Canva / Re: Canva .25 and .48 One-Design royalty
« on: July 21, 2020, 00:43 »
As mentioned by others here, we offer local currency pricing in some markets and these can be more or less than the $0.35. The values are also affected by forex conversion at that time.

DannyCanva - Could you please update on the issue of missing subscription earnings (as reported in this thread: https://www.microstockgroup.com/canva/canva-announcement/msg554484/?topicseen#new)?

When the subscription earnings were loaded by Canva for May-2020 in the month of Jun-2020, the subscription earnings for all the prior months going back all the way to May-2019, was reset to zero. This resulted in the 'Unpaid earnings' in the 'Payments' tab to reduce by an amount which is the total of all the subscriptions of the months from May-2019 through Apr-2020. I have asked Canva about it, but I have received no response as yet. Thanks.

DannyCanva - Letting you know that Canva support (Ana) was able to get the required details from me last week and confirmed to me yesterday that the issue I referred is fixed. I was able to check my Canva account and the fix has worked. Thanks.

Same here.  I asked Canva to fix it - no reply for several weeks.  This week I got an e-mail "we want to close this topic, please notify if you have more questions about it".  Hahaha, of course I have more questions about it, they did not even reply, let alone fix it!  So I just repeated the request and the wait starts again ...

Thanks Anyka. I guess we just have to wait until they fix it  :)

Canva responded to my query last week. I provided them screenshots of the monthly sales pages and the payments page. Yesterday they confirmed that they have made a fix. I checked the sales pages and all missing subscriptions have been restored. The unpaid earnings on the payments page is also accurate. Even though it took some time for Canva to respond, their fix was complete and accurate.

« on: July 08, 2020, 10:31 »
Hello,
Hi - Has anyone quit iStock in the recent times? I understand from this thread (started a year ago) that iStock would pay any remaining earnings in the account even if it is less than 100 USD. Could anyone please confirm? Thanks.
I quit my IStock/Getty in October 2019 an got my little dollars without any problems (payout was not reached).
They also payed me sales which occured after my account cancellation im may 2020 (without asking them), beause the deletion of all files can take up to 6 months.
I quit in September 2019, and also still get a little from time to time. And they make payout every month, if there has been any income. The lowest pauout I had was $0.05  :)

In May there was even a $0.18 refund, because a sold file was changed to a cheaper subscription. Luckily for me there was enough from Connect to cover the refund.

Thanks Jens G  :)

I've done it. After 15 years and six months I finally gave them the boot.

I hung in there so long because they were my first agency and taught me a lot, so I didn't like to part from them. Also, I felt that having put the effort into uploading the files, I might as well let them earn as much as possible. However, all the bizarre deals they have that seem to let my files go for fractions of a cent etc etc, and now the backdated refunds, leave me wondering whether I'm not giving away some stuff that people would pay for at other sites. Some of my work is sufficiently different for it not to be easily substituted by somebody else's - not a lot of it, maybe, but some.

With the latest earnings down to less than $30 this month (for about 6,000 files, I made more than $10 in my first month with just a few dozen shots) it's not a major loss. Maybe it will lead to an uptick in sales as Shutterstock to compensate.

For those wondering what happens to the balance of earnings that iStock holds, it seems they will be paid eventually. The form for terminating the agreement states:
I confirm that I want to have any outstanding royalties issued on the time specified by my Agreement (most standard agreements specify any outstanding balance is to be issued within 90 days of your request to close your account)

How did you do it? I want to quit too! I have there about $70.

alexandersr - Please check page 1 in this thread for Reply #10 on: September 20, 2019, 07:03 . It is a reply from BaldricksTrousers, stating what needs to be done.

Photos took a hit today (you'll have to scroll the chart).

Possibly as a result of Africa Studios removing their 1,162,088 photos.

Thanks. The scrolling of the chart did not work for me. I right-clicked on the chart and selected 'open in a new tab' to see the full chart which worked.

If you run windows, why not using the free antivirus that comes with it: Microsoft Security Essentials or Windows Defender (for W10)?

Thanks Zero Talent ! I will consider this as my Norton 360 will expire in a couple of months !

I think the main selling point of some of the others is that they are free. Norton seems to do the job fine and I am lazy.

Thanks Justanotherphotographer :-)

I have been using Norton and now Norton 360 to be specific. But, I find a few names that I am not familiar with. Could the few who use non-Norton products let us know what are some of the advantages / plus points of using these non-Norton products ? Thanks !

