Adobe Stock / Adobe Verification Code
« on: February 24, 2021, 14:43 »
Every. Time. I go to check on Adobe Stock I get a sign in message that I need a verification code to go further and then the screen goes straight intoto my account without a code.   The code is always sent to my email though.  If I could enter it one time maybe I would stop getting the message, but where the heck does Adobe want me to put it?  It only happens on the stock site, not with software login.  Has anyone encountered/fixed this?

Adobe Stock / Adobe Terms
« on: April 02, 2019, 15:11 »
Signing onto Adobe today and I'm asked to agree to terms.  Anyone know if something has changed or is this something that wasn't agreed to with the Fotolia/Adobe merge?

Is 62. new?  I thought I could pull the plug at any time and no waiting period.

62 Managing Your Work. You may remove any of your Work from the Website at any time, provided, however, that you do not remove more than 100 items of Work or 10% of your Work, whichever is greater, in any 90-day period without 90 days' prior written notice to Adobe.  We may remove Work or terminate your account at our sole discretion without prior notice.

And 9.1.  As a Canadian - has this always been the case?  Does a Canadian Company pay me and how do I receive a T-5?

9.1. Relationship. If you reside in the United States, your relationship is with Adobe Systems Incorporated, a United States company. If you reside outside of the United States, your relationship is with Adobe Canada Services Corporation, a Canadian company.

Video Equipment / Sofware / Technique / Footage help for tonight.
« on: December 05, 2018, 16:35 »
Okay friends.  I write disclosing what will be obvious.  I DO NOT SHOOT FOOTAGE.

Backstory, my daughter (14) is dancing at a concert tonight for a new artist who happens to be blinded when his school was bombed in a war.  This has made us extra sympathetic to him and understand that he just needs a different level of help that the rest of us do.

I told him I would take some shots at the show (complimentary) so he would have the best "half dozen" for his package.  I even said I could take some footage at rehearsal so the dancers could link it up on social media where quality, size and expectations would be at a lower standard.  I was basically thinking with my phone.

I know what it is like to be an artist, I've produced plays with a ten cent budget, begged & borrowed with gratitude.

So.... we have already had this conversation:  "You don't send a dentist to remove your appendix.  You don't send portrait artist to film your concert" - he knew my feeling about that, but last night he begs me to bring my gear so that his friend that works in tv can shoot the concert.  Awkward.  I am sympathetic to him and genuinely want to help, but man oh man - I can't make a living if my gear takes a walk.  I tell him he has to rent video gear for the guy.  I tell him I'm not giving someone else my camera, no way.  Then I realize maybe old body.....   (but later realize that the body isn't that important my freakin lenses sure are.)  I tell him the camera guy MUST call me.  Finally calls a bit ago.  Just as astonished as I but willing to do what he can.  He also wanted to rent gear and they are over budget.

So, DSLRs are a new game to him.  He's bringing a laptop to dump the cards (frequently!)  I only have one 128 Gb and the rest are 32.

- No mike (overdubbing the footage anyway)
- No gimbal or steady cam
- Limited memory with writing speeds of 90 to 160
- Yes Tripod
- Yes monopod
- Yes 15-55 2.8
- Yes 65 1.8
- Yes 70-200 2.8
- Yes 50 1.8
- Yes Sigma 50-500 4-6.3

Body D7000  Sure
Body D810 (maybe if I am leashed to it)

The Sigma and D7000 are NEVER EVER used and should be put up for sale.  I have little attachment to them except for purpose of D7000 as a backup.

Anyone have any kind of advice?

- wont' need any filters - polarizer, nd ?

- which lens (I want to limit this to one or 2)

- Do I just set to Auto and hope for the best?  I don't know what a cameraman can do with a slr when he's trained for tv video

- Usually my cameras sit in RAW mode.   No clue what I set to.

-  Will they be able to edit this footage with the software a real videographer uses?

- Which lens?  The video guy asked for zoom.

If I remember the D7000, was the focus fixed maybe or something that was pretty flawed?

