Sold images for $0,1 and drone aerials for $3 the last few days.. starting to feel like iStock, looking at 6months to reach $100, and thats just ridiculous. Should I deactivate? Or just stop uploading to SS, like I did with iStock 2,5 years ago.

It's getting easy to upload these days. Just two agencies left for my part, Adobe Stock and Pond5. I have a huge collection of uniq aerials shots on high end equipment like Red/Alexa from helicopter and drone + Inspire 2 with Zenmuse X7. If the choice stands between "iStock-prices" at $0,3 for a video clip or not selling them as stock, I won't sell them as stock, not worth the upload/tag time at all. So my last video upload to Shutterstock was of April 2020, iStock is now two years since I stoppet uploading to.

New Sites - General / Re: New stock site SCOP.IO
« on: November 27, 2019, 16:55 »
This was discussed a couple of months ago. Stay away from Scopio. I uploaded som files there six months ago just for fun, but you get no stats.. you have to rely on them informing you by email if you sell any. Several of my pictures are on the first search page, but haven't heard anything about sales. After watching interviews of the owner I do belive this is someone only trying to earn off others and scam some photographers ny not reporting sales to them.

I suggest DaVinci Resolve, free version. I'ts pretty straight forward, you don't need to use all advanced settings. Import video in "Media" tab, add to timeline in "Edit" tab, then if you need to do basic adjustments like temperature etc use the "Color" tab, then choose "Deliver" tab for export.

Pond5 / Re: Any ideas to suggest to them?
« on: October 17, 2019, 03:25 »
4K clips shouldn't cost buyers double that of HD....I would suggest only a 20% premium max.

You are free to set your own prices at Pond5 under Account->Preferences->Customize downconverted price percentages. :)

Microstock Services / Re: Microstockr - Canceling subscription

For Android you have to find the app in Google Play and cancel the subscription there.

I tried to upload some photos to them, because they contacted me on IG. But you don't have any account or stats.. you have to rely on them emailing you if get a sale.. and I wouldn't trust that. Haven't had one email and my photos are on the first page of some of the search results.  To me the owner(s) feels like someone trying to get som fast money for themselves by cheating on the contributors, after watching some videos and interviews about the site.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: I QUIT iSTOCK
« on: September 30, 2019, 02:17 »
Stopped uploading there 2 years ago when they started selling my 4K videos shot on Inspire2 or Alexa/Red for $0,40. I still have my old material there, haven't deleted anything and regularly receive $4-10 for 4-10 sold high quality 4K videos. As long as they keep up with that I won't upload anything there.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Property release for a plane??
« on: February 15, 2019, 09:34 »
Haha I can relate to this one, I go through every image and video and I never have problems with property release or model release at any other site, but iStock.. oh lord, sometimes I feel like I should have a property release for planet earth.

General Stock Discussion / Re: download your own images/videos
« on: December 03, 2018, 09:36 »
I use Adobe Bridge to add metadata to all my files, then keep them on a 4TB Lacie drive. Besides that I know Nimia let you download your own videos.. haven't found anything like this on other sites.

« on: November 27, 2018, 04:15 »
All my files get reviewed, but sometimes it could take up to 3-4 months. So I just throw pre-tagged files into my FTP and let them stay in the automatic "pending" mode after they are processed. This is no work at all and is the only reason I still upload there.

« on: November 22, 2018, 03:44 »
Somebody I know beat that fantastic record of 1.50 by 0.20!!  hahaha!  so guys come on lets make lots of 4K for them and why not 8K since youre at it!! ::) ;D ;D

I understand it was a joke, but just for info, Pond5 is the only place I've found who accept anything above 4K.

Adobe Stock / Re: Inaccurate Data showing at FT
« on: October 03, 2018, 04:37 »
I had to check this out, and same behaviour on my account, several hundre views a day, but sales are way down from a while back when I only had xx views.

15
I don't know why, but my sales stopped on Ft/As and my FT rank has dropped drastically to 22.300

Same, Adobe/Fotolia used to be good, but suddenly stopped selling like normal.. Shutterstock on the other hand doubled sales x 3 the last months. Strange.

General - Stock Video / Framerate
« on: October 01, 2018, 03:45 »
Do you shoot videos in different framerates, if so, does any sell better than others?