Longer term, were working on developing an integrated solution to break out these downloads with more transparency.
...
Would be nice if the "Longer term" efforts also include realtime reporting of iStock sub sales (and not the currently followed next-month-bulk-reporting) considering that the credit sales will decline even further.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: PP delays
« on: October 29, 2015, 03:45 »
About a couple of months ago, I saw my total under 'Account Balance' (in the 'Financials' tab) go up by 18 cents. I could not find the details of what sold in the 'Stats' tab, under any of the months (all the way through March-2013 when I started with iStock).

I hoped that once the PP run completed I would be able to spot the sale that gave me the 18 cents. I could not see it and one more month and PP sales also has passed.

Yesterday, I totalled all my 'gross royalties' in the 'Stats' tab for all the months from March-2013 to October-2015 and when I compare it with the 'Total Earnings:' in the 'Financials' tab, there is that difference of 18 cents (Total Earnings is more than the total of monthly gross royalties by 18 cents).

Has anyone experienced this in the past ? If so, can you tell me what I may be missing or overlooking ? I can raise a support ticket with iStock, but just in case, I may be missing something, I thought I will check in this forum.

Thanks !

Shutterstock.com / Re: Large image previews on SS ?
« on: October 23, 2015, 21:36 »
The preview is the same size - it just no longer upsizes to fit the browser width

Thats correct. If you click on "show image" it's still 1500px on the wider side.

I just checked the iStock large preview (zoom) and noticed that (1) the large preview image is smaller than the one at SS at 1235 pixsels, (2) the large preview definitely has a stronger watermark and (3) the preview image does not autostretch to the size of the computer screen.

One hopes that SS will do something quickly about the watermark strength and the autostretch issue that renders the images (looking) very unsharp.

I just looked after I read your post, and I can see it too. Very nice.
Yes Jo Ann; I think it is a nice feature. But, the larger preview looks a little less sharp than the similar sized version of same image from my laptop. Do you also see it that way ?

I looked at several of the images and my browser (Chrome, Mac) appears to scale the image to the full width of my window, which means for a preview of a vertical image, I'm seeing it at way more than 100%, which does look a bit squishy and has artifacts. If I Save As the image - which has the image ID and a a note to download from SS at the bottom, so it's not creating orphans that a buyer will have a hard time tracking later - at 100% it looks as I think it should.

I'm seeing 1500 pixels on the long edge as the size they're generating
Thanks Jo Ann  :) I see all that you have described happen on both IE & Chrome on Windows 8. The vertical images seem to suffer more than the horizontal ones due to the scaling of the image to fit the screen.

Shutterstock.com / Large image previews on SS ?
« on: October 21, 2015, 09:41 »
Just about 30 minutes ago, I am beginning to see an icon in the shape of an eye named 'Preview' appear on the bottom right of each image in SS on the detail page. On click, it brings a real large preview. Anyone else see it ?

I stop submitting on Thursday evening and start again Saturday night or Sunday morning. smaller batches might also help.

That's essentially what I do as well.
I do this too. I feel that this also ensures that the approved images can be seen by buyers before the work week ends. Images approved late on Friday or over the weekend may not get to be seen much.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: New One month subscription plan
« on: October 12, 2015, 01:40 »
While the total number of subs from iStock has remained more or less the same (for me), I am seeing the portion of PP subs declining while the portion of iStock subs is on the rise. This would mean less revenue from subs also, as iStock subs give me 28c all the time, while PP subs sometimes go well beyond 28c if the customer had bought some different image pack.

Unless iStock tells us that iStock subs also may pay us more than 28c (depending on the subscription pack bought), we should see a decline in the subs revenue also. Even if iStock did this, the revenue decline will be seen since more subs and less credit-sales seem to be the future.

I am not sure if you had a chance to look into this thread initiated by Scott Braut when he was at SS (http://www.microstockgroup.com/shutterstock-com/former-exclusives-interested-in-joining-shutterstock/) which was about 2.5 years ago. It mentions a blog entry (http://www.shutterstock.com/blog/former-exclusives-interested-in-joining-shutterstock) which is still there. There is an email id ([email protected]) that is mentioned. I don't know if it is still active.

Hi there,

A) Yes, 0 people would be correct in this case
B) A public beach does not count as a property that would need a release for commercial use

Hope this helps.

Cheers