D810 will track focus won't it?

I leave for the venue in a couple hours.   Hopefully we can figure anything out during the hour sound check.  Like I said awkward.  I feel like my phone would be a better option, it really does take acceptable video if not zoomed in and you don't touch the screen after you set the exposure.

Really, thanks.  If someone has a second to put me a bit more at ease.   I appreciate any tidbit of help you can throw at me.

Love ya, Lorraine

Dreamstime.com / DT Refund
« on: November 22, 2017, 11:24 »
Don't you just love it when sales have become sooo bad.... like very close to -100% bad.....   and you get a refund for $6.44 and it takes you to a negative balance for the month?

I rarely follow up on these things... but I looked for the sale.  This photo hasn't been download since 2016 and never for $6.44.

Do they remove all traces of both the sale and refund?

GLStock / GL Model Release
« on: August 29, 2016, 10:40 »
Wondering about releases on Graphic Leftovers.  A high percentage of my port is model released, I sent a batch last night but I can't really see an option other than uploading the release but not attaching it to anything?  Is that correct?

If that is the case, can I just upload my entire release library and then send my daily limit with the images?

Adobe Stock / Amazon - My-handy-design & Fotolia
« on: May 11, 2016, 22:35 »
What exactly is my-handy-design and why do my images appear on Amazon poorly placed on dye-sub products like iPhone covers and clocks?

At first I thought it was a crafter, but they have almost 3 million products.  I think it originates from a European country, because Canada is spelled Kanada.

iStockPhoto.com / Recently Licensed files that Were Removed
« on: March 28, 2016, 18:12 »
I removed all my portfolio but one photo in May 2014.  What am I to make of an e-mail from Istock TODAY that states:

"Dear Contributor,

The following file(s) were recently licensed to an iStock customer in a transaction that did not occur through the website:

4062630
4213720

We have made an adjustment to your account and added your royalty from the license(s), which totals $1.66."

The only photo on sale does not have these numbers and note the word "recently".

Here's a link.  To think that I'm one of the poor saps that paid for Viveza then got a free upgrade to the collection.

I am stubborn and still using CS5.  I've had a couple new hard drives and a challenging Windows 10 update.  But, just before Windows 10 update - Illustrator stopped launching.  It used to say something about a missing registry file, but now the Illustrator badge pops up, it will say cannot complete the requested operation and disappears within a couple seconds.

I use Photoshop, Bridge and Lightroom every day.    Also InDesign still launches.

Anyone know if I have to uninstall everything and install again?  Or do I just pop the disk in and run a .exe file from an Illustrator folder.  I'm afraid to do too much in case I mess up Photoshop and lose all my presets.

Yes, it's a legal copy.  No I don't want to go CC (yet) and I don't use Illustrator often enough to pay what they ask for it on CC.

Thanks!  (I'm turning into my 90 y/o mother, afraid I might break the computer if I push the wrong button :)

The word "unlimited" makes me uneasy.  Has there been an announcement about this?  (I mean - an email or contributor's notification?)

Shutterstock.com / SS Default Popular in Portfolio
« on: February 19, 2016, 13:58 »
How the heck do they define "popular"?  This is my default popular on SS.  I clicked through from the contributor site and was quite surprized, and then checked again after doing a "Hockey Kid" search and it's the same.  (But the "see all hockey kid photos from" my port is a nice touch.

A common theme seems to be that they are mostly lower leg shots with no faces.  Why would photos that might have sold a half dozen times (and not even recently) be ranked as popular?   I have other photos that have sold hundreds or thousands of times.  Wouldn't that be a more accurate definition of popular?

Adobe Stock / Fotolia Sales vs Subs
« on: November 27, 2015, 10:41 »
File Sold ...
Purchase License: XXL
Commission: 0.29

Not - it was NOT a subscription, yet $0.29 for an XXL!  What's up with that?

