General Stock Discussion / Re: 1 million dollar potato photo
« on: April 28, 2017, 13:27 »
After doing stocks for more than a decade, I have to admit that I will forever remain a starving artist, unless I become a good business person.

This is nothing new. A diamond will remain a piece of rubbish until someone knows how to promote and sell it to the right buyer.

« on: April 20, 2017, 10:45 »
There is a white bar for "royalty free still". What does it mean?

My March is slightly better than the previous months.

The sales has decreased from Pond5 lately. However, the recent sale was a 4k which I set the price at around $200.

Just had two sales from SS, which I got over $200. I cannot tell which one was sold at what price. Can anyone tell me how to check?

Thanks!

I have already seen some $5 sales. Not pleased!

ShadeSue, just curious, are you still exclusive? Reason?
Not that I am a fan of Getty, my guess is that the revenue drop may not be as bad for exclusives yet.
I'm still exclusive.
I've given my reason many times. I have no intention atm of uploading anywhere in the knowledge I'd get 25c a sale. When I'm finished with iS, I'm finished with micro, unless something totally uinexpected is round the corner. I'll donate my wildlife pics, many of which aren't in any agency atm, between some charities and that'll be that. I'll probably stay with Alamy/editorial for a while.

My personal revenue drop at iS is very deep. I haven't uploaded for nine months and counting, because some sales, even as an exclusive, are as low as 6c (not even counting Connect). My average RPD for Jan was $1.99, and for Feb it was $1.51, and sales are falling rapidly.
Tickstock is one of the very few who are reporting buoyant sales.

Thanks for sharing. I see what you mean.

My drop is about 30% per year. Like you, my port will remain with Getty for now. I have hardly uploaded in recent years. There are other things that I am focusing on.

Perhaps TC is still uploading aggressively?

That idea was never floated as far as I know.  It has however been said on this forum for years.  As far back as I can remember no one that left exclusivity (high level) has come back here and said they are making more as an independent, can you think of anyone?
Conversely, has any former high-level exclusive come back here and said they're earning less, in the medium-long term?

Pardon me for my ignorance, where do you people see those 19 cents or 9 cents?

From my ESP, I could only see the total, and not the individual sales.

Thanks for enlightening me!

Download the ESP report it comes as a text or a PDF

Thanks!

Alamy.com / Re: My QC Rank is frozen?? Why???
« on: March 11, 2017, 11:01 »
I ask this question, because I wonder if there are other people with similar experience.

It should be noted that the rank freeze only lasts until a certain date. Does Alamy not want the search engine to fine my images for a while? I just don't know why I am punished.

Alamy.com / My QC Rank is frozen?? Why???
« on: March 10, 2017, 20:48 »
Just saw that my QC rank has been frozen at 1 star. It was two stars last week.

I have had no rejections at all for many months, or years. My total and average CTRs are well above the average.

Why!

I phoned GI office in LA. The only way to get in touch is by email: [email protected].

But the auto reply says it will take 2 business days to hear back.

iStockPhoto.com / How to Contact GI? I cannot find ESP Invitation
« on: February 13, 2017, 14:52 »
I still cannot find the ESP invitation. How can I be in touch with Getty? I sent emails before but the replies were auto-generated and did not address my issue.

Please advise. Thanks.

« on: February 09, 2017, 12:44 »
I re-checked the images which were supposed to have good discoverbility, but many are still messed up. What a waste of time. I have no time to shoot and process new images because of the system.

The new system really frustrating.

How long will take you to update over 1000 images??

Be very careful when you edit. If you edit one, the next one will import totally irrelevant keywords from the previous image and delete the relevant ones.
Is that not just only if you don't untick the first one?

Maybe not ... I found earlier when I did a batch, I had to untick every one individually before moving on.
Honestly, this system is even more fiddly and time consuming than the last one. And so far no sales this month - by this time in Jan (sic!) I had two decent sales. (Still, I don't have a high enough volume of sales to claim any pattern, though 2016 was well up for sales compared to 2015, though $$ almost identical.)

I agree. It gave me a lot of trouble. I even once clicked on reset instead of + and re-do the whole thing again, because they are located so close to each other.

I would like to know more about how to edit the images with "Poor Discoverability".

What are the likely causes of Poor Discoverability?

Thanks!

I had decent sales in December. January was slow, had just one.

SS has had no sales since November.

I am not on FB either.

Emailed Getty through contact page. Will they respond?

My DM is still working though.

I seem to remember they said the work would be completed on Feb. 3, is it correct or not?

iStockPhoto.com / ESP Question
« on: February 04, 2017, 13:05 »
I was re-directed to the ESP site but cannot log in. New password email has never been received.

Getty created another ID for me for the Contributors Forum. Do I use the forum ID and password? Or do I use my regular iStock ID and password?

By the way, what does ESP stand for?

Thanks for your help!
