DepositPhotos / Depositphotos - rounded up on 1099-MISC
« on: February 15, 2016, 16:21 »
Working on my taxes today and compared my distributions from Depositphotos to the 1099-MISC document and I noticed they "rounded up" to the next full dollar amount rather than reporting the exact distribution on the documents they submitted to the IRS as my earnings.
The live chat representative is having someone look into it. It was a small amount but the sloppiness is irritating.
If you have received a 1099-MISC and it lists a full dollar amount with nothing after the decimal point you may want to compare actual distributions to the form to see if they rounded up for you too.

This info may be obvious to any of the SEO gurus and those that work with web pages a lot but as a newbie to the SEO and analysis end I found this a useful read to start understanding what to look for.

Bluehost Blog - Google Analytics tips

Any other tips or advice on how to read Google Analytics data and actions to take would be helpful so please add to this thread if you have info.

Leo - in the beginning I set up a few pages to test some stuff and now I'm confused as to which are my abandoned test pages and which are the "must keep" Symbio-required pages.

Would you please post a list of the pages that Symbiostock generates and need to be kept?  That will help me identify which I can safely trash.

Thanks!

One feature many of you may not be aware of is a WP feature giving you the ability to edit the Published date and time and schedule your published images for future dates.

When processing images you'll see a "Published On" date and time right above the "Publish" button and an edit option.  Note that the time is a 24 hour clock so plan accordingly when editing the time. You can use this to do a few things to organize and manage publishing your images.

You can group together your similar images by editing their publish time and date to be same date and hour, consecutive minutes.

You can edit pictures all weekend and schedule them to publish at the beginning of a work week or schedule to have fresh images posting on specific days and times of the week.

Schedule images to publish when you're traveling or off-line for a period of time to keep fresh images posted on a regular basis.

Use it to market a new series by building a little buzz around the series - send out announcements that your new series will be launched at a specific date and time and auto-schedule the publishing of the images.

Symbiostock - Technical Support / Latest Images not updating
« on: April 21, 2013, 09:34 »
I have the Latest Images widget on my home page and on the 18th and 19th it showed images published but it's not updating with images published yesterday or today.  I'm not sure if this is a bug or if I'm doing something wrong.  Any thoughts on what's going on?

Symbiostock - Technical Support / Help for the clueless?
« on: March 29, 2013, 22:50 »
I may be getting in way over my head but I really want to jump into this and try to make it work however all the tech-talk jargon is starting to make my head spin.  If someone can help point me in the right direction to help me get rolling I'll happily write some tutorials in return for others totally new to this that want to get started.

Here's what I've accomplished so far:
Host site set up with Bluehost with both a primary domain and an add-on domain
Intent is to use add-on domain for Symbiostock (primary domain was previously set up for other use though currently not active.  Do have the option to have Bluehost "name swap" them to make my add-on the primary and the current primary an add-on if that makes things easier)
I have basic understanding of Wordpress from blog site at WP.com site so I do understand navigating the backend.

Here's where I'm stuck:
Followed Github link in the "take care of the baby" link and not quite sure what to do next.  What should I be downloading to be able to upload the theme to WP?  Can I upload the theme via the Appearance/Themes/Install/Upload process in WP or do I need to transfer via .ftp to my Bluehost acct.?
Also wondering about all the updates and what steps need to be done with regard to adding updates (or will that WP Theme Update Plug In mentioned at the bottom of the github page take care of all that?

Thanks in advance for any help offered.

Symbiostock - General / EULA, legal, Paypal, etc.
« on: March 23, 2013, 12:15 »
The initial post had a discussion about regarding the EULA.  Was it determined that we would be on our own with that or that we'd need to share amongst ourselves?

I'm new to self-hosting and selling so I'm trying to list out all the details I need to cover regarding legal, pricing and payments.  I believe Paypal has different options relating to payments for selling product vs. receiving royalty payments which I'll need to research.  Any tips and pointers for those of us new to selling direct would be helpful and might help grow the network faster if we can get on board sooner.

I saw a SS tweet last night that lead me to a post on the buyer's blog describing Shutterstock Instant a new search interfact they are testing.  From the blog:

Quote
Shutterstock Instant is the worlds first image search experience truly optimized for inspiration and browsing. Instead of trying to add more features to our core website, we thought wed just re-imagine how a website would work if we focused more narrowly. Our hope is not to replace our current experience, but offer a new one for those of you in the exploration phase.

Looks interesting and I like that it's an additional tool, not a replacement for the current search.  Here's the link to the full post on the blog.

Dreamstime.com / Teasing isn't fair!
« on: February 01, 2011, 21:25 »
I uploaded some new images to DT 5 days ago.  They have been in-and-out of "Image Under Review" four times in the past 48 hours!  Down to 27 hours now - the lowest I've ever seen before review and approval.  I'm wondering what happens if they hit zero without review.   ???   Not fair that the reviewers are being such teases this week - LOL.
