iStockPhoto.com / Royalty Statement Clarification
« on: February 24, 2017, 18:28 »
Just received a Royalty Statement Clarification email from Getty images... It looks like there are another couple of adjustments are coming:

Zero royalty rate percentage transactions
In preparation for the move to the new royalties systems, we ran several months of test transactions in the live environment. In a small number of cases, we were not able to remove all these test transactions. A small number of cases... looked like all of them were in my statement!

Increased Tax
As you can see in your statement, we track and identify the country or region for each reported sale. US transactions normally account for 50% of transactions but we are seeing an issue where all credit pack sales were reported as originating in the US.
US source transactions are subject to withholding tax, depending on your country of residence. This resulted in incorrect tax withholding for these transactions... Sure, it must be hard to develop some simple software to figure this out on time!

Summary
We are working to solve these issues for future transactions, and to identify every contributor and transaction that was affected by each issue so we can recalculate and repay any royalties owed...
So should we look forward to some extra pennies or are they going to take another big chunk of our royalty?

DepositPhotos / And again: not suitable for commercial use
« on: May 09, 2016, 04:43 »
thought to give them another chance this morning by uploading several files. I did various themes: food, nature, objects, industry and guess what: all rejected for not suitable for commercial use.
Their review time was less than 10 minutes, I still wonder how someone can hit that rejection button so fast.
I'm done there, no new files from me on Depostit anymore.

123RF / LEL file
« on: April 11, 2016, 18:03 »
Just sold a LEL file today and made a whooping .....$ .414. I think I put this amount towards some new camera gear.

Anyone else sold Extended License for such a small amount? I think it is insane.

20% off any subscription plan... Nice! We all know that our earnings are based on the price the customer paid for his credits so looking forward to decreasing sales! >:(

Adobe Stock / The new fotolia...low sales
« on: May 28, 2015, 20:18 »
It's been a little than a month since Fotolia launched it's restyled site. While getting used to the new categories I noticed that my sales dropped!
I used to have a couple of bigger, extended licence sales each month but all I got were subscriptions and a few 6 credit sales. Is it just coincidence or is anyone else experiencing the same thing?

Just noticed some PP sales on the first of July! What about the subscription sales? Do they come in as well?

iStockPhoto.com / Partner Program Recoupment Notification
« on: February 24, 2014, 17:53 »
surprise surprise: it took them 3 months to figure it out (the average accountant needs 3 days) but they "overpaid" us and will take it back:

Rather than take this amount out of your royalty balance in one adjustment we have decided to schedule the removal of these funds over a 6 month period.

Looks like we are not getting much the coming months. Still no proper explanation how this could have happened and I miss one phrase in this email: we are sorry!!

If you have any questions please contact us via our Contributor Relations Contact Ticket feature. Thinking of sending them a message about my underpayment: 15% sucks!

As a regular Fotolia submitter I noticed that - all of a sudden - there must be something wrong with me. Since early september, most of my images got rejected because of technical problems. The weird thing is, they were accepted everywhere else. So nice of them to tell me there are Technical Problems. I can sort out myself which of these apply to my images. To make it less boring, a few were rejected because of quality issues. Only once a whole batch got accepted, which I knew when this reviewer is on duty again so I can submit my images then.

These are the familiair technical problems:
Blurry or out of focus image
Voluntary blurs need to bring added value to the subject/theme. Your photograph must be focused on the subject. When focusing on a small area, try a higher depth of field to avoid blurring.

Over/Under exposure

Cropping
The subject matter or background has been cropped too tightly. -> I understand this one, but what if the whole subject was in the image?

Over or under saturated colors -> possible, but DT and IS liked the image enough to accept it

Inadequate contrast -> not according to 123, DT and IS

Noise or Pixelation
Please verify your images at 100% zoom to review pixel quality. -> I did, and so did all the other agencies before they accepted them.

Interpolation problem
Images must be in their original definition. Enlarging a picture in software is strictly forbidden. -? C'mon, only beginners make this mistake

Effects Problem
Use special effects with caution (buyers generally prefer to add their own effects). -> no special effects used!

Size Problem
Images must have a minimum definition of 4 MP, and a maximum definition of 50 MP-> My 18 megapix camera shoots images somewhere in the middle, so that's not the problem.

I guess it is just a random pick of images at Fotolia. Some images or subjects they like and whenever you submit that images form 15 different angles it will be accepted while other subjets or topics are just a standard rejection. This week, the images that are already selling elsewhere were rejected and a couple of images that were the poorer ones according to my standards got accepted....

Anyone else have the same experience lately?

Bigstock.com / Review times and upload limit?
« on: September 05, 2013, 14:51 »
what's going on at BS? I have 10 files pending review for 2 weeks!
A lot of other agencies recently raised their upload limits (if they have them) but it seems that there is no chance to raise your upload limit at BS.
I can submit 10 files at a time, since I screwed up my approval ratio in the early days of my career. My approval ratio over the last year is a lot higher and sales are increasing every month.
Since it takes them 2 weeks to check my 10 file submission, I cannot expand my portfolio the way I want to. Anyone else with this problem?

123RF / Sales dropped?
« on: November 12, 2012, 12:15 »
October was a very good month for me at 123RF but it looks like november started very slowly here. Anyone else have the same experience?

123RF / Accepted files not online
« on: October 27, 2012, 10:48 »
I have a bunch of accepted files but it seems to take days/weeks before they show up in my portfolio. Did they have some technical problems recently?

Featurepics.com / Featurepicks: one big joke?
« on: October 18, 2012, 12:03 »
Does anyone have any sales recently?
I'm there with 2000+ files, last sales was in August.

I'm still uploading files (yeah...limited to 10 files a day!). Most of them rejected because The image subject doesn't suit the site at the present time or This category is too big compare to other categories.
What does Featurepicks accept? To me it's already clear that they do not want flowers, food or animals but even other subjects seem to be fully covered.
Funny for such a small, low selling agency. Guess they do not want to grow and make a decent profit?
