I was uploading 50 images to shutterstock today. I uploaded the first 20 via ftp, and submitted them. Then waited while the ftp program uploaded the next 16. When I went to click on the 'waiting to be submitted' button, i noticed that the 'waiting to be reviewed' amount was 0 and not 20. I thought there must be a problem, that they didn't register my images..... but nope, they had allready been reviewed.
Nice work shutterstock.

I just looked at my microstock graphs I keep track of, and realized that Fotolia is soon going to reach it's first $100 worth of earnings (not including referral and upload reward program), which means, that in $7.00 it is going to pass Canstock for all time earnings (yes I am still waiting for my first payout at canstock).

Looks like dreamstime is really looking for expansion. The upload limit is now (today anyhow) set to 100. If you have a stack of photos waiting to go there.. today might be the time to do it.

With the recent change of a free image / day, as apposed to free image/week, I thought I would start this poll.
Do you think it is worth it to offer a free image from your portfolio. It would increase portfolio review.. so perhaps it is worth it. I just offered one free image to be used... I will see how it goes, or if it was worth it if it gets picked to be used.

Sounds like there are some things on the horizon, including a new price plan? .. does that mean more $$ for us? a quote for their email which says they are going to add these changes 1) new uploading process 2) new price plan 3) key features from our dedicated 123rf development team 4) affiliated marketing and many more

Is anyone submitting to this site? It looks interesting and like they have been around a little while, but I am not sure i want to bother uploader some shots to yet ANOTHER site if it is not worth my time. www.photospin.com

It looks like 123RF is trying hard to fit in with the other micros. They have started a forum and seem to want to add more submitter features. Perhaps this is a sign of better times. I had such good earnings there in november (better than dreamstime and istock)..but since then, it has been pretty scanty (more like bigstock) http://forum.123rf.com/index.php

Was it you Albert who had a question before. I thought maybe it was. I had problems with the forum a while back and think that thread got erased, becaused I posted a model release in a forum and answered a question but don't see it anymore. Was it your thread?

I have the second canister... which is the one for between 500-2500 downloads. Doesn't that mean that i should be getting $.25 for the smallest image and not $.20??? Here is the link that made me wonder. Look at the chart on the right. http://www.istockphoto.com/projected_earnings.php

Has anyone shot any video for shutterstock yet. I am eager to give it a try.. .. but I dno't have a camera, so I would have to borrow my father in laws. But I am excited to hear how it is going, or if someone has submitted yet.

It seems like every micro site has started with extended licensing (Licensing images to be used for prints, poster, greeding cards, webpage templates and such)
I can't figure out if this is a good thing to opt into or not. Any thoughts?

Wow, it looks like it is site update for everyone. 123RF also has a new site today. They seem to have changed a few things, adding most active photography, and most efficient and such things.
What do you think about the changes?

How do you keyword your images? I have been using Imatch and it makes the process quite a bit easier, however I am interested in hearing what other people use. For those people who don't use a program to keyword their images, or don't keyword before uploaded I would strongly sudjest that you do. It saves lots of time as most stock sites will then, automatically extract the keywords from your image, so you don't have to type them in when you are uploading. This first post is 5 years old now but since this discussion is still current, I'll update it with my current workflow. For keywording research I use: http://microstockgroup.com/tools/keyword.phpThen I simply put the keywords in the IPTC info inside photoshop or Adobe Bridge: File > File Info or Ctrl+Alt+crap+I

I have a few images that are rated 2/5 on Istock. Is it worth it to delete these files so that my overall rating goes up??? Isn't the search rankings somewhat dependant on your rating?
Some of the files have been downloaded very little, so I don't think it would hurt to take those files off, but some of the others have been downloaded a number of times, so I am unsure if I should delete those...
any thoughts?

After the last week or so, fotolia has come to be very close to the #4 producing site for me. Which means only dreamstime, shutterstock and istock are better. That seems pretty promising for a site that just opened. I think they have some really good ideas which are going to make them grow. Any thoughts?

Anyone having any downloads at crestock. I have a few images there (only 10 or so), but no downloads... no surprise I guess though.

I also see in the new terms of service that they are going to begin a CD program where they send the files purchased on CD out to the buyer. This will result in a 5cent per image sent out pay....
That sounds good I think.

I thought I would start a thread about getting started in micro stock in case people had questions. There are a number of people here with a fair bit of experience that I am sure would be more than happy to share any help they can give.
So those new to micro stock... Confusion? Questions?

Wow, from usually geting between 1-7 downlaods a WEEK, i managed to get 6 downloads just today, and 5 of them were for $2.00 print images... good news. Maybe the future is bright for Fotolia.... I wouldn't be surprised.

Well i got the 4X5 today, and am very satisfied so far. I am also very happy that i didn't get a larger tabler. I have configured everything so the mouse pointer on the screen moves about as fast as i think it should, and i am using (Yes i measured it with a ruler) only 1/3 of the tablet... Granted my screen is only a 15 laptop, a larger tablet would be a total waste of real estate both on my desk, and on the tablet, not to mention having to spend another $100 for it.
I think i will be happy editing with it, although I have only just tested it a little.

The last week I have had a canstock download every day. I usually go for 2 weeks without a download... is this a sign of better times I wonder??
