we're not allowed to submit ai created content to shutterstock,, but how do they recognize that if i run the image through ps and embed my own metadata?.

will they detect it and, reject it? would it cause a ban?

"received 0 response which is unusual"

that is very usual, their contrib support is non existent and if you get a reply it is from the thickest person youve very come across. i wonder how they manage to breathe.

that place was a cess pit, everyone was rude under the guise of 'just honest critique', it was not, it was a place full of bigheads seeing it as an oportunity to completely trash anyone with a subpar photo. the place was not to help people but to put people down, all under the leadership of rinder,, who is a bang average photographer himself, and just manages to use one filter setting on photoshop for every portrait image he ever took. and barry blackburn couldnt take a proper photo himself but thought he was the authority on giving critique, yet all he could write was OOF.  and i could go on and on. might as well post the thread where 'seasoned' photographers were bikkering over the colour of the sky. one said cyan the other said blue and it caused ww3. so many 'classic' threads, but in reality it was all just blown up egos thinking they were better than everyone else. who was that guy from UK, couldnt figure out where he ended and rinder started, so far he was up rinders anus. so many vile persons on that forum. i think the only level headed person on there was that ex cop, shot some nice food stuff, but then turns out he conspired with rinder about leaving the forum only to come back again, leave again and then got banned or something, the drama queens. hahaha, what a soap opera

Off Topic / Re: The Hummer Thread

Continuing the 'Hummer' thread from the SS forum which will soon expire in late October. Hopefully, there will be some wildlife discussion here and all manner of other topics too. And also a place for people from the old SS forum to hang out.

For those of us who were not regulars on the Shutterstock forums, could you outline what the topic/purpose of the Hummer Thread is?

off topic chat thread, just chatter, wont take off here knowing the audience, but maybe with the influx off ss posters it might get some traction,

15
thats not copyright infringment by the way, i dont think its legally wrong, it just pissed off istock, just be careful what you post here under your real name

https://www.microstockgroup.com/general-stock-discussion/did-a-test-a-istock/

actually he let someone else submit his images that were rejected for him and then they got approved lol

17
no rinder didnt buy his own photos, i think rinder submitted photos from someone else to prove that his photos would be rejected for no good reason

....

Well, I'm doing a trial now to get to the bottom of this. I've deleted all my specialised clips on SS (not many as I've just started). And I'll exclusively upload future specialised clips to AS to see whether I'll start making sales there at better price.

If I make no sales on AD in the next 3-4 months then I'll upload all my clips back to SS.

unfortunately, that's not an experiment that can produce any real conclusions, as it doesnt allow a control (and such would be difficult due to low volume of sales in general and other factors - outside events, time of year, etc) - removing from SS & making sales on AS are independent variables esp'ly with such a small sample. a possible study would be to have a significantly arge number of artists, half removing SS videos, and half not. (even then there'd be different results due to quality, topic, etc)

your choose how to proceed, but you cant make any conclusions based on resulting sales

Exactly right. Well said, Steve.

but you were happy to use your sale of one image as proof  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I'll jump in to tell you about this very recent experience.

One of my images that Adobe Stock selected a few weeks ago for its "free" collection, and for which it paid me $5 today Dreamstime paid me a royalty of $1.75 for it.

That DT sale was obviously not huge, but the buyer paid more than they would have as a "free" image on AS.

So I'm pleased that, in just the last couple of weeks, I've made $6.75 off that image more than it earned over several previous years.

Does that insight help?

one coincidental sale of an image in a pool of a billion images.... yes that is the kind of odds to bet your house on

Just wait for it. If you critisize Shuttertock while being a contributor, eventually you will have some people on your throat blaming you for the downfall of the industry, because you have not left SS.
No place is without its downsides. But at least you won't get banned here for speaking against any agency.

you will find that you will get your account suspended instead. agencies have lurkers on here and they just kill your port if they have the slightest idea who you are. ask a few on here, fotolia was notorious for that, in particular matt, who now works for adobe. istock does the same. rinder had his istock account deleted when they found him boasting on here. jo ann and others were banned from fotolia. i am sure there are more examples, people who were rioting against istock with the google deal, fotolia with dollar club. etc. best take this as advice or  a warning

finally, what a beautiful day

Each month this year payments from the SS have arrived no earlier than the 5th and no later than the 9th.

people have no patience

i absolutely hate 2FA, but it is really necessary to keep your crap safe.  it makes the whole paypal is quick and easy argument moot but it is a necessary evil

you can complain all you want that you dont have a mobile, but at this point is take it or leave it. 97% of americans have a mobile phone, no company is going to keep archaic and unsecure login measures for a dozen of customers.
