Computer Hardware / SSD enough?
« on: April 25, 2018, 04:49 »
As a real non-tekkie, please can somebody say whether 256 or 512 SSD alone ie no 'normal' memory will run PS CC, Topaz, Office etc ok? It sounds so little.....
I'm happy to keep all photo files etc on external hard drives.
Advice MUCH appreciated!
Ta...in anticipation....!

General Stock Discussion / Revolucy
« on: April 23, 2018, 07:46 »
Any thoughts? First impresions website not great, commissions not great either....first thing I saw was an advert 5 images for the price of one promo....
Or do they do any business?
Anybody any experience?

iStockPhoto.com / New keyword request
« on: April 09, 2018, 07:23 »
OK. Just imagine I still want to upload some images. But they need new Keywords to have any sense at all.
Any idea where I request these now?
ESP Help goes to Error 404.
Other links lead to ESP Help.
Great.

Dreamstime.com / Upload not working well
« on: April 09, 2018, 05:00 »
After every image submitted the screen goes blank and I need to start again at home page.
Are they trying to discourage uploads?
Nobody replies to emails.
Is anybody left?

Alamy.com / What's happened?
« on: March 19, 2018, 03:31 »
Never been a big seller, but since Jan 30th NOTHING, nada, zip.....
Anybody else?
It usually ticks over.....

Dreamstime.com / There be tinkering going on.... :(
« on: January 20, 2018, 10:47 »
New messages for unsubmitted photos ('no MR attached'), sometimes autofill of keywords works, sometimes not, no longer able to move through images pending to a page of my choice but only next page...
OK, only small things (though I'll stop uploading now till things settle down!) but just wish these agencies would focus on sales and getting new customers, rather than tinkering with upload etc (and rarely making it better).
Whinge......!

iStockPhoto.com / Royalty Free Still - big negative???
« on: October 19, 2017, 15:00 »
Massive Royalty Free Still deduction - is this a refund or what?
:(
Terrible month.
Was hoping for something to make up for collapse at SS. But no.......
:(

PS Does anybody know what Royalty Free Still actually is?

Is there a contact please for Stocksubmitter?

Shutterstock.com / Reference pic - where?
« on: September 13, 2017, 01:26 »
I am failing to get ANY of this series accepted: they involve a photo of me isolated and turned into a silhouette.

At first I attached just an MR - was told it needed a reference image.
Then I sent up both - and am told the Reference image was sent 'in the wrong field'. (I sent it as a second MR as it clearly is not a Property Release. There are just the 2 options.)

Any ideas please?

iStockPhoto.com / Easy Release and IS problem
« on: September 07, 2017, 01:18 »
I have just sent up some pics with Easy Release duly completed. Accepted by all agencies but IS are asking for
'Standard Model Release' to be added in the footer.
Any ideas what they mean?
Sigh........

DepositPhotos / Graphicstock! WARNING!!!!!
« on: August 04, 2017, 03:40 »
Seems DP are now partnering with Graphicstock!
May as well just give everything for free! Please tell people in the Partner scheme that they are doing this. I think I only know this because I am opted out (and left just a few images there to keep the option for the future open), and they wrote asking permission to include me.
Graphicstock, for those who don't know, is where people pay a fee (theory 100$, but often on offer) to download as much content as they want FOR A YEAR FOR NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE. I have no idea what DP intends to pass on to photogs. But it can't be much more than giving away you whole stock library for nothing. Especially if you are on other sites.
Obviously, I am NOT joining.
PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG but I don't think I am.

General Stock Discussion / JULY SALES
« on: July 26, 2017, 01:14 »
My July has been terrible for sale, the worst month for years. Yours?

I have nothing to say, but it seems others do, so here is a special thread.

Shutterstock.com / When sales have totally tanked on SS
« on: July 18, 2017, 02:08 »
what do you do?

Upload as usual, hope it changes.
Upload as much as possible, something has to sell.
Stop uploading, everything gets buried anyway.

Just wondering. Given the disastrous sales this month and most of last.

16
on how to make money on microstock and just feels depressed? We're already heading to more contributors than buyers.....

I know this makes me a grumpy old thing, and I should feel happy happy for all these eager newbies and would-be newbies.

But I'm not and that's the truth!

General - Top Sites / Generic Minor Model Release
« on: June 09, 2017, 00:05 »
Does anybody know of a one which satisfies ALL the big 4 requirements?

I thought everybody accepted SS  but on that it didn't specify that the parent's name must be printed - mother wrote it - so it is being rejected by others. And SS itself have rejected it for some reason yet to become clear.

Thinking of trying footage. I have an OMD EM5. And no video software. And basically do not know where to begin. I have read lots on the internet but my head is just spinning. On my camera alone there are so many options....

Is it possible to give me a starting point:
what format to set on my camera
free or low cost easy to use video software to do basic editing

so I can have a play?

Clearly the objective is to end up with something half decent for most sites.....

or is this like asking how long is a piece of string?

Alamy.com / Collapse in sales
« on: May 09, 2017, 11:35 »
ok, Alamy isn't a big seller, but has tended to tick over at a fairly consistent rate for a while. But the last month - since the changes maybe? - zip. Zilch. Nada.
Anybody else found this?
I've been doing categories etc for new stuff in the name of 'discoverability' but have done nothing to older files. Seriously....life is too short!
But sales have gone the way of the dodo.....
:(

Shutterstock.com / Just venting
« on: May 08, 2017, 02:15 »
Well - after months with 100% acceptance, and years of 80% plus, I've just had 2 batches 100% rejected for under exposure! What the heck? They are NOT under exposed. I KNOW this! Assorted pics from assorted places in different light situations.
Maybe they have a newbie reviewer with a dodgy screen or something? Or a glitch on their auto software? MEGA irritating. And to really rub salt, each rejection came not once but 4 times!
It's a shambles.
The sales are barely worth submitting - let alone resubmitting.
Grrrrrr
Happy Monday!
Grrrrrr

Seems they are out to tinker with this now.

Few tweaks ok - but it looks like they are after ANOTHER OVERHAUL.
Fasten your seatbelts.......

CanStockPhoto.com / 4 weeks and still not reviewed....

anything remotely topical or natural history is well irrelevant!
Sales are never great here (!) but this can't help!
Herrumph.

Shutterstock.com / Ah - the memories.....!
« on: February 07, 2017, 08:40 »
Yesterday it felt like I had travelled back in time....

Old and new photos being sold.
A smattering of OODs.
A smallish SOD.
A steady trickle of dls all day.
Nothing spectacular really - indeed, fairly normal up till about 18/24 months ago - but - ah - the memories!

Reminded me why this used to be such fun - and it wasn't because it gave me the opportunity to spend hours on end in my cold back bedroom taking and editing pics of mundane things.....for next to nothing!

Herrrumph!

Alamy.com / Oh dear. Here we go again....
« on: January 30, 2017, 07:11 »
New format.
Is it truly awful or is it just me?
Images on sale number are inconsistent from one page to another.
96 images are flagged as on sale but with poor dicoverability - looks like mainly the ones I haven't yet sent through to go on sale.
But best of all ZERO images of my 2000-ish port ie NO images ie NOT A SINGLE PHOTO is flagged as on sale and optimized!
No longer surprised it's been such a grim month on AL!
:(
