stop say stop
You are right, it's unpleasant to receive all those dry suggestion to stop uploading there. Those suggestions come from painful disillusion about SS because  we had placed so many hopes on that site, and not only hopes, suddenly we saw disappearing consistent incomes. If you think that working with SS is profitable for you then you'll have to deal with their systems, often automatic and for sure always very hasty.

It was very interesting to know about this. Thank you Everest

In our times I would think very carefully before investing a certain amount of money in equipment just for stock footage.
It could be very complicate to reach the breakeven.
I would rather think first to my needs for other assignments, then I would invest, eventually, my time which means money, to upload and tag stock footage.
You probably have red the situation of the market nowadays.

Yes. I deleteri Alonge clips

5
I deleted all my clips From SS. I cannot consider a sale the payment of few cents for a clip. Im not satisfied for that. I feel its very sad. Its just that it will never pay the time of shooting, keywording and uploading. Its not a job any more.

6
I only had footage on SS. This month I had 7 sale at 0,84 $ and 3 sales 0,96 $.
This happens before the January new system. At these conditions it's not interesting anymore to have my work on SS. So I deleted all my clips here.

Hi,
I am deleting my images on Shutterstock one by one. You probably know why ....
When checking it the next day, I still find many of those images that obviously have not been deleted. They are offered by shutterstock as "Get these images for FREE. Download this image now with a free trial."
How is this possible? Does anyone know how I can get these images deleted permanently?
Your help would be greatly apprechiated.

Might take 90 days to delete, in the contract you agreed to.

I manually deleted 6,800 assets with no limits from SS.  Used the script for the stills and manually killed 2300 videos within two weeks.  I bet they fk with us more by formally limiting how many assets one can delete in a given period.

Hi Mantis, can you tell me the procedure to delete video assets? I only see the way asking SS to delete my account but I would like just to delete my asset by myself as you did.
Thank you

Click on the "portfolio" icon and select "Catalog Manager".  In there you click on the video tab.  Once your videos come up, click on the pencil edit icon on top of the thumbnail.  Your video will open. In the upper tight is a trashcan icon.  Click it, then click yes to confirm deletion.  Go back to Catalog Manager and start the next one.  I can get through 100 videos in about 15 minutes.

Thank you Mantis.
More job for SS. I will delete my clip. What a pity. This month I got 9 download at 0,96 $. That is before the new system. It's too much.

A lot of us is experiencing 1,5$ sales from Ashburn-USA
Does anybody know which company is based there?

serge,

many western nations have tax treaties that allow one country, such as the US, to tax you even if you live in another country.

if your nation doesn't have such a tax treaty with the US, then you have to pay the tax. if your country does have a tax treaty, you have to present a certificate of residency to videoblocks to avoid the tax.

if you look at the list of nations that have such a tax treaty, it is going to cover just about every modern country, including most of europe, australia, etc.

You need to have a "certificate of residency" to prove which country you are paying taxes in, and present it to videoblocks, if you want to avoid having taxes withheld. for example if you look at IRS form 8802, you can see on the last page a list of countries which have a tax treaty with the US for withholding taxes.

For European citizens the required document is called w-8ben

Incase you want to share with friends/family

Remember to drop a mail, instagram note, tweet to them as well.

Points
- no new uploads till we get a price increase/custom pricing/commission increase
- don't download from SB, Head to P5 or others
- tell us what you'll be doing to push up sales

Now we are 99 who signed. We can do a bit better. Come on!

Well spoken, Noedelhap.

Plainly most people get it. If everyone who reads this thread sends an email or signs the petition and gets friends/peers to sign, then that is a significant number of people pledging to stop uploading or even delete their portfolio. Whether or not Videoblocks actually changes their policy, the point is they'll be made aware that cutting commissions means they will lose contributors, content and their good name. NOT responding to a massive, insulting commission cut sends the message to ALL stock companies that they can cut commissions as much as they want and we won't say a word (which is the more accurate definition of a sissy). By action or inaction, we inevitably MUST send one of those two messages. Seems a simple choice.

