Got my business page going on Facebook:

http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Denis-Pepin-Royalty-Free-Stock-Images/152794394822012?sk=wall&filter=1

Denis

Funny I was just looking at that and there are all the rules about one account, no timeline, it looked  kind of odd that a person couldn';t have a personal and a business account atthe same time.

Did I read that wrong?

Something I'm missing here.

"Please be aware that managing multiple accounts is a serious violation of Facebooks Terms of Use. If we determine that an individual has more than one account, we reserve the right to terminate all of their accounts. "

and

"Business accounts are designed for people who only want to use Facebook to administer Pages and run ad campaigns. For this reason, business accounts do not have the same features as personal accounts. Business accounts have limited access to information on Facebook-when using a business account, you can view all the Pages and Social Ads you own, but you will not be able to view profiles (timelines) or content owned by other people. Business accounts cannot be found in a search, and the owner of the account will not be able to send or receive friend requests."

and

"You will not, however, be able to view the profile (timeline) information of any other users or add any other applications to your account. For example, business accounts can't be used to add friends, send messages, or interact with other Pages. Your account will not be visible in search and other users on the site will not be able to find you and add you as a friend. "

So what can I do, if people can't find me, search for me, I can't add people and I can't view or interact with others. Does that mean, it's just for ads and promotion and nothing else? And last of all, I'm repeating this... Business accounts cannot be found in a search

RacePhoto, pages are created from your main account. So you do not create an extra account with a different email address and therefore does not violate the rules. You access your pages also from your main account and can then choose to "login" as page administrator to make changes to it (all from the 1 account).

Nice page Denis! What option did you use to promote it? Are there free promotional choices, except for just using your own contact list?

Once your business page is setup, through a link, you can invite all your friends to see your new page. Therefore, because it is free, needless to say that as many friends as you can get the better it is. However, you have to be careful in finding friends, because the automatic "Facebook spam police" will cut off your friends finding tool for 48 hours if you get too many warning messages. I know as it happened to me last night.. . I'll be more careful next time..

As well, on the business page, you get a "promote with an ad link" which I have tried for $10.00. Basically, once you click on that link you get this amazingly easy intuitive interface to build your little banner ad in a snap ready to go and be pushed to all Facebook's fans out there up to 800 millions of them if you want.
However you better not think that big because it may cost you that much to push your ad to that many.

All you need is a credit card or a PayPal account. You simply tailor your ad to the audience you want. You get to chose your "target audience" by choosing their countries, languages, interests by putting in keywords, ages etc... after which Facebook calculate automatically your target audience which could diminished from 800 millions to a few thousands.

Then you chose to pay by either each time someone click on your ad or each time so many thousands impressions occur. I have put in $10.00 just to test it...which will give me approximately 15-20 clicks. It is approximate because the price of the click can vary between $0.50 and $1.00.

At first this seem expensive, but you can target your audience so well that I am not sure yet if it is that expensive. So far, I got only 5 clicks in the last 24 hours, from that ad, but each one really did spend a lot of time on my site. Many other visitors came from Facebook, this forum, some other photography sites and a few odd ones from google. Oh yes, I did email some of the sites that already had my photos displayed on their sites, specifically the ones with no credit, and thank them for using my photos and gave them a link to my site...some of them email me back with good words about my site.

Thank you for the detailed info. I do not sell direct, so my page (very simple) is just to supply the link to my portfolios to try and add some traffic to my ports. My friends however are "real" friends (who are not stock buyers), so I will not go that channel. Just wondered if there was another easy free way to promote your page, as I would not want to spend money on it.

Best of luck with your efforts! It seems like you already had a lot of positive response. Keep it up!  ;)

Thanks for the description. I've just created a campaign and I'm excited to see the results.
Love the possibility to pinpoint the target audience much more precisely than with Google ads
