I'm already in shutterstock, doing quite well as a newbie, now I want to expand to more agencies. I'v heard good about Fotolia. Never really experienced with them fully since i'v got very little files there. What are your best?

Alright so what do you propose?

General Stock Discussion / Just wanted to share this with you all.

While reading the posts on this forum recently I came across a quote from someone that I really found catchy:
" Keeping your photos/vectors on your hard disk won't bring you any money, you better put those on stock agencies. No matter how much they bring, keeping them on your disk would never bring you anything after all.
As a new microstocker. I really loved what he said because ther's some truth in it.

Newbie Discussion / Re: SS - upload all at once or slowly?
« on: January 25, 2017, 19:45 »
With such small numbers, it doesn't matter whether you submit all at once or in little batches.  As to whether microstock is worth it to you, it depends a lot on what you hope to get from it.  When I started I made almost nothing; it took months before I reached double digits of dollars.  But I learned a lot, both in terms of improving my basic technique and in figuring out what had a chance of being accepted and what might sell.  That education kept me going for quite a while, long before my sales were anything to write home about.  If that's true for you, and if you have a thick enough skin to deal with regular rejections as you learn, you might find value even if the money isn't significant.  And who knows?  You might be a big success.  It does happen, even if it's less common than when a lot of us started.

Duuude where do you get thoses babes from lol!!!

General Stock Discussion / Anyone here knows if.....

Just wondering if reviewers( or agencies in general) give priorities to the best quality images even if they are new?
Like for example i upload an image with intense level of quality and demands, do they push the image up since they know what sell better.????

hey all
i want to know how many vector files should i have to make at least $100 per month ?

One is enough. But it has to be a good one.

Is it possible to have a link to that one image that brings you 100/month?

Doing all those things for two years and get nothing in return! This business is a business of fear and hope.

If you are looking it purely from a financial point of view, it makes sense, even if it's highly unlikely that after 2 years and a reasonable portfolio you will get "nothing in return".

However, if you experience some amazing places and meet wonderful people along the way, regardless of whether you make anything, perhaps it will all be worth it?

ur right, it's all an experience in itself.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Is this legal?
« on: January 09, 2017, 05:21 »
No, unless you have an agreement to transfer the copyright and you would have to pay a lot for that, if you can find someone prepared to do it.

I don't understand why i can't re use an image i bought commercially! Which law says this?

General Stock Discussion / My goal is this:
« on: January 09, 2017, 03:10 »
As a second part of my recent post on how things were not so good for me, I'v tried to change my view on microstock. What i can sum up from all the replies i got from you amazing people out there is microstock is not a 'get rich quick' game (as we'v always heard). So my goal is this: Work as hard as i can, creating 'quality' contents  in several agencies for like 2 years. I mean it! Two years full of sweat. Then after that two years, when i'll have a huge port in some several agencies, by that time i'll already know what my niche is exactly and if things don't go well after these two years, i'll have to drop microstock. It's like "building for the future" scheme. I guess in 2019 things will be different if I start NOW! For now i can only dream of a very decent revenue from micro, but all dreams come with work and sweat. Wish me luck for I really hope reaching big one day.
You know what is bad? Doing all those things for two years and get nothing in return! This business is a business of fear and hope. We don't what awaits. But i think we have to sail through the waves to reach that beautiful, calm, peaceful island!

encrenciel,

You can succeed but it's hard work.  Here is the formula:

- Focus on industry specific concepts;
- Research your concepts completely - competition, trends, industry, etc;
- Create with essential keywords in mind;
- Fly with eagles. In other words, try to surpass the best examples you can find because mediocre work doesn't sell and creating it is a waste of your time;
- Go exclusive with Getty /  iStock;
- Have fun or don't bother.

Cheers, -m

I see lots of negative assumptions concerning istock. Well i know for everyone it's not the same story, but going exclusive with them is not a good idea for a starter i guess! I might be wrong tho!

Well i'm not so experienced in micro, have been on for about two years now, uploading on and off. This last 3 months i'v seen lots of progress, increasing amount of dwl, and each month turn out to be bme. This December was the best ever. Then yesterday i read about how things are not really what they seem to be! I read that things are good for newbies only, those of the .25 group. I swear i'm getting sales more than ever every time i increase my port. But....! I'm afraid. Am I losing my time to get nothing in return in the long run? Am I being fooled with those daily dwl? What is the reality of the 'success' i am witnessing daily? Please share with me your experience. I made a resolution to take this business real serious this year. Am I doing the right thing? Some of my vectors are on the first page on shutterstock. I'm more of a calligrapher, I don't really upload photos that are over rated in most agencies like nature, business, etc. I do fonts, calligraphic logo, arabic calligraphy, vectors in general. For the moment my only agency is shutterstock. Should I continue or not. Advice me. Thankxx

Things are exactly what they seem to be, if you know where to look. Taking business seriously and taking it to the right direction is not necessarily the same thing. What is your target income?

BTW use more than just a single agency, that's common wisdom IMO.

Well since
I'm not so oldie in this i cant target big things for the moment. So let's say a $500 monthly would be great. Yea it would be great but is it attainable Today, let's say several agencies combined? Share your experience.

Thanks a lot, i'm glad to hear these...And yea, i'm not depending in MS as my sole revenue...of course not lol!
What do you do other than MS btw?(Things that are linked to photography and designing)

All seems pretty reasonable. There's nothing too out of the ordinary or controversial in there (like we'll all have robot butlers and flying cars by next year), I guess they're just seeing the way things are going in 2016 and extrapolating for 2017.

You removed all your files from shuterstock??

General Stock Discussion / Re: How do you manage?
« on: December 04, 2016, 11:07 »
Thx and yea it seems more obvious one size for all. But again, the 'zip' thing slow down the process a bit since shutter doesn't ask for that but fotolia does. As far as envato is concerned, i'm only starting there now based on the earnings rating on the right. I see envato is in some good position. Which are your best agencies when it concern vectors?

General Stock Discussion / How do you manage?
« on: December 04, 2016, 08:03 »
Can anyone illustrator here help me in sorting this out. I'v been with shutterstock for a long time. Now i want to expand the agencies to which i upload. The issue is, the regulations are bit different for each agency. For example, with shuttestock when uploading vectors, i set my jpeg previews to 2500/2500 resolution. But when i look at fotolia and envato, their rules are different. How do you manage ? Do you save each files differently for each agency or do you have a shortcut way? Thank you/
