iStockPhoto.com / Istock is making it even harder for exclusives.
« on: November 19, 2015, 22:43 »
Have you seen the new the carousels?

Under Signatures images:  "Explore Essentials everyday images at our lowest price"

Under Essential images:  "Discover Signature elevate your work with our best images"

Let's be honest.  We all know there is no quality difference between exclusive and non exclusive images. And basically, the difference between Essentials and Signatures is in most cases just a matter of exclusivity vs. non exclusivity.

This carousel is just another punch below the belt to exclusives.

iStockPhoto.com / New One month subscription plan

This subscription plan would definitely kill the few credit sales we still have.

It seems to be available in UK.  Anywhere else?

General Stock Discussion / Just thinking aloud
« on: August 17, 2010, 18:44 »
Sometimes, when looking at the latest uploads at IS, I find images which have been uploaded the same day.  Though I wonder why it happens, it doesn't annoy me at all.  I've always thought it must be just another glitch in the program which makes some uploads get first in the queue...  But what I do find very annoying is that many times these images happen to be from inspectors, who curiously are always the same ones...  :-\

Maybe it's been just a coincidence...  After all, I don't know the rules for inspectors.

As I said, I am just thinking aloud.  :)

When you ask agencies to delete your portfolios, some of them offer you the possibility to just deactivate your images instead of closing the account permanently.  That way you may easily come back in the future, activate images and start selling again.

I am wondering about the convenience of having just the images deactivated (where possible)...  Is it really a wise decision?

Is having just the images deactivated a problem to become IS exclusive? Is anyone here IS exclusive with images just deactivated in SS, Veer, DT?

General Stock Discussion / Stock images used at ecards site...
« on: January 29, 2010, 21:00 »
Just found a website dedicated to e-cards using stock images: http://www.barbaras-ecards.de/

There I found at least one of mine which seems she took from a site called www.pixelio.de - FREE images   >:(
Many others are from IS (though I don't think she has paid for EL to use them for e-cards)

Take a look and check if you see something known.

Note: The site is in German, but you can use Google translator if you don't speak German

Adobe Stock / FOTOLIA's partners
« on: January 29, 2010, 17:50 »
Having a portfolio removed from Fotolia is not a problem.  However, having your images removed from some Fotolia's partners is a different story.
In my experience, the Chinese partner http://www.tuweimei.com  is the worst.
Now, as they sell images through Fotolia, I don't think they can sell them.  They just display them.

What I wonder is whether this would be a problem to be accepted as IS exclusive.

2 months with Snapixel, and no sales yet.

Anyone with a different experience?

I have just noticed that On Demand Subscriptions are back!

That's good news! :)

Shutterstock.com / Images sizes at Shutterstock
« on: November 08, 2009, 15:52 »
I was taking a look at the portfolios of some of best sellers (Yuri Arcurs, Andres Rodriguez, etc) at SS and noticed their newest images don't have the SS supersize.

I wonder... How small are they sending images to SS now?

Is it a good idea to only send images as small as possible to SS?

Adobe Stock / How to remove images from Fotolia's resellers?
« on: August 27, 2009, 02:04 »
Has anyone checked if your images still appear in the websites of Fotolia's resellers after having closed the Fotolia account?

Last week I removed all my images from Fotolia and have formally closed my account but my images are still at http://www.tuweimei.com
I have already asked Fotolia to solve this situation but I am still waiting and now I wonder whether my images are still on other Fotolia's resellers.

This is really annoying!   >:(  This Chinese reseller offers comps with no watermarks at all. That was one of the reasons why I decided to finally close my Fotolia account

Thanks!

General Stock Discussion / Fotolia Watermark
« on: July 31, 2009, 01:53 »
I have sent this message to Fotolia:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Fotolia,

I am seriously concerned about the effectiveness of the current watermak against image theft.

This problem affects us all: the company, image buyers, and image producers.

We urgently need a more effective watermark to be better protected against the unscrupulous people who visit Fotolia with the only intention to steal images.

Thank you in advance for your prompt attention to this matter.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you are also concerned about the Fotolis watermak, please feel free to copy my message, connect to your account at Fotolia, go to Contact Support and send it (you may add your own words or send a different message of course)

The more of us express our concern on this issue the more chances we have to get results...

Let's protect our work!