18
Combined Pond5, Adobe and SS together becomes regularly, in my case. The place I actually sell most videos is from my now outdated library at iStock, but with the $0.49 it doesn't even come close to what only one sale a month would give me at Pond5.

19
I price all my HQ videos to $199 at Pond5. Those I know is a little less interesting or shot with a budget camera I price to $99. Because I don't want my videos to be much more expensive at Pond5 than on Adobe Stock/Fotolia. And I think the 50% I get from Pond5 is a fair price. I also upload my videos to any service that pay approximately the same. iStock i stopped uploading to nearly a year ago, because I will never sell footage shot with RED/Alexa/Zenmuse-X7 for $0.49.

« on: September 21, 2018, 03:08 »
Is there any good answers to why they wont't let us know about a sale immediately like on the other stock sites? To me it feels like if they need money at the end of the month they will just adjust some statistics in their favour. Anyhow, I stopped uploading to them in January due to $0.30 video sales.

I had to Google some of this sites an I can't say I'm that impressed. Top contributor on one of the sites is a lady with thousands of pictures shot with cell phone or similar..

General - Stock Video / Re: Drone Image Bank stock site
« on: September 04, 2018, 03:28 »
Hmm but do they have clients and good servers. I have a lot of drone and helicopter aerials and I'm being approached regularly by these aerial stock sites. I gave a couple of them a try like Airstoc and AES, but  their pages are slow and sales not good. Adobe Stock as an example are selling my 4K material for $199, leaving me with around 30% and the sales are much better, and the site is always working. Just my thoughts.

General Stock Discussion / Re: iStock is "stealing" my videos
« on: April 22, 2018, 11:08 »
I do not understand why a couple of you in this thread try to defend iStock, do you really think $0.40 for high end aerials, shot with the right knowledge about framing, shutterspeed, aperture, ProRes 4444, etc is ok? I think $0.50 for your images is way to low, but I see that people is accepting this more and more, so I won't argue on that. If a guy with a RED shoot som really nice footage I think he should stay away from iStock and let people with a Mavic or Phantom using shutterspeed as aperture sell their stuff for $0.50 on iStock.

I think your pride is (quite understandably) hurt. But ultimately it's about what the market will pay for your work. Some people are sensitive to price, some people aren't. To maximise income you need to supply both segments of the market. Basic price discrimination.

Not at all, I just think it's unfair what they are doing. The marketing is paying $299 for for about five of my clips every month at Pond5, giving med $149 x 5.  Same at Adobe Stock.  And yes, it was my choice to sign up at iStock, but I do not like it when they suddenly start to "give" away my clips.

General Stock Discussion / Re: iStock is "stealing" my videos
« on: April 22, 2018, 04:46 »
I just need to get out some frustration about iStock. I uploaded my files their until a couple months ago. They have never payed well for photos, I know that. But video sales has been ok, until last november/december. Suddenly all my 4K material, shot with $25.000 drone equipment starts to sell for $0.40. Ten videos sold for that price. I contacted them and the answer was that they offer a special subscription that allow this, and I cannot opt out of selling in this category. The last four months I have stopped uploading both photos and videos to them. Sales at Adobe Stock, Pond5 etc goes as normal, $25 to $100, depending on resolution. For anyone reading this, I suggest not to upload anything to iStock, you are better off.

I can't help feeling that you have overspent on equipment and you might never make a reasonable return on the capital you have committed.

If you read the entire thread you see that I have drones with Alexa Mini, RED and Inspire 2 with X7. My main income is from working with clients who would never use stock footage in their productions. I do therefor travel a lot in car in a spectacular country, making it easy to shoot some stocks with the Inspire 2. I do not understand why a couple of you in this thread try to defend iStock, do you really think $0.40 for high end aerials, shot with the right knowledge about framing, shutterspeed, aperture, ProRes 4444, etc is ok? How is this stealing? You gave them permission to sell your videos, and they have the right to alter their prices or sell them through any iStock affiliated channel.

If you're really pissed off about it, you should delete all your videos from iStock. Easy as that.

Stealing and "stealing" is not the same you know. By adding " " i state that the word is not correctly used.