The petition link again: https://www.change.org/p/tj-leonard-videoblocks-don-t-cut-people-s-pay-in-half

We are only 91 contributors who signed the petition.
I think that all of us should give the signal that we don't agree with the decision SB communicated us.
Signing the petition is costless, if we are many contributors signing, SB will take the disturb to read about our disappointment.

I signed the petition.
I think that they cannot tell us that they'll pay us a 100%  commission to convince us to upload and then after they have enough clips to go to the market  they change the agreements,
it's not fair. They treat us like stupid ones.

Pond5 / Re: Pond5 Limited Licensing Program

There is also a tab that I didn't notice before.

Optimized Marketplace Pricing
Yes! I would like for Pond5 to price my Content and modify my prices - up and/or down, to take advantage of trends in the marketplace to capture incremental revenue opportunities. Please see section 3 of the Contributor Agreement for additional details.

Anybody opted in to this?

Haven't tried it, but I'm interested in hearing where it puts prices, and how they are determined.

In my case the most profitable agency is Shutterstock, there I got sales of very different values so low like 6/7 $ up to 100 $ which .
Globally gives me at least 5 times more than Pond5, so does it depend from the prices'?
I think it depends from the search algorithm. When I buy clip I find easier the search results in SS.

Pond5 / Re: Pond5 Limited Licensing Program

I don't see the problem with Pond5 offering this kind of time-limited license. It's not necessarily a bad deal for contributors. Of course it's lower royalties per license than a standard license because this is time-limited. Apparently there's a demand from their customers, so why wouldn't they offer it?
How can Pond5 control any kind of misuse of the license? Our clips are not like movie that you rent and than automatically disappear after use.
Anybody can download our clips and then use them as long as they want. Who can check it?

I received that mail.. looks like those new customers will use our content at a reduced price with restrictions in number of uses and only in digital media

I sent a mail to ask them how  can they check if the e restriction terms are respected by the consumers  and what is going to be the price of the clips under LLP

Pond5 / Pond5 Limited Licensing Program
« on: November 02, 2017, 03:25 »
I received  an email with the invitation to participate to this Pond5 Limited Licensing Program.

"...Over the last year, we have seen a dramatic increase in the number of companies requesting content specifically for digital-only, short-form, ad-supported projects. To make sure our Artists can capitalize on this trend, we are introducing the Limited Licensing Program. This program will provide these buyers access to a range of clips and media for a set fee, in exchange for highly restrictive use."

No news about prices. Apparently You can opt out after the program will start

Anybody else did?
Thoughts?

General Stock Discussion / Re: Pond5 claiming they overpaid me!!
« on: October 30, 2017, 17:14 »
Same  here, they said that they had paid double fir an upgraded license.

20
At this point, considering that many of us experienced this occurrence,  would be nice to have a public point of view from Videoblocks/Storyblocks.
It seems like other sites don't experience the same situation as frequently as VB/SB

21
It happened to me for the first time today.
I don't think it can be a problem of stolen credit cards.
Who is going to be interested in downloading with a stolen credit card some clips or photos?
If we were speaking of goods like telephones or something precious I can understand it but with clips I cannot.

Istock is dangerous.
You are going to be paid so little like 1 or 2 $ for the same clips that you could sell for 20 or 40 dollars.
I feel like it doesn't pay to put your work in competition with yourself and be paid nothing.
I took all my clips down from istock

23
I got the mail but no credit were added  :(

Not working in Italy but the worst is that neither the www.shutterstock.com is working. So not selling now

25
It's just too bad.
I opted out from Adobe/Fotolia "low prices for big company affair", but it seems that it is not possible with SS.
They will also lower a lot their income. It must be that they feel obliged in following this running to the bottom.
