General Stock Discussion / Re: This month's sales
« on: January 18, 2024, 05:18 »
The reason I asked was because adobe illustrator can easily convert them to vectors.

But, last I knew they didn't allow ai vector uploads. Wanted to find out if that policy have changed.

jps, they are ai creations

One day i would like to learn how to make my own from scratch.

Do you submit your ai illustrations in Jpeg format or EPS?

@Wilm

Thank you :)

It is certainly very motivating to upload to Adobe. Longterm my goal is to have this as a steady base income over the whole year. Probably needs 30k files to be reliable.

The sales also carried me over 6000 downloads, so I should be eligible for the full creative suit, which would be fantastic.

Like I said the main focus this year will be video. I will still do ai, especially illustrations, and also take up normal photos again, but video is where I believe are the biggest gaps in all collections.

My last year video income. I didnt really add content, so this is the result for basically doing nothing.

.pond5 1046 clips - 246 dollars

Adobe 243 mostly really old clips - 266 dollars

Blackboxglobal 505 files - 555 dollars

A few others with 20 dollars

I hope I can upload 1500 clips in total this year. More would be great, perhaps I can optimize my video workflow this year.

Overall the goal for 2024 is - another 1500 photos/illus

1000 normal photos, maybe including eyeem iphone content if they wake up again

1500 videos

That would be 4000 files accepted.

Not sure if I can actually make that.

Last year it was around 2800 files (over all content types and agencies)

But also spent a lot of time learning how to prompt.

And of course: quality over quantity.

30-40% of my time is just research, looking either for what is missing or how can I recreate generic content with a few details that makes them new. Ideallx new over all agencies.

Not always possible of course, some basic things, backgrounds flowers hearts, will be everywhere.

Mat, does this mean ai generated vectors are now allowed?

If not, how can a reviewer actually miss these?

While 120 a month is a lot, I am sure you will make your money back. I also think the privacy option is very important.

Still haven't tried midjourney, one day I will.

Happy to see you are enjoying ai.

The sales will come and bring a nice balance to your video sales.

Plus...everything you learn now you will be able to use when ai video comes.

Is there anything else other than Midjourney to generate usable stock photos?

adobe firefly, dall-e or stable diffusion. Plus a few others.

There are several apps or websites that uses these engines

But midjourney is by far the best quality.

I am just being very stubborn, at some point I will probably try midjourney.

For illustrations it looks like the new dall e 3 is very good, but it is not yet available for me in my openlabs account.

before dall-e 3 midjourney had no competition.. but I think "right now" dall-e 3 is a much better option.

pros of using dall-e 3 over midjourney:

- unlike midjourney, your creations are private. (no need to emphasize how important this is)
- dall-e 3 does a pretty good job with text. midjourney has no clue when it comes to text.

the only thing midjourney does better is realistic people images. once dall-e gets that right, midjourney will have trouble staying in business.

Do not submit generative AI vector images. If our policy changes on that, I will notify everyone here.

Thanks,

Mat Hayward

Hello Mat,

Thanks for finally providing a proper answer, because I haven't been able to get one from adobe support.

What about these portfolios then?
https://stock.adobe.com/uk/contributor/211464333/oleksandr?order=creation&asset_id=648697971
https://stock.adobe.com/uk/contributor/211603998/william?load_type=author&prev_url=detail&asset_id=651733836

They are obviously AI generated SVG files..

So most of the links are gone.  :)

I am not sure if they are gone for spamming or for the reason that adobe is not allowing ai vector uploads.

You still didn't get any info / reply  from Adobe on this issue ?

Nope..

and that's after I contacted them a 2nd time. I even talked to them on live chat and I get the feeling they are not sure what to tell me. I think they still haven't decided on the terms of ai vector uploads..

the guy I spoke to on live chat initially said: "it's totally fine to upload ai vectors to their collection"

but then I told him about the concerns raised in this thread, and reminded him there is no checkbox to mark the image as "generative ai" like there is in JPEG uploads.. he then gave me an email address and asked me to contact contributor support directly.

That was when I sent a 2nd email a couple of days ago.. There is still no answer.

DepositPhotos / Re: Removing photos from your DP port?
« on: October 23, 2023, 02:34 »
You cannot delete your images at all, you can only deactivate them, so they are not up for sale anymore.
You have a list of your online photos in your dashboard and there is a deactivate as well as an edit button next to each image. While that's relatively easy to access, you have to do it one by one. Depending on how many images you have in your port deactivating them all can take hours.

In their ToS they write if you cancel your account, all images will be deleted within a year, but remain in their database till then. They do not mention any rules about how they proceed with images sold through partner sites. Though, from what I have heard, having images removed from partner sites even after you delete content or a whole account is very often problematic on all stock agencies.

At some point I had a few images that I wanted to delete and after deactivating them, there was also a delete option. I don't know if that's still the case.

