Adobe Stock / Re: June sales
« on: July 05, 2016, 04:57 »
About 33% down on average. Probably due to the demise of the Dollar Photo Club. Not good.

Same here. 30% Summer drop is a normal thing.

Dollar Photo Club was the worst thing that happened to all of us microstockers!
I am glad Adobe killed it!

Comparing full years ending in May (June 2011 - May 2012 vs. June 2015 - May 2016), I'm up 29%.  My portfolio is also quite a bit larger and, I hope, better.

Good to hear!
I am about 20% down but I have started building my video port and
The video sales are very encouraging. If this trend will continue I will
switch to 100% video this year.

54
How did your income change 2016 vs 2012 all agencies in total?
Mine in down by more than 20% since 2012.

56
Thanks for trying it out Karen.
If you can, please post the exact description text you used, so I can have a look.

The image IPTC description field:
Berlin, Germany - May 28, 2016: Description.

I also tried "05 28 2016" instead of "May 28, 2016" with same results

Thanks again for the detailed info and for sending me the example JPGs.

Sorry it took me a while, but yesterday, I've released DeepMeta v2.0.18, which implements the auto-editorial functionality:

http://www.deepmeta.com/Downloads/

When a JPG is imported with title or description formatted as you detailed (the format accepted by most agencies), DeepMeta will detect this and extract all relevant editorial fields. It will also set the "is editorial"checkbox for that file.

The parsing is not trivial, so I'm looking forward to feedback, including examples of metadata which is still not correctly recognized.

Thanks!

Thank you for your work Franky!!!
Just tried to upload an editorial image with IPTC description field as per the guidance.
DM did triggered the "Editorial use only" check box successfully!  :)
though DM did not copy description field's value into DM Caption field and did not choose the country in the list.  :(

Someone just posted in the FB group that if you go to the stuck file, click edit, and save, it unlocks.   Tried it and it worked.
Thanks Karen!

General Stock Discussion / How was your February sales?

My February photos sales were really low across all sites.
iStock especially plummeted like a stone  :(
Only small improvement in videos  ;)

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Easier way to upload editorials to iStock
« on: February 19, 2016, 09:36 »
Is there any easier way to upload editorials to Istock other than DeepMeta? I am using DM at the moment, but for each editorial it requires manually choose country, year, date and day, despite that I already have that information in title place and date stamp (in the format accepted by SS and other agencies: City, State/Country - Month Day Year: Title). Why is it so complicated at Istock? Other agencies pretty much only require to pick editorial Yes/No check box if title already has editorial information. I know you can copy the information between files in DM, but it is no help, because lots of my editorials have different locations/dates. How do you do it for bulks? I can hardly believe it is the only way.

I assume you have this info in the IPTC of your JPG? I'd be interested to know which IPTC field(s) you put this info in. Is it the title or caption field?

If possible, I'd appreciate it if you could send me an example JPG file with such IPTC info. Email to "fdm at eazign dot be". (I'm the author of DeepMeta, by the way).

I agree it would be a big productivity boost if DeepMeta could automatically process this information.

Thanks.
What about iStock's categories?
How to store this info in IPTC of the JPG file?

« on: February 19, 2016, 06:24 »
Not sure if it's only iStock fault.
I have very low sales on Shutterstock from the beginning of this year.
I switched to videos on 2015 and very happy with the results so far.
How many images do you have on iStock?

... I cannot outshoot the flood, only the stock factories will survive.

I stopped uploading photos and switched to videos.
I am really happy with the results! :)

according to the latest disclosure from VCG (Visual China Group): more M&A right after the purchase of Corbis Images, this time is Getty Images

file got from stock exchange http://www.tukusheying.com/info/es_t_20160129111259.html

Perhaps Visual China Group is interested to buy iStock from Getty?  ???

I always switched to classic view to search. New version sucks. I guess no suprise getty went with the wrong decision.
Why to change something that works?
Getty had so few things that work good on iStock site!
Now they have one less. >:(

The classic view tastes great, but the new view is less filling.  :)
Exactly my experience!
SS search usability is the best as of now IMHO.

The classic view was much better and user friendly IMHO.
Personally I don't like the new view :(

For the first time increase my sales on Fotolia faster than on Shutterstock. The times could change. Sure, I can't still make any prognosis. And I am not a professional image producer. But over the years Shutterstock was the engine of my income from photography. Maybe we will see a change at the top?
SS downloads are falling like a stone here.

... less than 1-2 seconds. Instead of being the slowest site for image submissions, iStock will become the fastest.

This will push all marijuana spam ports into iStock within hours :D
