As I ask in the title: having a complete profile does make any difference?

A lot of websites give you a customizable profile page with header image, profile image, bio, and lots of custom fields.

Does it matter at all to have a complete profile? Or create public "collections" or other similar things?

Hi,
I'm using Stocksubmitter, but I'm switching to Linux based machines.

Is there any software comparable to Stocksubmitter that does all the upload and cumplete submissions of files in Linux?
Or what's the best workflow to use?

Any Linux user here?

Thanks! ;)

Can you consider adding POD websites for upload and submission in future releases?

I'd love to be able to submit to:
redbubble
society6
fineartamerica
photo4me
inprnt
zazzle (maybe this one will be very difficult with their complicated product creation tool)

I'm trying to submit to all the agencies with automatic submission through Stock Submitter. Since there isn't any extra effort in doing so, why not.

Is there any other agency where Stock Submitter can upload without submit content, but with a smooth, fast and easy manual submission process? (something like just a few clicks to submit an entire batch of images)

Hello,
when I submit to 123RF I have a problem with the selected country.

The problem happens only when in stocksubmitter I select PERU. After the submission in 123RF the selected country is Paraguay.
No problem with any other country so far (I used spain, argentina, chile, bolivia, colombia, ecuador, italy, gibraltar).

I'm shooting some videos with an Olympus OM-d E-M5 Mk II, with the best possible quality.

For each video I cut the parts I don't need and I encode it with Photo JPEG, but the result is a lot bigger than the original file...

For example:
Original file: 21 seconds - 191 MB
Exported file: 21 seconds - 464 MB

Am I doing something wrong?
Is there a lossless way to decrease the exported file size?

After opening the software a popup always opens with Pond5 login screen.
User and password are filled automatically and I only have to solve the captcha.
Unfortunately after resolving the captcha I receive this error message (see screenshot attached).

This happens every time I open stocksubmitter, and keeps happening afterwards (probably when the software tries to check the balance on Pond5).

On the website the login works without problems.

What are the agencies similar to Alamy where I can sell RM images without exclusivity?

General Stock Discussion / Plurals in keywords?
« on: March 10, 2017, 21:09 »
Do you add singular and plural version of keywords (if they are relevant)?
Only Shutterstock is deleting the plurals automatically. Does it mean that all the others accept (and need) both of them?

Print on Demand Forum / Saatchi Art upload problems?
« on: March 05, 2017, 17:20 »
Am I the only one having problems uploading to Saatchi Art?
After going through all the steps to add the infos, it gets stuck at the last step making me waste quite some time...

Shutterstock.com / SS "Contact Us" form not working?
« on: February 27, 2017, 10:23 »
Am I the only one who can't use the Contact Us form on the SS website?
The SUBMIT button is not working.

I just found out about this: https://lightroom-keyword-list-project.blogspot.com.com/ (it's quite old, I know)
And I was wondering if anybody is using a controlled vocabulary of keywords in Lightroom.

Seems a good way to give an order to the keywording process, but I see a lot of possible limitations and problems along the way...
Any direct experience with controlled vocabularies?

General Stock Discussion / Selling mobile pictures
« on: February 22, 2017, 18:32 »
Do you sell mobile pictures with one of these (or other) app?
Any success with it or it's  just a waste of time?

Do these agencies accept photos taken with a real camera too? (apart from Dreamstime, 123RF and Depositphotos, of course)

Print on Demand Forum / POD strategy: how and where to sell?
« on: November 04, 2016, 09:51 »
Ok, I want to start selling POD products and I'm researching all the possible options.

First of all: Which websites are working best for you?

Second: What do you think it's the best strategy? Selling on just one website? Selling on a small selection of websites? Selling on most of them?

Third: Do you upload the same exact photos as on stock websites? Or you do different post-processing? Or even major photoshopping?

Do you know any good marketplace where to sell Lightroom presets?

I'm planning to set up my website to sell images.
I've a good knowledge of WordPress and I'm a front-end designer, so I can create a WordPress theme from scratch for this, but I don't want to cope with all the technical stuff behind it (images protection, watermarks, internal search engine, etc).

So I was wondering, if you have any advice or direct experience about which one to use: Symbiostock, Sellmedia or Grfx? Or any other solution maybe without WordPress?

