Thanks!

It was the fact that their is a "stats" tab separate from the "financials" tab that I was forgetting and your comment brought it all back.  Who would think that you would find your annual earnings somewhere else then in the "financials" tab?

Ugh!  Trying to do my taxes and my bookmarked link to the page that has the downloadable spreadsheet file no longer takes me where I'd like to go.  Is that report just no longer available or did they hide it away somewhere?

Its been ages since I've done anything there other then request a payment so maybe I'm just misremembering where it is?

Thanks!

General Stock Discussion / Re: A list of partner programs
« on: January 27, 2014, 11:41 »
Sorry not to update sooner, but I'm no longer able to post process/upload stock (wrist problems) so I don't come here all that often.  Given that its 10 months since my last update and I could only find 2 new items to add, not sure that I'll make any more updates to this list.  Please continue to post updates here anyway since they will help everyone else.

Here is what I updated.
1-27-14 added Pixersize to Fotolia
1-27-14 - added FeaturePics to Pond5

I found my images at Vector Backgrounds, and apparently they are a partner of some sort with Shutterstock?

http://vector-background.com/

Their pricing links just go to Shutterstock as do any download links - so other than a coupon code for 10% off, it's not clear why they exist.

Does anyone know anything about them? Is this just a link farm/referral fee farm?

Same sort of thing from Vectors 123

http://vectors123.com/author/Jo%20Ann%20Snover

Looks like its just a link farm as the transaction appears to take place at SS.  Since you end up having to complete the sale at SS, I did not add them to the list.

I just wanted to add a detail.

It is possible at Panthermedia to opt out of Partner Programs, you find the checkbox here:
http://anbieter.panthermedia.net/pm/mediarights

(it's under "general settings / distribute to PM and distribution partners)

Amazing list. Thanks a lot for sharing it.

Another useful info to add IMHO in the 1st post/list, right below 'opt out: yes/no" would be if the agency shows the income from partners (Yes/No). So, if you get to know how much did you make from partners.

Have a great Sunday.

If somebody compiles the info, I'll post it.

Looks like this site is finally dead.  I get the following message when I try to access the site.  "It works!  This is the default web page for this server.  The web server software is running but no content has been added, yet."

123RF / 123RF Georank - Yuck
« on: June 07, 2013, 21:19 »
123RF is introducing geographic weighting to the search, based on the country of registration of the contributor.  See the announcement from the newsletter below and the link to the press release.

Can't wait to disambiguate my incorrectly associated images.   >:(  Really, I shot that teapot in France, and then flew to Brazil and shot it again, that's why it should get geographic weighting in both regions...

"NEW: 123RFs New Search Tab: GeoRank and how it affects you?

123RF has just released a new search ranking system called GeoRank a couple of weeks back (refer to our Press Release here). GeoRanks purpose is to float up results from contributors that are closer to the region of the buyer who is making a search and will produce a more localized search result. For example, a buyer in Europe searching for business images would get more European models compared to when the same search is conducted in USA.

For the time being, GeoRank takes the geographical information from a Contributors registered country. We understand that this has a few shortcomings - What if you shot the photo in Canada and the buyer is in USA and youre registered in Europe? To overcome this, we are rolling out a CSV import tool that you will be able to use to designate which images should be GeoRanked differently. So stay tuned for more developments as we crank up the accuracy of 123RFs GeoRank!"

Ugh.  This idea makes me feel ill.  I won't participate here if people can find out who I am.  I don't post anything anywhere under my real name including Facebook and other social media because once that info is out there, its out there.  Maybe I'm overly paranoid, but I worry about it.

If I had post under my real name, I also would never have pulled together the list of partners programs since there is no way to know how companies feel about having that info out there compiled for all to see.  Since nobody else thought to do it, that list probably would never exist and we'd all be the worse for it.

I'm empathic to those who want to know who the person is behind the post, but ultimately what is said is by and large judged by the substance of the post rather then who the poster is, so that anonymous posters with something to say rise up.  Of course, we've all seen the extreme opposite too where successful contributors or microstock admins dismiss somebody with something useful to say in a forum because they have not achieved "enough" success or have not uploaded enough recently or whatever.  That chills the discussion as much or more then anonymity and gives an excessive amount of power to those at the very top.

Leaf, I'm empathetic to your concerns about what might get posted when you are not around and understand if you don't want to wake up in the middle of the night concerned about what somebody might have posted.  I do however think that $5 a month is pretty steep and I would not pay it.  I associate that kind of a price structure with an ongoing service somebody is providing like an online magazine or movies on demand where the provider is incurring costs on an ongoing basis.  I suggest instead a one-time fee when somebody wants to activate the right to post anonymously.  If set high enough, this would give a  barrier to entry that your ordinary anonymous jerk would not be willing to pay, but would give mild but paranoid people the opportunity to be responsibly anonymous.  I became a premium member here to support the site.  Maybe one of the perks of being a premium member is the right to post anonymously?

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Vector Royalty Rates Increasing
« on: May 15, 2013, 16:53 »
So paying a bit more than obscenely low vector royalties suddenly became sustainable again?  So does that mean RCs for independent contributors no longer matter?

Anyone think images will follow?

Irony rocks!

Maybe the photographers could hire their own antipiracy enforcement firm to collect from Canipre?  ;D

I'm shocked to learn that Istock's buyers are seeking simplicity.  Who would ever have thought that?   ::)  Good thing we never had any discussions about ineffective price sliders (in 2011?) or any other way to simplify the customer search experience that resolved the problem.   ::)

A quick glance shows potential upside for my popular + files.  Kind of a DT structure.  One question is how long will images stay in an elevated category if they dont sell?

Earnings have been published.
http://finance.yahoo.com/news/shutterstock-reports-first-quarter-2013-200500835.html

No time to read now, but earnings per share for the quarter were $.18 while the analyst expectation was $.16, so this is pretty good news.

Ok, thanks, Ill keep that in mind.

Now we just need Dreamstime to come forward and accept industry standard releases.
Maybe this will be the push they needed.

Sounds like istockreseller.com .  I'm sure the micros aren't willingly participating in this.  You'll get downloads, and then a fraud refund later.

This sounds right to me.  SS has no incentive to help somebody who buys a 25 download a day package actually download all 25 images, as they would lose money.

I'm also getting a huge number of hits from Beijing.

Don't forget that from axing me, there are now many thousands of dollars in the pot being spent on others now, which may cause a false growth indicator.

Known as the Locke Effect.   ;D
