Your pain is just starting...lol

But it's ok, it's like jogging.  You expect to be sore after it's over, but it's a good thing over all.  Or not...

Thanks everyone.

Congrats on iStock and do keep working on Shutterstock - it's absolutely worth it.

Oh, absolutely.  They're showing as #1.

Thanks

Since you all gave me so much assistance, I thought I should let you know that as of this morning I have been accepted at IStock.

Thanks so much to everyone for all their help.

Now I just have to conquer Shutterstock with their 7 of 10 deal.
 :)

This one uses the tutorial and the sharpening suggestions.

What do you all think?

Hi,

In camera raw processing module in PS find section responsible for noise reduction (section 'Detail', under sharpening). There are 2 sliders - one for colour, second for luminance. As far as I remember luminance is always 0 by default, so - on 100% view - change to 30-35 and check results. In your case - you can start with colour's slider and then apply luminance, slightly less.

Pav

Luminance is set to 0, Color is set to 25 and Color detail is set to 50

Thanks so much, I like that a lot.  There's just so much to learn.

Well it's a set of actions put together by me and they do many things. However, you can play around with layer masks and gradients and do something almost similar.
Try for example adding a new transparent layer, set blending mode to "soft light" or "overlay", and drag a black-transparent gradient over a part of it where the sky is, see the effect. You can start from there :)

So kind of like this?

Or you can make the sign pop a bit from the image, like this (if you see banding is because it's saved with high compression):

Ok, so can you tell me how you did that.

much better . . . .  congratulations.

On an image like this you want to create an "Edge Mask" so you can sharpen only the edges and not the sky.

Thanks Etah, I'm assuming I can do a search for an "Edge Mask" tutorial and figure out exactly what you mean.

How about this one?

The only difference between this one and the first one is a wb adjustment in Camera Raw.

Ok so let me ask.

Is the noise in #1, #2 or both

#1

#2

So are we seeing noise in these 2??

Could a bad Polarizing filer cause this?

Help!!!!   What am I doing wrong, why am I getting so much noise?

Canon T1i, 18-55mm lens

I'm doing no sharpening, no noise reduction.

I'm importing the files, open in Bridge, move to Camera Raw, open in Photoshop, reduce size and save to jpg with quality 12
 :(

is it a jpeg compression problem? are you saving the file at maximum quality?

In Photoshop I'm saving with quality 12

In that case, don't add people.  I wouldn't want you to be the first person to die for microstock  :D

LOL, I'm enjoying this day.  This is the first time I've actually had an image that didn't get flamed (and I mean really bad).  Maybe I'm actually learning something.  Nah, probably just got lucky.

Aren't you here to get your images flamed  ;)  The white balance looks off from my end.  The right side looks like it has the edge of the glass and background showing, probably shouldn't be there.

Well hopefully not, If they all get flamed then I never get to apply. :o

Correct.  Don't specialize in drinks, because you absolutely need different subjects to pass the entrance test.  Add at least 1 people shot.

People shots kill me, yuck.
