Since about a week I am missing the "Status of your submitted images" emails from Shutterstock, though image batched have been processed as I can see on their website.

Anybody else is missing these emails?

I already asked Shutterstock via contact form and Twitter, no reply yet.

Thanks in advance,
Robert

My pending batch disappeared today from the submitters' home page as well as in the pending batches overview.

SS name should be changed to BC....Bug City. But sales are still better than anywhere so I'll give them some slack.  some bugs have been there for months and months.

Uh, did anyone report this to SS even if they already know about it?

I think more people should report it to speed up their IT team!!!

I just checked my spam filters and the e-mails aren't there. Nothing for the last several batches (but they are showing up in my portfolio, including some uploaded yesterday and approved this morning)

I didn't really see much value in the emails anyway.

There is no "drop down" menu any more to chose between photos or illustrations, in "Most Popular Images"...

Same here, I have contacted  support. A bit too many bugs lately, no?

I had a batch of 7 that disappeared entirely as soon as they were approved (even after a later batch was approved and was visible). However the first batch has magically re-appeared and is now visible in my port and on searches.

Interestingly the first batch is actually placed after the 2nd batch, in my port and on searches, although the file numbers would suggest otherwise. Images must be indexed by when they appear rather than file numbers.

Looks as if they have fallen into the trap of "improving" the site recently and providing "cool features", like somewhere else I can think of where the need for coolness constantly trumps the need to have things working  ;D

Your experience heightens my suspicion that this is an indexing problem caused by out of sync servers. I don't think SS does anything to restore these images, they simply wait until all of the servers get back into sync. I am noticing the time that it takes for ports to display missing images varies by days.

The nasty part is that I fear these problems have to do with library growth. If we think of it, SS was the most stable and functional agency in all these years. Suddenly, without any obvious reason, the missing images problem appears. After a while again and then again, even more often. The only thing that changed radically in this time is the size of the library. We can only hope that SS' software is able to cope with even more tens of millions of images, because to me it looks like it's losing it, lately. After missing images now missing confirmation emails, also missing responses from support when asked about what the hail is going on.
Unfunny.

SS has a responsibility to make sure its site is fully functional for all of its contributors, if they accept images from us, we should expect that our images will be indexed and available for sale in the same time frame as every other port on the site. Some ports have not been affected by this bug while for some of us the bug issues have been severe and long term.

Unfortunately I agree with you about the scalability issues, although I do not agree that the problem has come on suddenly.  The missing image and keyword issues have been occurring for multiple years, however the scope of the problem is growing. Missing images are showing up consistently and frequently and the issues are affecting higher numbers of ports.  Therefore it is simply visible to greater numbers of people.

It appeared suddenly, just not now. Some 2 years ago, around that. And it kept on appearing since then. They still haven't figured out where the glitch is, in all this time.

I don't know much German, but generally I've been able to figure out what they are about.

I have been having issues for much longer than two years. I think they know exactly what the problem is, they just do not want to spend the funds to put a nail in it. They would rather spend money developing data systems and beefed up search engines to maximize profits for the co.  If they cared about how these bugs have been negatively affecting us they would have prevented them from occurring in the first place and at worst they would have solved the problems over the multiple years they have been growing increasingly widespread and frequent.

Don't be ridiculous. This issue has been around for a few months at best. It appeared to have been resolved but now has reappeared. SS has an almost unblemished record of site functionality ever since it has existed, certainly way better than any other site.

I've been with them since 2004 and my income over that period has steadily increased with the size of my portfolio, culminating with what is now an inevitable BME this month. The amount of downtime they've had since I've been with them could probably be counted in hours on one of my hands. If other agencies were this good, this reliable and treated their contributors just as fairly then we'd all be doing a lot better than we are.

Jon always stayed on top of the IT department and made sure the site was functional and stable.

Considering the the amount of visitors, buyers, contributors and especially files I simply cannot see SS intentionally screwing things up. It would hurt them too not providing functioning tools to us as SS especially makes a good chunk of money with newly uploaded content.

I absolutely do not agree with you and if you search the bug forum you will find submitters reporting the same problems years ago.  Count yourself lucky you have never personally experienced them yourself.

i cant believe that everyone comes over here to complain about this when in a matter of seconds on the SS Bugs forum they could get an answer! ???

Dear Contributors:

There is a known issue in regards to the automated confirmation email(s) of recently reviewed batches. We are currently working to resolve this issue at this time.

As a reminder, you may log into your contributor account at any time at http://submit.shutterstock.com in order to check the Status of Your Images. Under the Stats tab, click on "Status of Submitted Photos", go to "Rejected photos", and choose the corresponding batch. All of the reasons will be listed there.

Once more information is available, I or another member of our staff will post an update here.

It's probably because we've all been lobotomised.

 ;)

I see, that explains why those mere seconds turned into a seven day wait for an answer from SS in the Bugs forum. On this one we were lucky, many of the questions in that forum get no response at all from SS or at best platitudes that deny or ignore the real issues.
