Hello,

I recently left DT exclusivity to spread my wings. I was finally accepted at SS on my fifth try (since 2007).  Within the first five days, I have 58 downloads, which is more than I'd ever had in a month on DT, even while exclusive.

I'm happy about this activity, but it also a bit nervous that it won't keep up.  From what I've read so far, sometimes uploads get immediate sales and then fizzle out.  I'm looking to find out if this is the case and what your experiences are so far with SS.

I've posted this same question on the SS forum, with only one response.    :-\

Happy to be here!!!

 :)

You really can't know  is the answer :)

Shutterstock will sell useful images for many years. As with all sites, some images just don't take off. Keep producing and uploading

In 2013 I had many months where I added nothing and I was pleased to see how well income held up

YMMV of course

Thank you Jo Ann.  I'll keep my fingers crossed and keep plugging away.  It's a step in the right direction to finally be accepted at least!

Photos that were accepted in all other sites, are rejected in shutterstock.
The rejection ration is too high.

Just keep uploading and improving your quality and your sales will continue to raise - it's not rocket science. Just good ole fashion hard work... 8)

From my experience, if there's a lot of it already, it's luck. If photo is niche or unique, it will definitely sell again and again.

I have not uploaded anything for almost a year and the sales have not changed. But my portfolio is very small so it is not very representative :)

I'm another fairly new user at shutterstock, my experience has been mixed. Yes the sheer number of downloads is way higher than what I've seen at many other sites, but then most of them are going in the 25 a day plan so moneywise it's not that amazing (not complaining though). There have been some images that never sold on other agencies but have been sizzling at SS. However there are others that have barely sold and I doubt they will in the future either.
