Cameras / Lenses / Graduated ND
« on: October 05, 2008, 08:53 »
Anyone have any experience with Graduated ND for landscape photos?  I have a Cokin filter holder from 35mm film days and was considering getting a Graduated ND for it.  I have read on other places that the Cokin ND filters often introduce a magenta cast into the photos, and the common recommendation is to use a Hitech filter instead.  Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Lee

iStockPhoto.com / too feathered or too rough rejection
« on: March 29, 2008, 08:37 »
Anyone have any suggestions on how much to feather an image for Istock to either avoid this rejection or to edit an isolation for a resubmit?  Does the size of the object come into play for example a macro type shot or a full sized item?

iStockPhoto.com / artifact avoidance
« on: November 13, 2007, 20:47 »
Lately at Istock I seem to always get the inspectors with excellent eyesight who always seem to reject for artifacting the same pics that the other 6 take.  I shoot in RAW with a Canon XTI and post process with Photoshop Elements 5.0.  I was led to believe that after the most recent version of the RAW engine came out, that doing the majority of the adjustments was better in RAW than inside Elements after the conversion.

The only two controls that I am unsure of their effects are clarity and recovery.  Do any of these two have more possibilities in introducing artifacts?  Any work flow suggestions would be appreciated.

LuckyOliver.com / Firefox, fireFTP and LuckyOliver
« on: August 11, 2007, 20:09 »
If anyone else uses firefox and fireFTP could you try to connect to LuckyOliver via FTP and see if you can connect.  A couple of days ago Firefox updated to 2.0.0.6 and now fireFTP won't connect to LuckyOliver, I have tried downgrading firefox, and downloaded 2 other FTP programs (cuteFTP and smartFTP won't connect either) with the same results.  Its really odd, because fireFTP still works with the others that I submit to.

LuckyOliver support has said they would look into this and check for problems.  It seems if it is a firefox related problem, others would have it as well.

Thanks,

Lee
