stocksy is more oriented towards an instagram style made of "real " life situation. if you spend your time analyzing their portfolio u see this, and it's clear that they prefer contributors more oriented toward instagram, a grudge and outdoor lifestyle.
that's why i don't understand many people submitting sending photos who have typical micro stock style to an agency who will never consider them.
they look for some theme different from their portfolio they have now but with characteristic similar to the portfolio, it's simply clear. sending perfect landscape or cityscape you can find in micro stock won't help you in, or photos with strong blue daylight sky, photo of people who look so fake int here pose won't help you neither. even most of the model u see in the photos looks so different from the model u see in micro stock.

I agree. Models in stocksy photos are ''normal'' people, more like your grandma or neighbour, not people that are generally considered being models

I think there are no rules with dates. Mine was also completed in September and I'm still waiting

Most of those who apply know what they are applying for. I am giving respect for all the competitors and that's why numbers for me are important. If you wanna get in, it's not about being good, it's about being great. A lots of brilliant artists at stocksy have already set the bar high.

It's been nearly 2 months from mine application too, still nothing. Even with the numbers higher than 10 accepted contributors this year, it is still a hard competition - I assume they need time, probably a lots of applications and crazy amounts of pictures

I think this thread isn't just about being happy. It's also about creativity, daily challenges, competition and totally depending on microstock income. Contribution isn't my only source of income and I can only imagine how frustrating it can be today, for all those whose are. I really believe it's normal for things to change with time. It doesn't necessarily have to be for the right reasons and it doesn't have to be a good change. Microstock sites growing so fast in the last years could only lead to one thing - too many images - big mess. The quality of images on almost every microstock site today is pretty questionable. Don't get me wrong, I still believe there are many great artists on microstock sites. It's just so sad that they often get lost in that big messy competition.

I started uploading about a month ago and my answer is the same: upload as much as you can. The sooner you upload, more money you will be able to earn.

More important thing than first 100 photos is to continue taking and uploading new ones.

Zanima me da li mi netko moze pomoci vezano za primanje uplata za stock usluge iz inozemstva (US, Kanada, UK). Imam opcije primati uplate preko bankovnog racuna (pau�alni obrt) - da li je ovo bolja opcija nego uplata na Skrill, Payoneer itd. obzirom na ukupni iznos placenog poreza? Moram platiti PDV na uplate bez obzira na to sto mi je obrt van sustava PDV-a, ali vise od toga ne znam.

Na koji nacin vi primate uplate i putem kojeg servisa?

This is very interesting. I also started uploading 20 days ago and with 70 images (uploaded during last 20 days, not all at once) i have 20 downloads.

I think it doesn't have to do anything with newbies but more with the new content. My new content always sells in a few days following the approval.

I discovered microstock world about 11 yrs ago, while still a student, but used it mainly as a graphic designer for my clients. Few years ago I decided to open my own contributor port. It didn't take me long to realize that was the worst possible time to do it. I read about it on every forum, blog, was shocked with contributor stats over the years... Looked like the ship was sinking. I decided I won't give my precious time to something that is being slowly killed. My portfolio with just a couple of pics uploaded was there for about 2,5 years.

A month ago I decided to start uploading again. At the same time I uploaded photos on IS and on SS (ofc 5% more on IS as they didn't reject any single one). I have a small port of about 100 photos. In the last 30 days I earned 5 times more on SS than on IS. No need to say more.

But there is a catch. Every one of us knows that our photo is worth more than 0,25 (or 0,02!). So selling it for that amount of money doesn't make any sense. But for someone who lives in a country where average monthly salary doesn't go beyond $50 or $100, it does make a lot of sense. It means they can get to that number with a lot smaller port than I would be happy with.

We are all living in a different places and our living costs vary. It can sound stupid that someone still stays on IS and earns peanuts, but for them it might not be peanuts at all. It's not the same thing living in Singapore or in Madagascar.

But here is my question: do you have your own website with portfolio for selling photos or microstock sites are the only place they are available? Is this even worth time and effort?

My portfolio is pretty small at the moment. I'm a graphic/product designer but also studied photography on my University/college.

I am often in need of others' stock photos - at the moment I am definitely more of a buyer than a seller