These are my requests:
- FTP support
- EXIF/IPTC data support
- be able to use GPS location embedded in the image (so it should read all the data, not only a specified set like title, caption, keyword)
- images must be protected from download by unauthorized users (url masking for th downloadable files)
- internal search engine better than the default WordPress
- be able to sell different sizes and with RF and/or RM different licenses (would be ideal to have a sort of "price calculator" like Alamy for RM images)
- support for property and model releases
- ability to sell images, video and vectors
- OPTIONAL: ability to manage sales from different photographers (not many, 4-5 max) so they get paid directly

I can't find a reliable answer to this: can someone sell products on ebay based on an image of mine bought on fotolia with an extended license?

I've found this products:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-Galaxy-S3-Palastina-Palestine-Gaza-Fahne-Flag-Cover-Case-Hulle-/230955901795
as it states at the end of the description is an image of mine bought on fotolia ( Stefano Ginella - Fotolia.com)
so I searched my name and discovered that they are selling various products based on that image
http://www.ebay.de/sch/i.html?_trksid=p4634.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xstefano+ginella&_nkw=stefano+ginella&_sacat=0&_from=R40

The image is this one http://www.fotolia.com/id/47851979 and it has been sold just once with an extended license. Is it allowed for them to sell those products?

Off Topic / When "Arab" stock photos go terribly wrong.

What restrictions do you apply when selling travel photos as RM? Do you let only editorial usage or also other kind of usages?

The problem is that often I'm in doubt and I don't know what to do if there is a non recognizable person, a vehicle, a modern building or anything similar in the picture.
When I'm in doubt I always allow only editorial usage, but maybe I can set less restrictions that I don't know of.

What you usually do?

General - Stock Video / h264
« on: March 27, 2013, 14:06 »
Is it safe to export my videos with h264 codec?

I submit videos to Pond5, Shutterstock, Fotolia, 123Rf and Depositphotos and I'm not sure if they all accept h264 codec and for some of them I can't find reliable info online. Until now I've used PhotoJPEG and never had a problem, but now I want to save some space on my hd ;) Is it worth it or is it better to stick with PhotoJPEG?

Print on Demand Forum / Zazzlers: do you have one or more stores?
« on: November 04, 2012, 04:58 »
I was starting to look into Zazzle and see if I can make some money on it with my fractals and other illustrations.

I was just wondering: do you have just one big store with categories or you set up different stores for each of your niche?
I can't decide which solution could be better from a customer point of view, but also from a product management point of view...

I have an excel file but it's very unprofessional, for each agency I just keep track of the revenue and portfolio size for each month.

How do you keep track of your stats? Excel spreadsheet? Access? Some software?

I'm a happy user of Windows 7 pro 64bit, but I'm about to buy a new laptop and I've noticed that somewere I can already select Windows 8 as main OS.

Should I updgrade now or wait a little bit more to have a more stable and more tested OS?
Are you planning to upgrade to Windows 8? Why?

I'm a owner of a Sony A700 with some good lenses and a Sony NEX5 with the kit lens but I'm not happy.

The A700 is too big and heavy, and the lenses too, and I can't stand the lack of an OVF/EVF on the Nex 5 (plus the kit lens is not so good). SO I want to sell it all and buy a good mirrorless body with a couple of lenses (I'm considering also primes). (or a good apsc sized compact camera?)

Key factor I'm looking foor:
- small and lightweight
- built like a tank (it's gonna be a travel camera also)
- good image quality (at least to be able to submit to micro/macrostock websites)
- good manual controls

I need help choosing the right camera, so there are the pros and cons I've found so far on the cameras I like. What are your pros and cons of those camera? Do you have any other camera to suggest? Price is not really an issue (ok... maybe I can't afford a Leica  )
I'm trying to stick to their lenses, because I don't want to use a converter (another piece of crap to carry around, and it adds weight and size)

Olympus OM-D EM-5 + 17mm f/2.8 + 45mm f/1.8
Pros:
- i like the design
- small and lightweight
- weather resistant (good while I'm traveling - big pro)
- best price of the three

Cons:
- image quality (?) due to a smaller sensor

Fujy X-Pro1 + 18mm f/2 + 35mm f/1.4 (how is the 18-55?)
Pros:
- i really like the design
- image quality

Cons:
- expensive
- slower autofocus (?)
- a little bit bigger

Sony Alpha Nex-7 + 15mm f/2.8 + 50mm f/1.8
Pros:
- image quality
- reasonable price

Cons:
-don't really like the design

Should I also consider the Sony Nex-6 and the Fuji X-E1?
