Stocksy / Re: Is it worth uploading to Stocksy?
« on: November 27, 2023, 05:51 »
Hi Daniel,
I have 11k images in my portfolio, if I am a full-time stock photographer is thanks to Stocksy.

My sympathies, Ramin.

Hey, I like those hand drawn elements mixed in there.  That's an interesting take.  Do more of that.

Thank you Sean!
i drew those sketches on advice from a Stocksy friend. It was the new year's day and i had left my camera at home and i started to freeze the moment in that way (drawing). She saw those sketches and she said to me that Stocksy would love that. So, in march, i started to draw again after leaving the art academy for the photography academy. It could be a lovely excuse to start to draw again! :D

That's an incredible start. I see why you were accepted.

I agree with Sean, the hand drawn stuff is really cool. I would love to see you take that and run?

Thanks, Sketchyt! i appreciate you appreciate :)

So finally I received a replay. My application was declined. Although it was bad news, I feel much better now. Uncertainty and long waiting were more difficult for me. I sent them a question regarding my application before and I was surprised that they sent me also a very kind answer to my email.

I don't know if I will try again (I can send next application in December). I'm not sure if I will be able to prepare new application and work for microstock together. I had great difficulty with it now and I'm afraid it will be the same next time. Perhaps I'm not able to do it. Stocksy and microstock are very different and it seems that I can focus only on one way of working.
Omg Magdalena, i'm so sorry to hear that. Don't throw the towel and try again in december! or try offset like Cobalt said! What kind of porfolio did you introduce to them? still life or lifestyle or food or?

Almost 3 months waiting! Are we sure they are going to reply to all of us? Out of the blue, i'm going to feel sad and nervous!

I hear ya sister! Been waiting just as long and I check my status on their site regularly. I'm going to start drinking now, maybe that will help......well, can't hurt, cheers!
lol! Cheers, Bro! A beer for every F5 had been hitting!

9
They are working through the huge backlog.  I believe that there were 10 or so new members added last week.

Thank you for the answer, Sean. I'm breathing a sigh of relief!

It will be 11 weeks for me tomorrow. When I tried last year I didn't wait so long. May be they have much more applicants now and it is more difficult to select the most suited photographers.

Same for me, 11 weeks tomorrow! The more i wait, the more i want to be a stocksy contributor!

Hi!
I applied on June 16th and I'm waiting and waiting... Yesterday I discovered how to add next images to my application and I decided to do it so I uploaded my application twice. I don't know if it was wise or not but I'm very tired out already so I wanted to try it. I hope it wasn't a mistake  :-\

Did you add new images on the same application of two months ago? That could be really interesting! :D

13
ahah :) i'm holding back a lot of images too. I'm hoping to hear them back soon and start to upload and have access to the stocksys forum, i'm so curious about that!

14
We could all say our name and others could say back "Hi" like an alcoholic support group.
So, Hi! my name is Giada. I made my apply 2 month, one week and two days ago and i'm pushing F5 on my e-mail page since than! :P

Congrats mark. That's great news! Can I ask how long the review process was for you?

Hi Jodie,
Thanks.
I got my acceptance email about 4 weeks after applying.  If I remember correctly they said the process would take 1-2 months so they're right on schedule.

Congrats Mark! i can't wait to see your work on stocksy ;) I made my apply 7 weeks ago, so i think you impressed them since you heared them back in 4 weeks :)

My application status is CA-PCA. Anyone know what that mean?

Just a little "UP". Does anyone know what that mean? I searched it on the net and the "California association pest control advices" site comes up upon my face!

Hope you're right! Good things come to those who wait  :D

And if it's not Stocksy, it's Guinness:
Good things come to those who wait... Guinness
(and other ads in that series, my other favourite being:
Guinness Surfer Ad (with Horses) 1998

The guy on the second video has the same look of me while pushing F5 on my keyboard to check my e-mail. Since june 17!

How long did you wait for a response? i made my apply on june 17 and i'm still waiting. I know they say it could take 2 months, but i read that some people heard them back in 20 days

I sent my application June 16 and I'm still waiting too. I'm afraid I will be very disappointed if I will receive rejection after two long months.

I think that maybe are "skimming the fat off". Maybe we passed a first selection and now they are deciding if let us join or not. It's all a big Maybe :/
