« on: July 12, 2022, 22:56 »
Yikes.
10 cent sale.
4 cents went to Alamy.
4 cents went to Distrubutor.
2 cents came to me.
That doesn't even pay for the 5 seconds of cable to look into my balance!

Covid ain't over.  Not in my house right now :(  snort cough snort

People that use the word 'snowflake', are usually the biggest snowflakes of all. They're also the most likely to tell people to 'look things up' and to 'think for themselves', when the majority of their talking points have been thought for them. If you'd be so kind as to use the words awake, msm, elites, woke and sheep in your reply... then that'll be house on my conspiracy/anti-science/right wing bingo card.
Would you mind telling me the definition of "msm" please?  I haven't noticed my "woke" niece using this one on facebook....  I  know, I'm such a lemming.

I wonder how has the 10 cent commissions changed contributions.  I was shooting youth sports which sucked me dry so I more or less stopped uploading regularly before the price change, but I wonder how anyone can do this full time any more?     Who is uploading photos?  And how can anyone "invest" in a quality photo shoot?  For example, If I rent a hockey rink for 1 hour for $250, pay the kids $25 per hour, yikes - that is a hella lot of 10 cent photos just to recoop.  Not to mention, hockey is plastered with logos.  All over every piece of equipment and the arena which means hours in post!  There isn't a lot of incentive to shoot anything for stock.  Taking the card out of my camera and adding to lightroom is more effort that it's worth!

Is this their new way of saying "this photo hasn't sold in 24 months"... because I didn't remove any of them and did not check if I could improve keywords.  I no longer get that message...

The bump in price was to help contributors through Covid, I guess Covid is officially over?

I had a gymnast removed too!  They better not touch my dancers!

Adobe Stock / Adobe Verification Code
« on: February 24, 2021, 14:43 »
Every. Time. I go to check on Adobe Stock I get a sign in message that I need a verification code to go further and then the screen goes straight intoto my account without a code.   The code is always sent to my email though.  If I could enter it one time maybe I would stop getting the message, but where the heck does Adobe want me to put it?  It only happens on the stock site, not with software login.  Has anyone encountered/fixed this?

He must be having a marvelous January with the sh*t he's paying us.

"Any user who fails to provide accurate and sufficient information required for the Company to deliver royalties from their Content may not be compensated even if their Content has been sold, and the amount that has not been issued will be returned to the Company during year-end adjustments."

Yea, NO!!

"Playstock shall have the right to retain any unissued royalties and/or other compensation when you terminate your account." I would rethink this. It's a bad, unfair message sent to contributors.

Well, the first part is fair.  If you don't give them your Paypal or other payment information how can you expect to get paid?  It's the year-end part that is shady, there should be a grace period of say... 3-12 months from the last sale.  If you lose your payment address (i.e. change email accounts) you should have a reasonable amount of time to update your payment details.

But the next statement on unissued royalties... boy this gets under my skin.    I do believe this clause started in the beginning because the payouts could be small amounts that were greater than the amount occurred to send the final payment (Paypal/Skrill fees).  If you have a balance in your account that is below a minimum threshold, an ETHICAL agency would charge an amount of $5 or less to administer this instead of crapping on someone who helped build their company in a small way.

Selling Stock Direct / Re: Digital downloads on Etsy
« on: August 12, 2020, 10:31 »
I can't imagine who would buy photographs on Etsy!  Actual posters, greeting cards, yes, but photos?

It's more of a marketplace for crafters to buy crafting stuff, or for shoppers to buy handmade items.  AND it's becoming overrun with used stuff.

I buy on Etsy more than Amazon
Remember they are not curated so it's hit and miss with quality

These are some of the things I've purchased:
-  Photoshop templates (trading cards etc. for youth sports photography)
-  SVG files to cut on t-shirt vinyl
-  PDF Sewing patterns
-  Spandex
-  Lace
-  Rhinestones

The search is HORRENDOUS.  If you search for "Child Leotard Sewing Pattern PDF", you get everything for sale - custom women's gymnastics leotards, mens shorts sewing patterns, monkey knitting pattern.

