You are definitely right about SEO. Before posting I looked around to give the links a nofollow tag in the forum format, but I couldn't find anything. Any ideas how I could do that?

2
And now you have posted two posts, two links to this scum, helping them with advertising. change the url to something not a clickable link.
This forum is the last place I would expect to find the beneficiaries of that website, so I'm not really concerned about advertising it here. Or so I hope.

It needs to be as visible as possible among us so that many of us send reports to affected stock sites in order to get this cancer taken down fast.

3
Ok, I'll just post this in the main forum, apparenlty I'm getting nowhere in this section.

4
Check this thread from a year ago.
The site I am warning about is a clone of that.

Guys, I'm warning you about a website that facilitates stealing images from stock sites, and your concern is the semantics of the word sleuth?

The "diversion page" is the CloudFlare DDoS protection, it's something automatic when a page gets too many hits. It's a service that can be implemented on any site.

6
Is this not the Image Sleuth section? What do you mean suspicious?

Image Sleuth / Tomato.to removes watermark from any stock image

Yeah, I think we saw this story before.

Adobe uses their software to integrate Stock, making it very easy for artists and designers to search and download images directly from within their software. Hit Ctrl-F in Photoshop and you can see the search for stock option right there, you don't even have to open the web browser, you just click the image and it's instantly in your PS composition.

They are a click away from their clients and can use very effective targeted advertising for their platform, while the other agencies still have to use traditional marketing and deals. I see a bright future for Adobe.

Paypal / Re: Personal vs Business account
« on: November 06, 2017, 01:30 »
Hi chrisphoto,

I'm from a EU country too, and last year I moved from a personal PayPal account to a business one.

Regarding stock agencies payments, nothing changed: the only fee that I pay is the currency exchange fee of 2.5% between USD and EUR which is actually hidden in their exchange rate (which is 2.5% less good than the current exchange rate you'll find on google for example).

This is because stock agencies are paying us using the "mass payment" system, which is different than when someone send you money on PayPal using the regular way. With the mass payment system, all transfer fees are actually paid by stock agencies (and it's quite low).

Having a business account on PayPal is useful for me because I have access to monthly account reports in PDF format that I can use for accounting purpose. Except a few differences in the interface and added features, I have exactly the same experience with the business account than with the personal one.
Awesome! Thanks a lot. This cleared things up. :)

Paypal / Re: Personal vs Business account

Just to be clear, I am from an EU country.

Source 1 - Personal vs business comparison table:
https://www.paypal.com/us/selfhelp/article/what-are-the-fees-for-paypal-accounts-faq690#business

Business account. Selling with PayPal:
If you receive money for goods or services, the fee for each sale is 4.4% plus $0.30 USD, or lower (the more you sell, the less you pay).
Receiving money Personal payments:

It's free to receive money from friends or family in the U.S. when they send the money from the PayPal website using only their PayPal balance or their bank account.

Which one applies in our case of receiving money via PayPal? First or second?

-------------

Source 2 - Terms of Service https://www.paypal.com/vn/webapps/mpp/ua/useragreement-full#017
The Terms of Service fee table states that:

Sending or Receiving personal transactions
Free (when no currency conversion is involved)
A small (0.5% in my case) cross border fee is applied, though.

Commercial Transactions
3.4% + Fixed Fee
Cross border fee (1% if sent from US) is applied on top of that.

-------------

Source 3 - Fees table in the menu - https://www.paypal.com/ro/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_display-fees-outside
Personal Transfer (Send or Receive) - Free when the money comes from PayPal balance.

We have 3 sources of fees. How should I interpret this?

Paypal / Personal vs Business account
« on: November 05, 2017, 06:20 »
Hi guys,
I was wondering if anyone can share their experience on receiving money on a personal vs a business account.

I checked several places for information and what I understood was that on a personal account, if you receive money from another PayPal account, there are no fees.

On the other hand, on a business account you are always added a fee regardless of the source of money (PayPal or Card).

Is this correct?

12
Yeah, I'm also looking for an answer to this.
I'm also from the EU and I'm interested in what the advantages/disadvantages of both options would be.
As a freelancer I also am the holder of a sole proprietorship entity (with a business TIN issued by my country).

From what I understood from Shutterstock support, if you already have files uploaded as individual you have to transfer the copyright of all the content to the company you want to be represented by.
They sent me a form for that purpose, but I haven't sent it back yet.

MicrostockSubmitter / Re: Pricing plan
« on: November 02, 2017, 15:24 »
Price/uploaded image (6 months plan):

Starter - 0.033
Lite - 0.033
Casual - 0.041
Professional - 0.033

Any reason for the higher price/uploaded image on Casual plan?

Hi there,

I've just tried your app and I love it! I would be interested in purchasing a paid plan, but I find the pricing a bid odd.
The difference between Lite and Casual plans is double the price 8.3 vs 16.7, but you can upload less than double the images.

Professional plan is double the price of Casual (16.7vs33.3) but you can upload MORE than double the number of photos.

Is it me, or does it seem a bit odd to be paying double for Casual and getting less? :)

General Stock Discussion / Re: How to release tattoo ?
« on: October 25, 2017, 12:59 »
Adobe (Fotolia) seems to be getting this right.
Quote from the requirement page - https://helpx.adobe.com/in/stock/contributor/legal/property-release.html

"Tattoos are considered works of art, so you need to take into consideration the prominence of a tattoos display and the content of the tattoo itself. You dont need a release if the tattoo isnt the main focus of the photo. However, a property release is required in these cases:

The tattoo is close up and the primary focus.
The tattoo depicts celebrities.
The tattoos subject is trademarked or copyrighted (e.g., a logo or character)."

That is my opinion, as well. The tattoo doesn't add commercial value to the image, it's not the the subject of the images in any way.
It would be if the images were about a tattoo shop, or, as Daryl Ray said, being a close shot.
The images are about a couple having fun around Christmas time.

But, oh well, I'm just venting, I don't think any representative of Shutterstock is reading this anyway.

It's funny to see that out of the big 4, only Shutterstock seems to be having this policy, all the others accepted the images.
I don't know if they've had issues in the past, but the scalded cat fears cold water, it seems.

I can understand when a work of art has a clear boundaries in space, such as the case with the Dancing Steps.
However, when the work of art becomes part of the person itself, don't you think we are sailing on somewhat different waters?

The canvas is the person himself and, in my opinion, the subject's consent should have the same value as the one signed by the tattoo artist.

I'm talking about fundamental issues of identity and property.
Don't you find the idea of someone gaining property rights on your body a bit outrageous?

I've just got my first images rejected for showing tattos. I think the claim to have PR for tattoos is a bit ridiculous given the explosion of their popularity in recent years.

From my recent batch, getty accepted all the images showing tattoo.
Shutterstock rejected all of them where even a small part was visible (29 of them).

Can you imagine how bizarre the conversation would be? "Yeah, I'm the guy you tattooed 6 years ago. Can I have your permission to use my arm?".
