New Carousel in Google Search - Youtube videos in Bigger View http://www.webmasterworld.com/google/4613400.htmit's not just about videos ! try searching "Brian Eno" for instance, his whole discography on a box on the right of the screen under "Albums", it will come out including all the covers, click on the covers and you will get a full size image ! on the bottom right of the screen there's a miserable text in gray color over black background saying "Images may be subject to copyright". now, what if i did some CD cover for a band and google display them in high-res ? what do they mean "images MAY BE subect to copyright" ? of course they ARE ALL copyrighted since they belong to commercial products and commercial photo/visual artists ! there's no limit to the greedyness of google nowadays, i expect the music majors to sue google in droves.

Nikon 1 AW1 underwater mirrorless camera and two 1 Nikkor AW lenses officially announced http://nikonrumors.com/2013/09/19/nikon-1-aw1-underwater-mirrorless-camera-and-two-1-nikkor-aw-lenses-officially-announced.aspx/looks good, launch price around 800-1000$ with 2 lenses. waterproof up to 15 meters, ISO 160-6400, lots of accessories available. will this cause a flood of underwater stock images ? i guess so. even if the final image quality is mediocre with a bit of PS you could do wonders, no need for overpriced clumsy plastic cases etc i don't do underwater photos but this camera could be a game changer for some market niches.

Adobes Profit Falls 59 Percent, but Cloud Subscribers Jump http://allthingsd.com/20130917/adobes-profit-falls-59-percent-but-cloud-subscribers-jump/?mod=atd_homepage_carouselSo, their grand plan now is simple, most of their loyal userbase is outraged at being forced into the Adobe Cloud and stopped buying anything but investors are trustful in Adobe squeezing their subscribers like a lemon drop by drop ! What matters is now acquiring new subscribers rather than making actual profits, they will come at a later stage when users will be fully locked-in and scre-wed in with nowhere to go.

guys, the future of stock in general is bright and shining, more and more big companies like FB and Google are embracing STOCK suppliers.
this is a GREAT sign, consider that before they freely allowed piracy so from any perspective it's better than nothing.
my opinion ? don't expect to get rich, but soon the pool of potential buyers could double or triple or even more.
no matter if micro/RF or macro/RM .. the demand for good photos is rising despite the zillions of cr-ap snapshot on free sites.
be in the right place at right time ... i might be 100% wrong, but i smell something BIG coming in.
it starts with FB and by domino effect it ends with ...

no idea if this was already discussed but i just noticed this site which is basically a portfolio service for photojournalists, they claim to allow distribution by Getty for "selected" premium members (100$/year) ? http://www.lightrocket.com/gettythe company seems to be a spinoff of ONASIA, a reputable travel/editorial agency, no idea how they manage payments and all, and what if you don't renew the membership ? will they remove your files ?

wow, this gotta be another bombshell for amateur photographers, and it could be damaging the whole biz of ZenFolio, Smugmug, and Photoshelter which are now forced to catch up with storage space. this will set a new standard on online photo storage, if i can get 1TB for free on Flickr why should i pay for a few hundred GBs elsewhere ? Yahoo! adds 1TB of free storage to Flickr in site revamp http://www.theregister.co.uk/2013/05/20/yahoo_updates_flickr_app_and_storage/

from the horse's mouth :
"We have found a good distribution partner (Getty Images) for the kind of content we produce. We will be removing all images from microstock doing the next few weeks. Microstock, especially subscription sites, are not suited for the kind of high production cost images we produce. "

out of curiosity i looked at the Pictures top 100 section of Pirate Bay and guess what ... nr.1 and nr. 2 in the list there's a couple packs of stolen shutterstock images, each pack is 60-70GB ! besides, there are other 4-5 packs in the list, 30-40GB each. http://thepiratebay.se/top/603in the first pack ( http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/7757399/Shutterstock_-_stock_photography_collection_1) one guy even complains about the "copyright na-zis" : "Sorry, I can't share this content any longer (problems with the copyright na-zis). Please get it from rutracker. Use google translate for an English instead of a Russian interface." RuTracker.ru is a russian warez forum with links to torrents and bitlockers, maybe that's exactly where all these stolen pictures are coming from ?

www.alamy.comas much as i was critic of Alamy in the past finally they managed to launch a very nice new site, to me it also feels faster and thumbs are bigger. the dreadful "best of" button has also been replaced with "Creative". my only complaint is they should replace also "Relevant" with "Editorial".