This is what subs look like
File Sold (Subscription)...
Purchase License: M
 Sale Price: 0.29

This is what credits look like
File Sold ...
Purchase License: XL
 Sale Price: 10

Edited to add another weird one.  Credit Sales are normally credits, not a $ value?
File Sold ...
Purchase License: M
 Commission: 0.941599999999

Subs are in $, Sales are in Credits.  Either a glitch in how they explained it was sold, or an underpayment.  Only credit (?)sale today so I can't check any farther than that.  Anyone else?

Veer / Veer Upload
« on: April 11, 2015, 13:19 »
Twice this week I have uploaded a few photos with the web uploader.

Both times my "New" area started with 0 photos in it.   Today I uploaded 2 and 6 have appeared - 1 from this upload (not both) and 5 phantoms.  Last time I uploaded 5 and 17 appeared.  Thankfully they are all mine, but where did these ghosts magically come from?

Also - my uploads all have the wrong upload date on them so I can't even logically sort them as they were produced to see what is live and what is not.  Some of my oldest files are dated April 2015 it looks like over 90% of my files are November 2014, even though they were approved when the agency first opened.

So, do I delete these phantoms or will they be removed from on-sale?

There isn't one single agency I have more trouble staying organized with than Veer.  You would think that being a Corbis company they would have the basics down!

Illustration - General / New DeviantArt Site
« on: December 09, 2014, 10:30 »
Okay - I'm not terribly familiar with it, but I have to admit that when I stumble upon the site deviantart by accident I can get trapped spending hours there browsing art.  But something about the design of the website caused me to never take the place seriously.

Then today I see this article and watch the video  http://www.creativebloq.com/logo-design/artists-respond-controversial-new-deviantart-logo-121413651.  I think whoa, looks like they have really moved into the current era.

Nope, revamped site still looks mid 1990's to me!

Do any of our illustrators have work here?  Is it more for "show" than to sell?  I think I might have bought some fire brushes here in the distant past.

Adobe Stock / Managing Model Releases on Fotolia
« on: November 14, 2014, 11:29 »
What a mess, is there some way to organize model releases on Fotolia?  I have dozens of releases and it becoming a total aggravation finding and attaching them. I upload and sometimes they are placed at the top of the releases pile, sometimes in the middle, sometimes on the bottom.  There is just no sense and I cannot see any way to sort them.

Am I missing something, how on earth do people with HUNDREDS of releases handle it?

New Sites - General / Graphic River Invoice
« on: November 06, 2014, 14:51 »
I've never paid "cash" on Graphic River before (vs putting money into account to spend later),  so this is the first receipt I've received that looks like this.  What does the designer make on this?  It was a $9 item.  Seems very weird - I suppose the $1.8 is a service fee (on top of their Handling fee!) and the seller gets a percentage of the $7.20?

Description: Deposited $10.00 via paypal for:

Handling fee $1.00
Buyer fee $1.80
Item purchase $7.20

Invoice Total: $10.00

Bigstock.com / Big Stock - How to Stop Partner Sales?
« on: September 03, 2014, 10:29 »
I don't want these stupid sales from Caf Press and/or Zazzle that I get from Bigstock.  I intended to delete just the photos that are selling frequently over there, but I cannot see a way to delete one photo at a time without contacting support.  (Ya, we all thought BS would be brought into modern times when Shutterstock purchased them.  Ha!)

So... I went and cancelled all third party participation (or whatever they call it over there).  Problem is I'm still getting these sales for merchandise.  Does anyone have any idea how long they state to remove images from partner programs?   I thought after a month these sales would stop.  Also, how long does it take for the reporting to come from these third parties?

If I want MY photos on Caf Press, I will place them on Caf Press into MY account!

Bigstock.com / Bigstock Partner - Single Unit Merchandise
« on: December 30, 2013, 14:52 »
Has everyone been getting these sales?  Wonder why there are so many of them this month and where they come from.  The credits I've received are quite small, from .53 - 1.06.  Not sure if I'm thrilled, but if it is really only one coffee mug on Zazzle for example it's not entirely bad I guess, better than buying a sub and printing 10,000 of them.
