Stocksy / Re: Is it so simple to get in?
« on: August 27, 2020, 16:44 »
I got into Stocksy on my 2nd try so don't give up after only one rejection.

Rejection is part of this business.....just received my 4th one from Offset.....finally got the hint though.

Interesting.  I shoot macro and landscape, no grannies or hipsters, no people of any kind.  Bright to average colors.  Been with Stocksy for 6 years; best agency sales I've had in over 20 years of doing stock.

What am I doing wrong?  :)

Any word on this?  It's been awhile.

4
Thanks Martha.  I was able to get to it via Chrome.

Mark

No luck with Safari or FF.

Maybe it's trying to tell me something.... :)

6
All I'm seeing is the Dashboard for my regular (micro) account (if I'm signed in) or the landing page for Adobe Stock (if I'm not).  Typing in the URL gives me a 'can't find server' notice.

Hi Mat,

This is great news.  But, I don't see a way of submitting an application specifically for the premium collection in the link you provided.  Maybe I'm just missing something.

8
Stocksy.   :)

Sensor dust is not going to show as white so you may be missing something the editor is seeing....?  Or, the editor is way off base.

I assume you view your images at 100% to check for that stuff....

General Stock Discussion / Re: do you audit your agencies?
« on: May 13, 2018, 11:06 »
Requesting an audit implies a lack of trust.  Why stay with any agency you don't trust?  Request an audit on your way out the door.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Wemark hows it going
« on: April 29, 2018, 15:40 »
With the photographer selling directly to the buyer where does the licensing agreement come in to play?  Does Wemark have standard licenses that the buyer agrees to or is the contributor supplying their own?
Or, are their any?  Dumb question, perhaps.

as i said...5 millions of commission and 4000 contributor already....math is not an opinion. but how many can earn in stocksy 50 60 thousand dollar year...

Where are you coming up with the 4,000 contributor figure?  Stocksy is closing in on 1,000 contributors, FYI.  Or am I misunderstanding what you are saying?

Can any stocksy contributor confirm that the earnings are near Shutterstock, AdobeStock or Pond5 ... or better?

Well, you'll just have to take my word for it but my SS earnings (I left 3 yrs ago) never came close to what I am earning at Stocksy.

Stock is a roller coaster ride, some months are (much) better than others.

New Sites - General / Re: FiveDollarPhotos.com

You boast of a high royalty percentage but, in all honesty, 75% of $5 isn't much.  If you want serious consideration, particularly if you are touting high quality imagery, I would set your selling price considerably higher.

I wish you luck but it will be a tough sell.

To everyone frustrated with the wait, I understand what you are saying.  But, remember one thing.  Stocksy is image exclusive so any image you may have there (and its similars) cannot be placed anywhere else.  Stocksy wants to make sure that both parties benefit from an acceptance.  In other words, they want you to sell.  They are taking their time to make as certain as possible that you will have every chance possible to be successful there.  It would be a disservice to you for them to take you on knowing that you may struggle there; to have your images gathering dust rather than working for you somewhere else.  That evaluation can take time; give them all the time they need to make a careful decision...it's a win for you whether you are accepted, or not.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Input for a Getty petition
« on: November 03, 2016, 12:45 »
I left Getty and iStock awhile back, can't say I miss either one.

My only advice, for what it's worth, is that if you are going to sign a petition don't do so in anonymity....use your real name, let them know who you are.....carries more weight that way.

Of course, by doing so you may run the risk of retribution but is that the type of company you really want to work with/for if that should happen?

If I had a million good marketable images sitting around I sure as h*ll wouldn't give them to a microstock site.

Stocksy / Re: Stocksy seeing huge growth!
« on: June 04, 2016, 12:48 »
why would a co-op report sales publicly? how does any agency pay 55% of gross collected revenue when royalty rates are 50%?

i smell a rat.

There are many exceptions to the 50% royalty rate, it's often times much higher.  Look elsewhere for that rat you smell.

When will stocksy accept video? I herd it's in the pipeline but that was said ages ago!

It's still in the pipeline but coming soon.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Are the good time gone forever?
« on: April 10, 2016, 09:51 »
I can think of one agency in which the 'good times' are just getting started..... ;)

IMO, you get out of it what you put into it; relevance, quality, and quantity all play a role.

You also need to diversify; stock alone rarely cuts it these days.

Excellent stuff!

Maybe focus more on the film stuff you have (http://ninamasic.com/film), that seems to be the direction VSCO, oh I'm sorry, Stocksy likes.

No VSCO in my (or most Stocksy photog) portfolios.....although it is starting to grow on me... ;)

I've been with Getty, iStock, SS, and Alamy in the past.  None came close to the income I've been able to generate at Stocksy.
