Software / X-Rite Colormunki Photo - Monitor Calibration
« on: March 04, 2018, 03:32 »
Hi all,

I have just calibrated an iMac 27 inch Mid-2011...for the first time since buying it in the same year. When comparing the before and after, the difference was imperceptible, nothing I could see at all.

Has anyone experienced similar? I am asking because I was expecting (was led to believe) that the initial correction would be quite noticeable. If this is normal then hats off to Apple :) If it is not normal then perhaps there is an issue with the device or the software.

Thank you, Rob.

Hi all,

I started with stock over the last couple of weeks, and thus far I've loaded about 20 images, each to various sites, essentially learning the submission process for each of them. Having (finally) found my Dreamstime port as seen by purchasers, one of measurements I noticed was PORTFOLIO EXPOSURE and DATABASE EXPOSURE, both at 0%. Do these indicate no-one has viewed an image and none of my images have been found via search, respectively? No issues with that BTW, very early days for me.

I'm also curious as to why DT is advertising TIFF formats of my images, as I haven't uploaded any?

Thanks, Rob.

I asked PayPal a number of questions via their secure message service, and it was clear by the response they read none of them, so with your leave good people I will ask here :)

The email address I used when I originally signed up with PayPal, is the email address I put in my stock agency profiles for payment? Nothing else (other than ticking the PayPal option...)?

Also, I understand I could record another email address in PayPal, and use that one (my more photography related email address)? How do I do that?

Ta!

Newbie Discussion / Copyright Metadata
« on: February 05, 2018, 04:55 »
Hi all,

I've been a hobbyist photographer for a few years (wrapped around the 40 hour week...) but I'm very new to stock photography, like about a week. I've passed my first QC for Alamy and Shutterstock and I'm waiting for a couple of others before I open more accounts. I've always applied a metadata preset including copyright on import into LR. I noted though, and I think from memory it was Alamy, it was said to take out the copyright metadata before submitting, which I duly did. My question is, do you more experienced folks just leave it in, and it is stripped automatically by most agencies, or should I just adapt my workflow and put my copyright data in after export?

Thanks very much in advance, Rob.
