever" and then it  becomes email drama, a waste of your time.

So much bull...

we all had to update or send our tax form for the 1099 last year,

everybody remembers this,

and because some of us were late we got a stupid "foreign" form.
They promised that this year we would be getting the correct 1099.

I didn't do anything with that 1042 past year, nor did with this one for this year, I wouldn't worry about it...totally uselless, first it doesn't have our Social Sec number or EIN so I worry about it....The amount of mine is ridiculous anyway.

 I needed a 1099, didn't get it on time,
went and did my taxes, the folks at H&R did my taxes without the form, HR told me not to worry,as long as you are reporting all the money you are receiving.

Envato / Re: Another Envato Tax question....
« on: March 30, 2017, 10:04 »
Denounce them for what?
They are probably doing this legally, they are not stupid.

But why make it so complicated????
A phone to the IRS can quickly give you the right answer.
Yeah, a phone call.

Believe it or not, the IRS folks are really nice on the phone, and you could explain the situation and I'm sure they can transfer you to the right deparment.

Denounce them to the tax office for fraud!

Okay, they told me the 17th...
It is not there for me! Did you check yours?

i still have that 2015 stupid tax form. My earnings for 2016 I only made a ridiculous $46.15 from january to december.

The deadline to do taxes is coming soon, I work a day job and I can only go to H&R on my days of which aren't that many.

Has anyone called the IRS to ask what to do in this situation? If anyone does, please post here...I was reading the article from Forbes, I might do my taxes without this 1099. According to the article is okay to do, as long as you report all your income as you always do.
What you guys think?

These articles are about the same thing, but is worth checking out.

HI, I was able to talk to someone from 123RF via contributor support....

the answer:

the form is not updated to the website as of yet. Their IT / Finance team are currently looking into it and trying to make available as soon as they can...
the person assisting me told there is not a date yet for this...

ON a side note, my husband just wants to kill me, cause we're just waiting on this form. And the joke is on me, cause I only made like $50 bucks of pizza money...is like the wait is not even worth my time, but I must.

Hey thanks...
maybe something changed...In the past I have received a 1099 for royalties less than $10 bucks...

But I guess they are really late, since we are in march. It sucks. I'm deleting all my images from there. Too little money x too much hassle to get a 1099.

From the IRS web site:

Specific Instructions
File Form 1099-MISC, Miscellaneous Income, for each person to whom you have paid during the year:
At least $10 in royalties (see the instructions for box 2) or broker payments in lieu of dividends or tax-exempt interest
At least $600 in:
   1.   Rents (box 1);

2.   Services performed by someone who is not your employee (including parts and materials), box 7;
        3.     Prizes and awards (see instructions for boxes 3 and 7);
   4.   Other income payments (box 3);

   5.   Medical and health care payments (box 6);

And we are supposed to have it by Jan 31st. They are late and always have been.

It depends on how they report, if is royalty earnings they do even if you earned two dollars.
I think if they report as non-employee comp is that is over 600...in any case is a mess.

I have to add that this 1099 whole thing is a mess....It is possible that my sales were only to Non-USA buyers, I don't know how that works.

*** In any case, for curiosity....

Zazzle was doing 1099 and this year they informed us that in order to comply with the IRS, they are no longer sending those to people who receive money via PAYPAL, because then is the merchant responsibilty to report in a 1099K if the person made over 20K in sakes or 200 sales I believe. The ones getting checks will receive 1099...

In the US, they are only obligated to send you a 1099 if you earn more than $600 (at least I think so!)

When I look I only see the 2015...
I know is ridiculous, I only made $46 there because I only downloaded a couple of images and forgot. Is already march 1st and there is nothing there...
Should I contact them to see if I"m gonna get a form or not?

Can I fit a collection of paintings / drawings in a single property release?

In the description of the property, could I just say "collection of 100 drawings as shown in Exhibit A, B, etc, and attach these extra pages with thumbnails?

I might have 500 paintings/drawings... How would do this?

General Stock Discussion / Re: Question about release for artwork
« on: December 27, 2016, 15:57 »
I see so much wrong with your argument...

You said if someone wants to contest your ownership of that painting, you have the original to prove. You're only speaking for yourself...because not all artists keep originals. I explain why:

SCENARIO -

I can lose all my paintings in a flood, or fire or maybe goats ate it.
If I'm a fine artist I will probably sell my paintings in galleries or sell to collectors and keep my files.
It is Standard practice for fine artists to sell originals. Yes they also sell giclee reproductions, plus they license the artwork either with traditional agencies or places like fine art america etc

Artists  will always be the COPYRIGHT OWNERS AS A DEFAULT BY law---UNLESS they transferred copyright TITLE to a new owner. But that will not stop other people from bringing up claims to an agency.

A property release will release the agency from any claims from say a collector who purcahsed an original painting and thinks he owns copyrights, and will ensure that a person who inherited someone's Estate has the right to upload images to the gallery, and there are many other scenarios I can think of.

Physical paintings are property just like a car or a house and agencies are treating them as such.

They require a different approach from computer generated paintings.

it looks like is more of an indexing site, but at a closer look it seems to let people download thumbnails from agencies...
Is not well programmed or intuitive...but if you click on an image You will get something like this:
