Some of my agents pay me through Paypal and others through Payoneer.

In my experience I always get a better rate from Payoneer - even after the $3 transaction fee.

I have not been informed of the expiration date for the bonus codes yet. This information will be provided when you receive the code. If your current plan is the exact same as the plan offered in the bonus, you should be able redeem the code and have the time added to the end of your existing subscription.

Thank you for the info Mat. Unfortunately I won't make the video download threshold for the whole package so I'll have to make some sort of adjustment.

I believe the codes will be given out in February 2021.

My question is: By when does the code have to be redeemed? Do you know Matt?
The code I'm using now runs out in October 2021 so I wouldn't want to redeem it till then.

I'm in the same boat too. It seems extremely sporadic. I only film in RAW or Pro Res 4444 with a high end sony video cam, with no noise at all. And still I get noise and artifact rejections. I've even added clips with film grain in the title and they still get rejected. I think it must be AI.
Yet if I film on my iphone in h.264 they seem to pass more often. Crazy.

I'm uploading a lot less to Shutterstock for these reasons yet sales are really strong. So flippin annoying.

It is annoying - this last couple of months have even resembled the old days! - which is why I thought I'd start submitting again.

Such a shame that your video was rejected and you can't sell your clip for $1!

You are so correct. But the reality is worth mentioning - yesterday I had 15 sales of stills & clips: 7 sales were for $1.16 each, 2 for $.10 each, 1 for $.12, 1 for $10.84 and 2 for $300 each. Total for the day $619.28
So I now can't sell those clips at any of those prices - not just the $1.16 ones.

I've had this periodically over the years and haven't submitted for a few months.
Just submitted a batch and every single one (all different subjects, different situations, bright light, daytime, lowest ISO) rejected because of noise. I have about 12,000 videos with the same camera selling here.

Is anyone getting any videos accepted or is it not worth the bother submitting?

Once again - thank you Adobe and Matt.

I've just redeemed this year's code (last year's can wait till this one expires)
Everything worked brilliantly. I had been using CS6 and on opening PP2020 it warned me that the graphics driver was not up to the job. Luckily I was able to get a new driver (from Nvidia) that PP2020 is happy with.

I used the Adobe installer - and had a choice of which software and which version I wanted. As I have PP CS6, LR6 and PS5.5 I can keep them on the same computer side by side so can always go back to them in the future if the subscription gets too high or to use old projects as things are not backward compatible.

I might even dabble with Audition and AE

Thank you Pablito

I still don't know the system. I don't know if the link takes me to the 12-month counter, or simply gives you a code. I don't know if the period starts since the code is granted or since the cloud registration is done or since the link is clicked. I don't know if in February 2020 the link doesn't work anymore. I don't know if the link gives you the code and can be saved until February 2020.

I'm afraid I have two options, give the link now and find out or activate the link in February and find out what's going on.

Sorry my message wasn't clear. I think you should do as I did and contact Adobe - they were quick to respond, helpful and gave the information I wanted.

Greetings @Mat Hayward, is the link maintained for a year or does it expire?

I do not plan to use the code in a few months. Should I get the code through the link and can I use it at any time, or does the link activate the code at that time?

Thank you

This year's code is valid 12 months from when you receive it. Once you redeem it the software is activated for 12 months. Don't worry I haven't redeemed last year's yet never mind this year's.

« on: June 07, 2019, 16:50 »
Mat,

Just watched your recording of the webinar - very interesting. I know the webinar is over but you said Paul was your "go to" guy. So is there any chance you could go to him and ask this question?

When you talked about frame rates, it was passed over quite quickly with Paul talking about artistic intent and that it's "easy" to convert frame rates.
I know there's no definitive answer to this (I sell all frame rates quite well) but I want Paul on the spot! We see sales; we never get speak to buyers all round the world.

My question is:
Leaving artistic intent aside, leaving power sources in PAL/NTSC countries and flickering aside - If you had to have all your footage with one frame rate for buyers all round the world who want them for all sorts of end uses - which one frame rate would Paul choose based on what Adobe buyers have said. i.e. which one does he feel has the most general lack of resistance.

Here's the choice:  29.97   25   23.976

Let me ask you this?  What stock site do you earn the most from?  So far for me, it is SS hands down.  But most of my images go for $0.25 on SS, so it takes a lot of sales to make anything.  I was hoping to make higher commissions on Alamy, but I am not sure how long it really takes to start getting sales on there, and what kind of quantity you have to have.

How big is the collection you are considering putting onto Alamy exclusively? Are they nature shots?

Simplify your life and go exclusive at Getty / iStock.
For video? That's a very unusual suggestion!!!

Depends how much you value your time.
That's what I mean. I've just read the January stats thread over there. Looks like video is really scraping the barrel price wise, almost as bad as photos.
Not worth the time to shoot, process and upload at iStock; hardly for stills, not for video at all.
Totally agree with you Shady, I stopped submitting video to iStock a few years ago - they dropped well out of my big 4 when they dropped their pricing.

Alamy.com / Re: Almay Sale for $1.25
« on: January 19, 2019, 04:42 »
Hello, I just made a new sale on Alamy. The buyer paid a whopping $1.25. Is that even possible? I hardly ever make a sale on Alamy. For that money it's not worth uploading and all that time consuming tagging.

There are a wide variety of sales prices on Alamy. These are my latest - nothing big so far this month, but well worth having.

[\quote]Thanks Pablito, i hadn't considered what you said... terrible, as a matter of principle one would think that uploading to 20 agencies would have more potencial than 4 or 5... you give a different insight... by big for, you mean (i suppose), SS, P5, AS, IS?
[/quote]

Everyone has their own version of the "big four"  ;)  It's SS and P5 and any permutation of three or four others  ;D

Blackbox for me is the way to go. Upload to 5 agencies with one easy upload. A good support system on facebook with over 10,000 members. You should look into it.

I can see the benefits and it could suit some people.
However, it's worth quantifying to yourself how much it costs to have "one easy upload" in terms of money, flexibility and control.
How do the 5 different income streams get to your bank account? That's a rhetorical question - but it's worth having a long and hard think about it.

Before uploading your material to every agent under the sun - read their contract!

It's very easy to upload to one agent who then uploads it to another sub-agent who then does the same again. You'll see your footage popping up on sites you didn't even know existed.
Apart from diluting your % earnings big time (and possibly never having the money filter through the various companies back to you) you can end up with one of your agents competing with your own pictures in another agent at a much reduced %. In other words, it's possible to lose control of your work - and just as important, control of your income stream. It's not happening much so far with the footage agents but it will..... when things get tighter; just as it did with the stills market. I could write a book on that.

I've seen it (and unfortunately experienced it) all before - I've been full-time non-exclusive, multi-agent for over 30 years.
So my advice is - stick to the big four and read their contract. So no surprises in the future - well at least you'll cut down on the surprises  ;D
Oh and that suggestion of exclusivity - there is not an agent right now that can justify image exclusivity never mind photographer exclusivity, but it is a great way to put all your eggs in one little precarious basket and cross your fingers.

Thanks, but I never signed anything with Getty. Did Corbis just delete my library? I have most of the images backed up, but it seems like there should be someplace they were stored?

Corbis wouldn't have deleted your images.
Getty would have contacted you. Just about everything went to Getty. Even non-exclusive files were taken by Getty (at 25% royalty). It was all in the contract they sent out. I had about 3500 images and Getty assigned them to another photographer!! Admittedly this other guy had the same name as me so very easy mistake to be made  ;D Took me a year to get them assigned to me and my existing Getty images.
Anyway - you'd better contact Getty.