Spending on administration is also down.
Can I assume this is because they fired all of the image reviewers?  Or did they lay off all their staff during Covid?

I purchased a SVG file on Etsy that had a thin outline of a "C" across the front of it.  Nah, couldn't have been from a poorly erased copyright symbol because Etsy didn't care when I brought it to their attention.  They said if I had a problem I should ask for a refund from the Seller.

Dreamstime.com / Re: Dreamstime increasing royalties
« on: June 09, 2020, 12:31 »
To be the 10,047th person to say this, (but the first in this post.... ) now if they would only lower payouts.  There was a time when I could get a couple $100 payouts a month, but now it's about twice a year.

I had a of the yummy sub sales today, three at $2.20 and one at $2.     That little increase of 60 cents on top of the old price sure beats 6 sub sales at SS.

Back to about 5 pages ago when we were talking about earnings....

At the end of the quarter SS reported earnings and $300M in the bank resulting in dividend payout of .17 per share.

- I don't know how to find how many shares there are though!   Anyone know the number of shares in SS?  Multiply the shares by .17 and we know how much they paid ind dividends.  Then we will know what they currently have for cash.

When the first quarter results were stated, the effects of the pandemic had barely been felt.  There wasn't much of a shift in their earnings.  Really, a much higher impact should be reported in the 2nd quarter as we are still very much in recovery.

Edited to add:  Pandemic in America started mid-March.  Businesses that cancelled subscriptions wouldn't even be evident in first quarter earnings report!  This will be a bad quarter.

Note - they will report earnings again at the end of this month, they surely had less income but it is also offset by lower royalties.

Content is starting to disappear, but what is happening to the content supply chain?  Can we see an effect yet on the numbers of new uploads?  I'm not sure how many days uploads were in pending at end of May, are they still working through the system.

I like the movement to suspend accounts on June 15, but WE REALLY SHOULD HAVE OUR CONTENT DISABLED AT MONTH END WHEN THEY REPORT THEIR NUMBERS TO SHAREHOLDERS.  It would be the first time the shareholders would see diminishing assets.

See the slide at about 18'40"

"Don't protect the core at the expense of innovation"

I expect that "content producer" are core?  NOt worth protecting?

It looks very much to me that yes, they are in the process of selling.

What are their expenses?  Real Estate and the cost of doing business (paper, desks, phones, travel etc.), Employees (and benefits), technology, marketing, Contributors, Reviewers  - what am I missing?

March 31 paid .17 per share in dividends.

June 1, promoted Pavlovsky to CEO and at virtually the same time as making abrupt changes:

-  Unilaterally slashed one expense - what it pays to the actual owners of the content.
-  Unilaterally fires content review team and contracts it out to Mumbai

*Note that the above two changes were made without notice.  (No, 5 days notice does not count).

- On about June 2/3, it became apparent that content was declining faster than it was increasing.  Possibly for the first time since SS came into business (This is an assumption, not an investigated fact)

-  On about June 2/3 SS reaches out to select excellent content producers with an offer to grandfather their May 2020 rate through December 31, 2020 before resetting to 0.

There are two things of note.  No notice of rate cuts and December 31, 2020.  I believe that a change is imminent.

And yes, Oringer is slowly selling shares.  June 1 and June 3 for roughly 1 million, although his still holds 16,240,365 shares, about $607M

I did not receive the letter.
I requested it and was told to wait 24 hours.
I asked for it again.
I was told it has been 3 days so my request has expired.
I was sent an email to see if I was happy with my recent customer service.
I filled out their survey and yes, the comments box.
In the middle of this I had to ask Martha for a copy of HER letter.
Yes, I get tons of useless messages from them but no, I haven't been given notice.

So.... Jon was done as CEO on April 1.  Covid-19 must have set them back a couple months, I'm surprized it took them 2 months to kick us in the knees.

The new CEO has a name, Stan Pavlovsky.  Right up there with Kelly Thompson and Jonathan Kline.

But money isn't going to be what makes us happy.  I should have listened the first time.
