Shutterstock.com / Re: 0.25 USD per footage on SS
« on: June 29, 2021, 04:42 »
I didn't accept any new scheme, not sure how I ended up with this new "payment" per footage. Long story short, if last years SS was paying decent, from a minimum of 20-25 USD per sale, now we will have literally 100 footage sold for getting that 25 dollars.
Maybe next year 0.25 per footage will be luxury  :(  >:(  don't see a way to go back to good old payments times

The month is not yet ended, and I have over 100 sales of footage at price 0.25 USD. What have I done wrong :)?

« on: August 02, 2018, 02:08 »
Hi,

I read this post in April, when it started, and I could't believe that a footage can be sold by 5 USD (1.5 dollars contributor's share). And then it started: May, 1 video sold on my account at 1.5 usd, June 4 videos, July 6 videos. The number is growing, month by month, I send them an email about this, their answer was: "we fully understand and respect your decisions related to your portfolio and content. There is no option to opt-out of this license use. These clips are for web or mobile application only, they can only be streamed, not downloaded".

So, I and you all will keep selling videos for almost nothing, without any right to choose if we want it or not ! This is the conclusion

So, my opinion, there are a lot of heroes here. Honestly, don't hold your breath for 1000 usd per month, it's not easy to achieve. Certainly are contributors, top contributors, who earn thousands of usd per month, but it's easy to spot them: they are well promoted, they have account with 20K, 40K, sometimes 80K footage, professional cameras, actors, huge investments in their portfolio etc. More realistic is that you can work 2-3 years, not full time, and earn maybe 400-500 usd. But the market is huge, 11 milions footage already, so either you do it full time, and you add 5000 footage every year, with a large variety of subjects and ideas, or you can do it for passion, and earn enough to buy new gadgets, tools, cameras, etc. This is my opinion, don't hold your breath and dream of huge amounts of income, it's not that easy. I worked 4 years, but not full time, I keep adding material, and now I earn let's say 400 usd average per month.

Hope it helped you, and maybe you see a little bit of reality, how it actually is the stock footage business. Good luck!

SS was quite normal for me, pond5 also in good selling mood these months, not great but good, but my work and time spent on adobe for upload material really doesn't pay off. I don't know why or what customers do they have, but it's sad, I barely sell something per month from some hundreds...thanks a lot all for your answers, this way I found out that it's not just me frustrated and without sales on adobe

Adobe Stock / adobe footage sales

Hi everyone, can you share with us how were the last 2 months in selling videos? March and April for me where almost nothing, and I saw that adobe is on the 2nd place in the market earnings rating. Curious, maybe photos are a better selling here, or maybe my footage material is not what they need on their platform.
Which is your experience on adobe footage market?

This kind of post it's not singular, and if you will look carefully, as the time passes, more people complain about lower sales on forums. I guess that the market is becoming overcrowded, pond5 is over 10 millions of footage, and every week about 20K are added. I can tell you about my February sales, comparing to 2017- in 2018 I sold only 20% :) . The idea is that a month means nothing, could go wrong, my problem is that in 2017 I sold with 9% less than in 2016.

Almost all of the contributor feel a drop in their sales comparing to last years. Far too many footage on stock market I guess.

Pond5 / Re: Something is wrong on pond5 sales since September 2017
« on: February 13, 2018, 09:14 »
It's obviously that we, the ones who write here angry, are not pro. BUT, pond5 for me at least was a great seller, and not just 1 month or 3 months. Almost 4 years of good income. Without being a top contributor or a specialist with the best quality material, I sold, and more I added more I sold. It was an honest income. I checked February 2017 vs February 2018, it's a disaster :)

I read opinions on sales on different forums, and a lot of contributors share the same frustration recently, so it is what it is, apparently the good times on pond5 are gone. We should accept that!

January and february 2018 update on my account: shutterstock sales in these 2 months - 27 sales and a lot of days till the end of february (more than 1.000 usd). Pond5 sales in these 2 months ...6 sales (less than 180 usd). Is there any reliable explanation?

Ok, thanks, hope that older contributors will share their experience and selling rate, to make it clearer for all the new adobe comers.

Hello everyone,

Could you help me with an information, the video selling rate (how many sales per month do you have and how many footage are in your portfolio), on Adobe? I know that they are not accept editorials, and just asking to know how Adobe contributors feel about their sales and work behind it, it's worth it, it's increasing the revenue in time, it's decreasing? I want to upload 1K footage and want to understand what to expect!

Thanks :)

So, if your material will be bought more from membership collection, more you will earn; if you have bad luck and sell very few material you can earn nothing in some months from membership. Basically is the same system as is on pond5, but instead of gaining 50% from a bigger price, you will earn a smaller percentage from a much smaller footage price.

Is that correct?

Hello, I also had a remarkable drop in sales with the membership program last year. This year I am invited, but I'm not very clear how they will cash me in, because the 50 cents per selected footage is not anymore the pond5 way. Do you understand how the income might grow, how we will be paid based on new membership program?

Thank you for your reply.

Talking about SEO, everything I upload, is on the page 1-5 from 500 sometimes. I'm not debating here my material, I'm not a pro contributor, I know that, but surely I'm no amateur shooting parks and dogs and lakes. My stock has tourism landmarks (london, paris, amsterdam, madrid, barcelona, dubai, sofia, lyon, edinburgh, etc etc) and around 8K of model release footage.

I ask others contributors if there sales drop 10 times or more in the last 4 months. Suddenly it happened to my account to stop selling, in the past more I added more I sold. Now I'm not selling what I used to sell in the past, I add more material, I don't sell the new, I don't sell the old. I contacted pond5 support, and they said that market is getting bigger, more contributors, more material, the sales would divide to more and more people, bigger competition lower sales.

So, you who have pond5 accounts for some time, did your sales drop dramatically ??? Thanks

Pond5 / Something is wrong on pond5 sales since September 2017
« on: January 16, 2018, 03:06 »
I am a contributor on ShutterStock and Pond5 for almost 4 years. Every month pond5 had a better sales than shutterstock. The problems I had were how to increase sales on SS, what material should I bring, pond5 was a constant, I was pleased. In the last 4 months, pond5 lost the way, I speak only about my account, I barely sell 1-2-3 footage/month. Be aware that my account now has 12K footage. If Shutterstock has increased in the last year, pond5 I don't know why it's going down. In October I sold 1 footage from more than 11K, 1!!!! footage, November and December 3 sales, January 2018 it's 16th and I sold so far...0! Nothing!

Everyone with this problem in the last months, it's weird to keep adding hundreds of videos and selling less and less?

Thanks!