As a seasoned vector contributor, I feel like an idiot manually drawing my files.

I have just contacted adobe support to ask if this is actually allowed.

I hope Mat is around and he can clarify it for us. I can generate hundreds of these every day and submit them as vectors. Are we being punished for not breaking the rules? Or are the rules this flexible?

Did you get any answer from adobe support yet ?

Nope.. 5 days without a response!

I am not sure they know the answer.

If you look at the image numbers, this isn't from ages ago, but is recent. The rules are just ignored and the reviewers don't catch it.

Or reviewers did catch them but Adobe says let it in collection ?  ;)

I agree, they would be very easy to catch.

It seems all those vectorizers convert to SVG, hence all those AI vectors being SVG files, meanwhile non AI vectors get labeled as AI.
LOL too lazy to even set up an action to convert from SVG to eps 10. Nice.

I doubt they even know how to set up an action, yet here they are earning money as vector contributors. These are some crazy times  :)

Hello Mat,

I hope you are still following this thread because I have a question :)

If I redeem my complimentary single app plan now, could I upgrade it to all apps plan by paying the difference? Or would I still have to pay the full price for all apps plan even though I have a year of complimentary single app membership?

I hope the question was clear enough.

Thanks in advance for the answer if you are around.

There is a notice on their website saying "They will cease operations on October 1st".

So I guess this clears up all your confusions..

Sad to see them go. We had a good ride while it lasted.

I don't think there's a trick or particular tool. Just skill. Pay to download some and take a look.

actually there is a particular tool in the latest version of illustrator CC. I just didn't pay much attention yet but if anyone is interested, there are already some youtube channels making how to videos explaining the process. here is an example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EvnaJDvgEmM

edit: I am not sure how they got approved though. Last I knew EPS 10 was the latest accepted version for vector files. Pretty sure these aren't EPS 10 or an older version:

https://www.shutterstock.com/image-vector/online-shop-3d-render-realistic-vector-2070524291

so it appears shutterstock is accepting CC versions now. I guess it's time to stop saving my files to legacy versions :)

Adobe Stock / Re: PNG files on Adobestock - Some Questions
« on: August 14, 2022, 12:55 »
Hello Mat, would it be possible (at some point) to implement a fix so that we can upload our existing jpegs along with PNGs for the purpose of automatically generating the IPTC info of the files?

Although I see the PNG uploads as a good opportunity, adding metadata manually to 5000+ PNG illustrations feels like an impossible task.

edit: btw, I am going to generate the PNGs from existing EPS files automatically and my existing EPS files don't have any metadata. Even if I batch export (from EPS to PNG) I would first need to manually add metadata to all my EPS files.

GLStock / Re: GLStock is not paying!

If GLStock does not pay as they should and keep the images online against our will, this is clearly an infringement.
Well, the site is offline now. And I still have about $30 there.
What e-mail do you use to write them? [email protected] is failing to deliver.

[email protected]

They obviously took everything down and vanished.

Well I have given them a notice via email to delete my images in a reasonable time frame and make that final payment they owe to me..

Sites like https://www.pixsy.com/ are dying to sue people who steal images.. If GLStock does not pay as they should and keep the images online against our will, this is clearly an infringement..

Pixsy claims to have legal teams all around the world and they seriously love suing image thieves.. I may use their services soon if GLStock does not come to their senses..

I requested $70 in September and got in touch December, nothing in reply.

Yes, they still owe me $50+. And they don't respond and won't pay up.
I have been requesting payout for half a year now at least, and also email them. No response.

if there are other people not getting paid, they can chime in on this thread too.

I am sure they will pay as they have had a good track record up until recently.. But if they don't, then we can discuss our options.

I had the same problem last year. It took literally months to get them to pay up after loads of emails only some of which they bothered responding to. Best of luck, I hope you can get them to pay!

P.S. Good to see you on the forum. Hope business/ life is going well!

Oh they will pay! :) It's just I wanted everyone to know that it's not business as usual over there.

P.S. Thanks! Life is as good as it can be with a very active toddler ;)  Business outside microstock is ok, while earnings on all sites keep going down.. Hope things are well for you too. I haven't been able to spend time on these boards as I used to.

I have got $57 in my balance and requested payment in the beginning of January..

Now almost a month later, they still haven't processed that payment.

Anyone else having issues with their payouts?

One additional wrinkle in this story.  I just sent SF the following message:

Quote
I attempted to request payment of royalties on my account.  You now require a Certificate of Residency.  As a US resident, the cost of such a certificate is $85, which coincidentally is the amount of money owed to me.  Additionally, processing of the certificate and mailing it will likely take longer than you plan to be in business.  Is there any less onerous way to demonstrate my citizenship/residency that will satisfy your requirements?

Thank you for your attention.

you don't need to make it as complicated for yourself.. just a utility bill will do..
