Symbiostock - Technical Support / My site's become very slow
« on: April 06, 2014, 12:14 »
Sometime around one of the last theme updates (I'm on 3.3.3) my site has begun to respond very slowly when a search is performed.

At first I thought it might be a plugin conflict so I disabled all of the plugins but that did not improve the speed.

So then I thought it might be my host (although I haven't had problems in the past) so I verified that by installing a different theme and although I couldn't search my images with the theme, everything seemed pretty snappy again.

Then I used a plugin called P3 (Plugin Performance Profiler) to scan my site.  The plugin shows what components of your site are taking the most resources and causing the site to be slow.  The graph I got is attached.  It seems to be showing me that the problem with my speed is a result of the theme itself.  Look at the crazy load time for the theme (over 20 seconds).

Is anyone else experiencing a slow down on version 3.3.3?  I checked a few other symbio sites and didn't see a problem but I don't know what version they were on.

Can anyone tell me where the symbiostock thumbnails and image previews are stored on my server?  I've found the folder "symbiostock_rf" which looks like it contains the original full size images.  Where are the thumbs and previews stored?

Symbiostock - SEO & Marketing / Yoast and Meta Descriptions
« on: August 10, 2013, 14:07 »

Just go to the Yoast Plugin, Titles & Meta tab, then under Post Types find "Symbiostock Images". In the meta description template part put "%%excerpt%%" (without the "") and it will auto generate it for you. Just be aware, it doesnt visually show up in the meta description box on the image edit page, it just applies it in the background. You may need to tick "Excerpts" to be shown on the Screen Options dropdown on the image edits page.

Hope that helps.

I'm a little bit confused about this. Hoping someone can clarify.  If I add %%excerpt%% to the meta description in Symbiostock Images (Yoast Seo templates) I can see that the there is a meta description being added (by looking at the number of characters) but if I then add any additional information to the content, it is no longer dynamically added to the snippet as it was before adding %%excerpt%%. Whatever title and caption the image has in it's metadata when I upload it becomes the snippet and meta description even if I change the title or caption later.

Symbiostock - Technical Support / Test Purchase Issues
« on: June 11, 2013, 17:02 »
I put a couple images up and tried a test purchase.  Everything went smoothly through paypal and I was sent back to the Customer License and File Management Area.  This page showed the image I purchased was still in the cart along with a message that read "Items still in your cart, and not in your download area? Wait a few seconds and refresh the page. Sometimes paypal takes a few minutes to notify us. If you still have problems, please contact us."

I tried refreshing for about twenty minuets but nothing ever changed.  I finally logged out and back in again and the only thing that has changed is the message is gone.  The image I purchased is still shown as being in my cart.  Can't figure anyway to download.

I also didn't receive a customer thank you email.  I received two emails from Paypal one was a customer receipt and one was a notification of sale.  Anyone have any ideas?

Symbiostock - General / Paypal Auto Return URL
« on: June 04, 2013, 00:14 »
Hey all,

I've been busy working all day on the set up of our symbiostock site and I've run into a question that is probably pretty basic but I haven't been able to figure out yet.  Right now I'm working on the Auto Return feature for Paypal and don't know what Return URL I should use?  What page should I be pointing back to? I see a "Thank you for registering" page but not seeing any kind of a "Thank you for purchasing" page.

Thanks for your help!

Bryan

Symbiostock - General / Symbiostock and Godaddy
« on: May 25, 2013, 20:38 »
Hi everyone,

I've been quietly watching symbiostock progress for the last several weeks and I think its time for me to seriously consider getting on board. Before I go any further I'd like to offer a huge thanks to Leo for really taking the ball and running with it.  I'm amazed at what you've been able to accomplish in such a short time!  Thank you Leo!  Karma should be very good to you ;)

I currently have a wordpress site (http://www.crackerclips.com) hosted with Godaddy that I'd like to convert to a symbiostock site. I've seen bluehost mentioned several times as a preferred host but want to know if anyone is using godaddy successfully?  I would prefer not to have to move the whole thing for various reasons.  I've been happy with GD but if there is a big reason to change I will have to consider it.

Has anyone else converted an existing wordpress.org site to a symbiostock site as opposed to setting one up from scratch?  Any issues I should be aware of?

Thanks,
Bryan
