What is the sub price now for HD and 4k video?

Is there a difference?

I couldn't find it.

My personal best seller at SS had daily sales until one day it didn't - it went from a top line on page one for a one word search to nowhere in the top 10 pages one day and the sales went away too.

Ditto

Has anyone managed to change yet. I am paid in (British) and when I clicked on the arrow and went through the payment stage and entered PayPal email,  I didn't get any options to change when I got to the end stage and confirm the payment to Paypal. I didn't confirm as I was confused and didn't want to mess it up.

You don't get any option to chose. The change will happen for everyone after the 28th.

Sorry. I misread the line........If you wish to request a payout in your current currency, please log into the contributor portal by February 28, 2023 end of day and submit the request by clicking on the arrow next to Available Earnings in the dashboard...... as an option to choose. My mistake.

Pond5 / Re: Variable HD Prices Again???
« on: October 12, 2021, 17:28 »
I just noticed that the HD versions of some my 4k clips have various price ranges. I aways have the same price for 4k so the HD version will be half of it. Some are higher and some lower. Have P5 been changing prices again?

That happens to me all the time, some at asking price and others well below.  The negotiate with bigger clients for cheaper pricing nd we agree to that when we upload.  They also will lower your price to the lowest of other micros if your content is found there.  And sometimes you get more than your asking price based on negotiated rates and, I assume, how the image is used.

Thats not what I am saying. I am aware of this. The HD footage should be set at half of the 4k clip when you edit them. But when I looked at some clips for sale recently, the normal selling price is different and has changed. Has this happened to anyone else. Unless you go into the edit tab on the Upload tab you will not see the HD price.

Not a surprise. They have not listened or responded to the contributers for a long time. They were regarded as a pain, who might want to challenge their perceived wisdom. Who wants to listen to the truth when you are trying to rule the world. It's comparable to a country banning independent media.

Also got a 0.10  which gives me 0.02 net.

Mat,

1. It says that you are submitting your work for consideration to be included.... Can you confirm that if the contributor submits photos,  all their files will be included in the Free Collection or will Adobe  filter a certain amount from your approved collection.  For example. You will take all 50 from the nominated or hand pick from the 50

2. What is the size of the photo collection in the Adobe Free Collection

Cheers

No one is going to pay for an image on one site that he can get for free on other sites

This seems true until you factor in laziness / apathy or pure ignorance that an image is available for free on the part of many buyers.

I am assuming that the customer is paying for this service, an annual or monthly fee for x amount of photos. So the photos are not really free.

13
Mat,

I see in the terms it says the photos are sold under a commercial licence. What does this mean? How does it compare to standard, enhanced, extended licences?

Cheers

14
Mat,

How does this affect the working out for the free Adobe subscription offer based on downloads?

Cheers

While all the fire at the moment is understandably on the commission cut, some of the other clauses bear close scrutiny, especially when we remember how semi-innocent-sounding clauses ended up being used by Getty.

For example:
"4.1.5. except for any rights that have previously been licensed or granted in relation to the Content, there is not and will not be during the term of this Contract, be any limitation or restriction on Alamys ability to license the Content;"   which would grant them the right to sell images we designated RM as RF, which obviously conflicts with RF-exclusive contracts elsewhere.

"4.1.6. any use or exploitation of the Content by Alamy, a Customer or a Distributor will not be, or be deemed to be indecent, obscene, defamatory, insulting, racist, offensive, indecent, vulgar or violate publicity rights anywhere in the world."
I don't see how that can possibly be legal, but presumably PA have had their lawyers look over the new contract.

I have read 4.1.5. A few times. I am not sure what it is saying. Is it not matter how the content is licensed they can change it to suit themselves?

Alamy.com / Alamy Infringements Team Email
« on: April 29, 2021, 11:36 »
See email text below:

New Alamy Infringements Team

We know how important it is to protect the use of your images against unauthorised use. Here at Alamy, we now have a dedicated Infringements Team in place who will shortly start working with multiple Partners to maximise our potential and secure payments for these images that are being used without a valid licence.

We'll pro-actively be looking for any usages that we believe may be an infringement.

This work will primarily be happening for the images in our collection marked as 'exclusive to Alamy'. You're receiving this email because you have at least one image marked as such.

Please can you confirm your preferences below.

Preferences:

You give Alamy permission to chase any potential infringements that we find from this group in your collection without notifying you first.

or

You also license the use of your images outside of Alamy (from your own website for example) and Alamy need to advise you first regarding a potential infringement before we pursue it, so you can confirm that an existing valid licence is not already in place.

Very bland FAQs that gives us no idea what we may earn from this plan. I am assuming it will be less than normal though........

I would be great if Adobe did not rearrange the order. Lightroom is so much better than bridge. I use hierarchy with synonyms.

Newbie Discussion / Re: Sole Trader or Limited Company
« on: February 08, 2021, 09:41 »
You say you would have to pay 40% on the income. Don't forget that you can offset you expenses like travel, lighting, heating, software, camera equipment capital costs ..... If you have recently started then your costs will be more than your stock income. In this case you can offset this against your tax from your main job and possible get a tax rebate.

Don't look at this as a some sort of scam. This is what the HRMC legally allow you to do. Don't forget, when you buy a new camera you have already paid the government tax..ie VAT etc.

I have to admit I found the claiming expenses strange at first coming from a PAYE job before, and I was amazed what you can legally claim for.

I am a sole trader.

It depends how much money you make and the risk. As a sole trader you are totally liable. Limited Company directors seem to take less pay and get paid a dividend on top to avoid tax but have added bureaucracy and costs.

I am happy to do my tax return and sole trader suits my circumstances. I would not take a single persons advice from this site but speak to a professional ...an accountant. HMRC had some helpful information.

One thing I would suggest, is to make sure you have public liability insurance. Its not expensive

I have left this site but just found out that I was affected. I never received a email. I assume because I was no longer with them. I missed this thread.

Just be aware even if you left before the hack you will be compromised.

Got a 34c today for video. Makes the 60c one look good!

  :-X

It's your own fault for leaving them online at SS while you already know for weeks they're selling for peanuts, so why complain here when you can also simply remove them?

I was just pointing it out. I know what SS are doing.  I do not upload footage anymore and will remove my portfolio in January. Not sure its my fault. People on this site are very quick to blame others and be negative to others. One of the reasons I don't really follow this forum as much as I did years ago. No doubt I will get negative quotes back. Seems the way of the world now online.

Curious to know what people are getting paid for on demand sales.
Yesterday I got two, $2.75 and $3.28. I am level 4.
I was not expecting that much to be honest, but apart from that it is a disaster...

Just got 10c on demand. The same as the subs. I should feel lucky that I also got 50c demand. Wow.

I haven't deleted as I have invested so much time uploading content in SS. I am a wildlife photographer and my sales are pretty low compared to general stock contributors. My content has a more limited market.  Some of the content has cost me 700+ in trips to produce. I will not be adding any content to SS but will allow my portfolio to sell in the hope of covering some of my costs. I find in takes a few years to earn the cost of the trip back. I will be uploading new content elsewhere.

When I started uploading my photos some 8 years ago, I had 11 sites. This has reduced over the years. Some didn't sell well and some treated their contributors badly. I now have 3 sites I upload to. I don't see it improving.

I got my first 10c today on a 500+ trip. Stock in not an option for me to make money any more let alone cover my costs.
