stock is dead, crypto is the only way forward

Adobe Stock / Re: Sad story

Adobe video has tanked badly. There is no doubting that.

Maybe if you shoot footage for clients Black Box may be useful. However if your primary income is stock footage you'd have to have rocks in your head to use dilute your royalty even further by using Black Box. I am amazed at how many people have jumped on board.

still video producer think that they forever will earn 29 dollar per royalty and earn always enough? wake up video is already finished....pond5 is just surviving...like ss like adobe...soon everybody will cut royalty and sells video for 1,50 dollar....that'happens when 200 million people in the world think they can be a photographer videographer in a market who at most can sustain 200-300000. stop complaining , work hard  or quit, this is the state of industry.

It's also what happens when people boast of their stock footage earnings, make youtube videos about making income from stock and everyone starts promoting blackbox. Blackbox facebook page is a giant killer as well. Talk about getting everyone with a camera to become your direct competition and then wonder why it all collapses before your eyes.

Anyone of you guys noticed drop of views in the statistics tab? Now I'm getting 1-10 views (for the past ~7 days) where as I was usually getting more like 60-130 views per day.

Same here as well. P5 seem to be in self destruct mode.

I think the problem is Pond5 is dead. I'm picking they're bankrupt and now have a staff of one.

most agencies are about what I would expect. but on pond5 not a single sale so far.

I dont think it is competition from subs site, then ss would be affected too.

whatever they are doing, it is not helping sales.

Pond5 seems to have imploded. I wouldn't be surprised if they're withholding information about the sorry state of their finances

Stock photography died 5 years ago. Stock footage is dying now. People posting about their financial successes only accelerated the inevitable over-supply. Time to adapt and look for another way to make money people.

SS good month so far. Has been consistent for the past 6 years. P5 on the other hand is as good as dead this month. That's after 6 years of consistency there aw well. I wouldn't be surprised if P5 are in some sort of financial difficulty. I think a lot of their market share has been lost to other agencies.

Pond5 / Re: Pond5 sales

Pond5 have gone from one of the top two footage agencies, to quickly becoming a third rate agency. Whoever is running the show there has failed miserably over the past year. They need to act fast before their agency is destroyed beyond repair.

11
How to destroy one of the two leading video agencies in under 6 months, that's the story of Pond5's speedy demise.

Somehow the brainstrust at Pond5 blew it big time and should be held accountable. Heads should roll and answers given. Unfortunately they don't have to answer to us. In an ideal world it wouldn't be that way since they have absolutely nothing without our collective work.

Surely you can just work off funds deposited to your bank from Paypal. Those bank statements are fairly black and white proof of income.

Pauws99. I just voiced my opinion. Please respect it and I will respect yours.

Alamy, respect your contributors! Be charitable to us!
I signed up to contribute to a photo agency , not do charity. Charities should be kept completely separate.
I'm not sure that Alamy's profit margin is any different to the rest of the industry what difference would it make if they spent the profit on coke and lapdancers? When you signed up to them their business model was quite open.

I'm with you ravens. Blowing on about your charity generosity a few months after cutting commissions by 20% is not a good look.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Alamy - is it worth it?

Time and expense wise Alamy is not really worth it. However people are still prepared to waste tehir time doing it. Some weird sort of masochism IMO

Pond5 / Re: Any ideas to suggest to them?
« on: October 16, 2019, 01:57 »
Pond5 have dropped the ball majorly in the past year. Too many fancy moves instead of consolidating. Their turnover has always been dubious. On the negative side there is nothing contributors can do to complain since they owe us a grand total of nothing.

The more images that are added and the less that's paid out per contributor, the more it seems to attract people to the pot. Obviously nobody in the stock game has their own financial wellbeing in mind. Basically it's a good way to lose money fast but yet it seems to attract more and more lemmings.

Please start another company for your charity aspirations and stop using contributor commissions to make you look generous. It's a bit of a sham
They are open about how it works. No one is forcing you to submit work there.

Tremendous that you're happy with them donating our commissions to charity.

It is not possible to make more than 10% of a living from stock media

$25K a month is 10% of a living?! You must have some fancy tastes!

Nobody believes when people boast of huge earnings. It's obvious they're just trying to boost their ego and probably only earn a few dollars every now and then

They should just give free codes to anyone who nets over US$1500 a year.

They are a joke. I trialed them a few years ago. To date the only site I couldn't get a video sale. I'd say delete

Pond5 / What's up with P5
« on: September 12, 2019, 19:28 »
Anyone else noticed a drying up of sales since P5's 20% commission grab? My SS sales are steady, P5 is struggling the past few months. Whatever they're doing with their extra commission, it doesn't seem to be increasing turnover.

25
The SB/VB collection is reasonably average in comparison to SS/P5. Hopefully clients recognize the gulf in quality and quantity
