I just posted something underneath the latest photo on their FB wall. Let's see if it disappears.

I just posted as well a comment underneath one of the latest images on their wall. Join us!

I've found that social media seems to get the most attention. I just sent them a message about it on their FB page. Please join in, and if we send enough messages they should get the message. Ha ha.

I also noticed some contributors leave complaints (usually about the site being down) on their FB wall, as comments under the images. If many of us complain about the spam titles right on their FB wall maybe it will annoy SS enough to do something about it? :-\

Adobe Stock / Re: How are your Fotolia sales in October?
« on: October 19, 2016, 08:05 »
My October sales are good. Anyway, my sales at Fotolia suddenly dropped for about 30-40% in mid June, and June, July, August were some of my worst months in a year. After I synced my account with Adobe, my sales increased again, I don't know, if this is just coincidence or it has something to do with it. Now, I know that summersmonths are slow, but that sudden drop was just to big....

As for SS, lokks like I'm going to have BME with $ thanks to 2 EL's and 2 SODs and probably also with number of sales.

Then I'll sinc with Adobe just in case :D

« on: October 19, 2016, 02:26 »
Is it possible (allowed) to sell Editorial image as EL? I'm asking because I had EL sale of Editorial photo yesterday....

I thought it was not, is there a chance it is a SOD sale? I had editorial images sold at thick price as a SOD

I had a worrying gap of several days of no sales but turning into a pretty good month now.

Good to hear someone is having no sales gaps too :) But I had a few of those since the beginning of the month, looks very unusual (and dead at times) considering the steady growth the months before

Is it on par with September and earlier months? I'm used to ups and downs with FT but this October is too quiet, December style. Anyone having the same?

Newbie Discussion / Re: How long until I make sales?
« on: October 18, 2016, 13:57 »
Just proves how bad the new stuff sells these days, and that there is no super duper grace period for newbies  ;)

Your port is nice, i'd keep increasing it and give it some time to see how the sales go in a month or two.

I submitted my batch about 15 minutes ago and it hasn't been reviewed yet, why is it taking so long?  ;)

Adobe Stock / Fotolia lightboxes
« on: October 13, 2016, 16:14 »
Hi all, do you use the lightboxes at Fotolia?
Is it the tool for contributors and does it work like "sets" at SS?

Many thanks

They don't give a crap if few people are doing it... but if we all start spamming titles, they might start doing something. Just a thought.

My thoughts too.. I'd hate to do it, but seems like there are new rules in the competition :-[

« on: October 08, 2016, 15:10 »
Are you contributing to other agencies? Do your Fotolia sales grow?

Why don't you look for critique directly at SS forum if you don't want to share your work here? The truth is out there ;D

Shutterstock.com / Re: SS grace period of 6 months
« on: October 08, 2016, 13:47 »
My experience with SS is also 1,5 years old. I'm uploading as slow as possible (had about 100 photos online after the first 3 months and now just over 400), but overall my income still grows (slowly and September not to count) ;) So I wouldn't really stick with the grace period theory. Not sure why your numbers are stuck at the same level :(

Why they even sent those emails to almost everyone if they are not doing nothing about that.

Something even tells me that those emails simply encouraged more title spam as not everyone knew about the "option" ::)

Shutterstock.com / Re: Are reviewers for real or bots?
« on: October 05, 2016, 15:49 »
I'm also wondering if we owe those quick reviews to bots.. But then it's weird that the bot approves the images that were just rejected by the bot the day before ;D

Hi all,

I would like to know if anyone of you ever reported the ports with spammy titles and if so, has anything been done about it by SS? Does Shutterstock react to these reports?

One of my images used to be #1 under the keyword "Honduras" (don't laugh at me) for almost a year, a few other images of mine were in the first lines and sold a lot, then lately I noticed more and more illustrations coming to the top of the search with spam in the titles, like this portfolio, for instance: https://www.shutterstock.com/g/Aquir

I'm not looking who to blame for lower sales :) I'm just thinking whether it makes sense to report the spammers? And do you think they really make their way up the search because of the spammy titles?

Thanks

Are we in the stock photography business or writing?

If i have to write to sell more photos i would think...what am i doing????

Like go swimming to be able to dance??

Calm down If you have heartburn take some Alka Seltzer it can help...

____
I have been told that on some microstock sites the fact to participate actively to the forum can push your rank up. I don't know if it is true.
For this reason I was wondering if the fact to write in the Dreamstime blog could have a similar effect.

"Are we in the stock photography business or writing? "
"If i have to write to sell more photos i would think...what am i doing????"
So I wonder why you are writing on a microstock forum where you can find useful answers and advices to help you to sell better

"Like go swimming to be able to dance??"
The fact to practice a sport or to have a regular physical activity helps to keep your body in good shape.
Having a body in good shape is very helpful to practice any other physical activity.
So yes swimming can help you to dance better.

(You see, I answer to you questions with answers, not with questions as you do)

Why would you ask the question if you're going to get snarky with those that reply?

This is why I think of Dreamstime as an amateur's photo community. If writing silly blogs about your 100th upload and commenting on other blogs with "nice article, thanks for sharing" is required to get sales then let the hobbyists have it and maybe it will die soon.

I roll my eyes at DT blogs. I like to imagine buyers also roll their eyes but if you want to blog about your latest milestone in hopes that it gets you another .35 then go for it.

Reply?
He did not reply, he just asked three aggressive questions.
Answer to a question with other questions is very impolite And surely don't solve nothing.

And as I am educated I have then answered to his questions

For the rest of your answer I totally agree with you, it is exactly like this.
For this reason I was wondering if it is useful or not.

I'd say recently half of the forum has pretty much the same style for answering ;)

I also noticed that views are way down now even though sales are up, their statistics make more sense now ;)  Really loving them now, hope they keep the good things up!

I can't log in anymore, it says "Hey good looking, welcome to Bigstock" and then a window for re-entering my password.

Are they hacked or have they always used to greet every contributor with "Hey good looking?" ;D ;D
Not me ....more like "what you doing back again you old fart no sales to see ;-)" would be more appropriate. No problem with site for me

 ;D

Try to enter the wrong password - they will call you good looking too ;) (as long as they are in this flirting mood)
