Title: $75 sensitive use?
Post by: Phil on December 24, 2012, 09:11
anyone know of anything else apart from sensitive use that gives a $75 commission on SS?

Not complaining one bit but I have what appears to be a sensitive use licence on an illustration of chocolate :D

There must be other licences than sensitive, because I had one of these fat ones of a golden retriever.

And I had a $90 download for an image of my cat!

Maybe the retriever is a feeling loving kind sensitive dog and cares about how it's image is used? How would you like your photo on a heart worms medication advertisement?  ;)

Cats are confused, but "feeling"?  ;D

Yeah, I'd love one of those $75 sales. But instead I'll take my steady trickle of subs and be happy.

The Individual Image Licenses can include an option for Sensitive Use but that doesn't automatically mean they are being used in that way. Here's a link to a Shutterbuzz post about the subject http://www.shutterstock.com/buzz/individual-image-licenses-update (http://www.shutterstock.com/buzz/individual-image-licenses-update)
Kind regards, David.

Edit to fix wonky link (I hope!)

It looks kinda sad:

Could be some new anti depressant drug for pets?

Clearly, they bought the cat to make a composite with the dress-up sunglasses (http://www.shutterstock.com/pic.mhtml?id=806937) I sold a sensitive or "other" license for:

With apologies to Steve Heap's lovely cat :)

I also had a $75 single download for this image:

I don't understand how "sensitive use" can apply to that particular image, but I am not complaining about the $75. On that particular day (17/12/2012) I had no less than 6 single downloads for large amounts, though not all of them $75.

An SOD sale does not mean a sensitive use application.  SOD stands for Single On Demand.  That is, it's a single image sale that Shutterstock has negotiated a special price with the buyer, usually large, high volume agencies and the like.  Sensitive use images fall under this type of sale, but so do any other type of images that the buyer has a particular need for that fall outside of the other pricing venues that SS offers.  I've had several sales of this sort, the highest being $112, but several in the $75-$90 range.  None of them could even remotely be considered for sensitive use.
