Adobe Stock / Re: Sales at Fotolia

Fotolia 43.000.000 images database
your images: 100
= % 0.0002325581395348837

What a primitive way of thinking...

BTW, in case you didn't understand my question properly... sales pattern in different sites are different, SS starts selling right from day one, 123RF takes some time (at least my experience, can be different for another one). I just want to know how Fotolia works.

No it is not.
100 Photos about Easter or 1000 images (you cover more (many) topics.)
1 Images of a Landscape or
10 photos of a landscape suitable for different purposes.

With 100 products open a supermarket and
ask yourself why do not appear first customers.

I do not know your images (quality). Perhaps market rules do not apply to you.

Photodune is kind of awesome today for giving us full 100% commission on their birthday!  It actually makes a pretty big difference in sales for me.
less sales makes pretty small difference for me.

madman - yes
ShadySue - i don't think symbio is now a threat to big agencies
Sebalos - that is why i said about investing.
Maximilian - prices similar to other sites but higher percentage for us, there would be a lot to discuss. maybe to avoid hassle with inspecion of each file we could for example accept only trusted contributors considering their portfolio.

I have no plan just the idea but if you say it is bad let's stick to the topic, sit in a circle and hold hands; my name is Anna, last month i've earned 2grands less than in the same month last year.
Your turn now  ;)

We could start with a market. Also no buyer would join.
But we could use a trick.
Many images are used for prints.
We are many, we can upload a max size of 4000 pixels to SS, FT and all others.
We will earn the same and we could also start a contributor collected marktplace.
Once a customer needs an image size for printing then he is forced to buy this from our contributor page.

One idea. Now your turn.

Instead of crying how bad they treat us while we let them, why don't we invest in OUR stock site?  We could have good prices, comparing to top tier cause no ceos holiday sponsoring, only fee for site maintenance.  We are creative minds capable of good and big ad campaign in media. I think customers would like the idea that they pay straight to artists pocket, avoiding addicional agency fee.
Is it possible?

just thinking out loud..

Bad idea. Who will decide what images are at page 1?
We accept all images? You know my first 100 images was so bad you will not believe how ugly.
So we accept ugly images too? "My images are the best" i thought some years ago :)
Image price as regular market prices? I can already hear some msg members cry about. "Set up the prices starting by $30 for small sizes".  ;D
You can contact a new agency you like, tell them about this msg idea.
Maybe they give us 50% of this new company.

From a business perspective that's logical?
How many images of old cameras are still needed?
Modern and contemporary motifs are much more in demand.
And this image is cut at bottom.

Interesting. I may give it a try.

Let us know if you received your money or not. I do not trust them.

Their offer "Upload Your Photos AND GET $1,000" is still available.
A graphic artist i know contacted them 2 weeks ago. Asked them to upload 7000 images and he asked for more than the measly $ 100..
No response yet. How can someone trust agency that simply ignored a message :)
Thank you and Goodbye   >:(

Microstock Services / Re: Which is the best payment method ?
« on: August 10, 2015, 07:35 »
I also use PayPal and credit card (Visa). I don't convert USD in EUR. I live in Romania and when I withdraw into my bank account via credit card the USD or EUR convert automatically into LEI/RON (our currency). The fee is 2 EUR or 2.5 $.

It is a little bit hidden (hidden costs).
Paypal charges fees automatic.

USD 100 = EUR 91,16
But Paypal converts from USD 100 to EUR bank account just 85,68 (instead of 91,16)

Do not convert at PayPal. Their rates are robbing you. What I did is opening an USD account in a bank in my country so I withdraw without converting. Now I'm keeping an eye on the USD/EURO rates (waiting for Greece to do something stupid again) and convert my $ when I'm satisfied.
Did i miss something? Are payouts to bank account possible?

;D Testing with only a part of your images is NOT working !!!
If coca cola would sell in just one small city with just 20 bottles..
That`s not working.

Yes many many posts are just "not good" and make "less sense".
Most times i see the same people posting again and again the same **** (things).
New, small agencies are made down immediately.
People sell fewer than 300 pictures and complain about things that.. you know what iam talking about..
One day they hate SS or FT whatever one day they love it!
One day they sell less and get angry about. Next day they love the agency again..

My entire port is deleted. I have my eye images online and thats it. They rejected 1000 images. The rest is processing or pending cut out, its a mess. Surely there are some images that are good enough. Feels like Thank you for being a beta tester, now feck off.

Wow this sounds too bad. Can`t believe this story. That`s bad.

SS still pays more. 38 cents compared to 25 cents. I am only a little touched by the generosity  ::)

No that's not correct - you are comparing the top tier at SS to the bottom at FT.  They both start at 25 cents, and FT ends with diamond at 40 cents while SS stops at 38 cents.  So they pay the same at the lowest levels while SS pays less at the highest - your statement is dead wrong.  It has been harder to advance at FT in my experience but with subs now counting as a full DL that is changed.  With the new method I should be up a level but they still have me listed at the old one with a negative number of DLs required to go up - hope they get that sorted out soon.

FT diamond needs  1.000.000 downloads!!! How many contributors are diamond? Come on please. Stay realistic.
