To me, 2016 has seen a major change. Last year, four of my five best earners would have been microstock images. This year, only one microstock image made enough to make it into the top five:

I'd be interested to hear from others who started to diversify their distribution channels and came to similar results.

I just found that I had 23 sales yesterday, all marked as "Distribution Subscription" and paying $0.30 each. Some images were sold multiple times.

I typically have nothing close to 23 downloads in a whole month, so this is rather special.

Anyone else having seen anything like that in the last few days? Anyone already know where this might be coming from?

iStockPhoto.com / November PP sales are being processed now
« on: December 06, 2014, 03:27 »
I see the first green bars show up for November.

I have to admit that this is something iStock has significantly improved. Six months in a row it started within the first week of the new month.

(Okay, given the time they need to process and the growing amount of sales coming through those channels they need to start pretty early to be finished with all the sales before the end of month, of course  ::) )

The EyeEm Market is now working for the photographer side, and just end of last week I saw the first of my images showing up on the Getty Images site as part of the EyeEm collection.

I was asked to write down my experiences with the EyeEm market and how things work over there. In case you are interested, here is the article now: http://www.mystockphoto.org/eyeem-market-contributor-guide/

Dreamstime.com / Dreamstime, what's the secret?
« on: April 09, 2014, 01:31 »
I am wondering what's the secret to be "successful" at Dreamstime...

My experiences so far are:

1) They rejected about half of my images, far more than all other agencies combined

2) The upload process is even worse than iStock (if you use DeepMeta)

3) The sales are varying month to month but rarely come close to Fotolia as would be indicated from the Poll Results

Still people seem to be uploading (and get approved) lots of images as their total number is not that far from Fotolia or Shutterstock. And for some reason people seem to vote their sales within range of Fotolia.

So is there any secret specifically about Dreamstime that I don't know? Is there something you do different when submitting your images to DT?

A fellow contributor just noticed that iStock has started to move rastered images into the Illustration product line if they are mainly a photo taken from a hand drawing:

General - Top Sites / How quick from upload to going live?
« on: January 14, 2013, 05:57 »
Hey there

I only know iStock where it takes maybe a day or two for (exclusive) inspection and another day or two for images to actually show up in your portfolio. So the minimum is 2-3 days from upload to images being searchable.

Can you advise how much time this process takes at the other big three, SS, FT and DT?

Thanks,

Michael
