Pond5 / Re: 4K priced 199$, sold for 47.99$?!
« on: June 11, 2020, 05:32 »
I forgot to mention that all three options: Global Partner Program, Limited License Program, and Optimized Marketplace Pricing are unchecked for months...

Nice Pond5, really nice...

Ill write a complain now.

Instead of complaining, let's first take a closer look.

The GPP sales are from November-May (at the latest, could even be several months before November depending on the global delay), so, unless "unchecked for months" means BEFORE November 2019, it is all perfectly in order.

So you want to say that this purchase happened months ago and it showed up in my account today?!

Yes, that is exactly what I want to say.

We only get GPP reports every 6 months (give or take), and they are for sales going back at least 6 months. First, they get the reports from all the companies they work with, and then send out the payments to us.

This is why the delay is actually likely to be MORE than 6 months, maybe even up to 9 months. It of course depends on the delay from all of the global companies in the first place, and how long it takes to put together a detailed list for us.

But we can be sure that it AT LEAST covers sales from November, since the last GPP report was in November. More likely, however, even sales from September-October may be included here.

Ok, i understand now. Thank you. Just sad i didnt opt-out earlier than. Anyway it is a shame selling 4K footage for 47.99.

I my opinion all the people that still opt-in this kind of sales actually support low earnings (more low earnings doesn't mean they will earn more money), and shutterstock way of seeing things.

Mindset "something is better than nothing" will just lead us into shutterstock 1.5$, and 0.6$ earnings (which from January 1 will ne 0.75$ and 0.3$ per video clip).

People opt-out of this kind of licenses while we still can. 5$ per video clip is unsustainable, imagine what 0.3$ will do to you.

Pond5, and Adobe WILL follow shutterstock way if we don't raise our voice.

Join the group to do so: https://www.facebook.com/groups/261369748434285/?fref=nf     (Its not mine, its Stock submitter coalition that emerged from this SS situiation).

All the best!

And what does it means GPP sales are from November until May? They happen only in this period?

You are totally right that it is not Ok to sell your work on partner sites if you have those options unchecked and I hope they really backtrack and give you a good explanation for this mistake. I am opted in as they might be reaching markets that I don't (I am not at Vimeo, nor any asian footage agency etc). But always monitoring prices and commisions closely. When the day comes that it is not more lucrative to stay at P5 or Adobe I will disable/close my account the same way I just did with Shutter and the same way I never sent a single video file to Istock. This day has not come yet.

Yes definitely some partner program. I got 6 of those yesterday and all 47.99 except one for 42.34$, so net close to 20$. Not complaining. At Shutterstock my latest sales before disabling portfolio were between 0.60$ to 18$. Cannot imagine how it looks out there now. Adobe is bringing also some nice figures but so far P5 is the best of the two.

Well, you should write a complain if you opted-out of GPP, and stuff like that.
You should write it because if you let agency sell your files at whatever price they want eg. 4K 199$ fot 47$, and you get 40% of that 47% - that is not good man. It is very bad actually!

If its higher that SS currently, just wait for some time, you WILL see those 1.5$ and 0.6$ sales on Pond5 also.

When that day comes, my friend, you will stop earning from stock footage, you and everybody else. So, all hard work will be gone.

Comments on Instagram have been turned off.

I consider this to be a small victory, which basically means that a lot of us actually can do something!

Keep spamming SS on all media, social networks. Spam them with truth, nothing more. And the truth is that they are corporate greed dictatorship living on contributor backs.

Second thing is stop uploading.

Do this things and lets see what happens.

Don't worry. They will backtrack on this. They already know our reaction and in a few days they will say that in consideration to contributoros they will honor the percentage finished at the years end to roll over to january. All very studied.

They are aware that as it stands now many people will stop submitting content and competition will benefit great from this. Calculations have been made a long time ago. Getty deja vu repeated again. Welcome to the matrix.

It is possible that something like this can happen. Its actually very old trick.

if you want to raise tax for 5%, you go into public with information that you are going to raise tax for 8%, then all the people go on rage frenzy, after 2-3 weeks of this, and some kind of negotiations, they come to conclusion that 5% increase is a win-win situation. Remember that 5% increase was initial idea.

Flood social their social media with truth about their greed.

Negative rating on their app, and truth in comments.

Stop uploading on SS

« on: May 13, 2020, 04:18 »
For me:

SS is above average for first half of May. Will see how it goes till the end. January and February were disaster on SS, but it came back from March, topping average in May.
P5 where i have most of my portfolio slowed last few months.
AS very slow as usual, but kinda warming up in 2020.

Do you guys sell somewhere else, and if yes where?  :-[    I sold on few more platforms, but removed files and accounts (storyblocks, dreamstime, motionelements..)

May i ask you why did you close your account on storyblock and motionelements??

Well Storyblocks closed themselves because of their own marketplace. Motionelements was super slow (only few sales in 2-3 years) with some new licensing or whatever "promotions" that i didn't like, so i went away.

Are you on those platforms?

I got 1,37$ sale today!  >:(

Just (again) had 2x 0.60$ at SS. Similar clips (construction/concrete). This is disgraceful.
0.60$ sales started before this new subscription plan.

Is there a way to find out which resolution was bought?

I just got a 0.60$ footage sale  8)  Best agency ever.

Was that SS? Or somewhere else??

Sadly on SS.

Wow. Just wow.

Exactly.

Every time this 1.5$ sales come i write to SS support. So i did for 0.6$ sale. And got response in manner that i already got response for my 1.5$ question few weeks earlier. And that response was that SS is selling low res files for web use or something like that. At least it would be nice to have insight to what licence footage has been sold, and for how much $.

Yes, making it clear if it was some new deal or some old limited use would sure make a difference. Not for me, I went exclusive on Pond5 last year, but I'd think that making the actual license type clear from those who care, would be a good thing.

How is exclusive on P5 going? If i may ask  8)

Pond5 / Re: Hyperstock
« on: April 16, 2020, 12:40 »
After 10 months with 380-698 views and less sales, for 3 months now i have much less views 100-300 (normal, as before) with more sales. Just saying.

22
This a price race, whos going to give more for less... And IT IS ALL ON BACKS OF CONTRIBUTORS.
Also, another thing responsible for race to the bottom is ever growing YouTube/Instagram/"influencer" industry. P5 said that hyperstock is for those kind of buyers. I opted-out immediately.

At least P5 tried this on another platform, and responded to contributor displeasure. SS is stuffing this crap in our mouth and letting us find out last.

Not to mention 1.5$ video sales, not i have 4.77$, and 9.95$ for god knows what resolution. Almost all my video is 4K, bunch of it aerial.

Oh, i had one 0.60$ video sale  8)

23
The real crap happens when you submit 10-15GB of video clips and they all get rejected for some i d i o t i c reason. Then you have to UPLOAD AGAIN, and it usually passes... Its just wonderful.
