Dear Zero Talent and Jon Bull:

During the time you guys have been endlessly ranting about each other, you both probably could have created and uploaded at least 10 new images.
Or 10,000 spammy ones ;-)

Wrong.  8)
"Most" Russians do that only in your biased mind!
And, FYI, spamming is not just about food and still life.

Check the attached example of another "non-Russian" spammer: effectively hundreds and hundreds of cogwheels and gear stuff, shot from every angle imaginable: https://www.shutterstock.com/g/chris56

Like there is not enough competition out-there, he also feels the urge to compete with himself. This is also what I call "shooting yourself in the foot" or "killing the goose that laid the golden eggs" or "cutting the branch you are sitting on"

My 1st 'Active videos' page shows only 55 clips instead of the normal 100. (The other pages gives 100)  half of the 55 have no title and keywords, and I have 45 missing clips that were approved days ago and not showing.  Anyone else seeing this?

..seems you want defend russia more for political reason..as i see in your history you are active more in politic than stock..:))

Lol, what you fail to understand that I defend logic, facts and open-mindedness. Not Russia!  ::) This is hilarious!  ;D

Just to make this clear for you: in my opinion, Putin is a fascist dictator, who has regularly eliminated (physically!) his opponents both in politics and in media, home and abroad (therefore he is a serial killer), who has illegally occupied territories belonging to sovereign countries, who is leading an online troll army designed to mess with the minds of weak people, at home and abroad.
Is this statement "defending" Russia enough for you?

Anyway, you continue to invent numbers, like 50% of Russians are spammers, like Russians are spamming 50 times more than Americans, etc.
I am convinced that you will continue to believe in your bogus "theory", no matter how much others will try to explain you how wrong you are. For some, belief matters more than facts! And you are one of them!

And that Swedish guy has some good stuff, indeed, but he should have only uploaded 1 tenth of his port, because 90% is spam.
This is why I said that he "killed the goose that laid the golden eggs"!

Rest assured, I'm not writing all this for you, but for the rather large audience of this dispute.  :P

so let's see ...with a minimal search of 5 minutes i found a group of user who uploaded 1% of entire ss portfolio, who practically *removed coarse language* up completely the food and celebration category, one of the most important in micro, which just 5 years ago of those 1800000 images probable less than 100000 would have been accepted....

now please i want 1.800.000 million images produced by swedish photographer mostly spamming....if you can't find u lose.

this is their tactic...cheating....if you haven't been on this country or haven't dealt with soviet people please stop talking, because simply you don't know what you are talking about. cheating is an art there....they upload similar images not in the same time....as you can see they spam during a lapse of time...so similar images are spammed not in one page but in different....is an art:)

You already said that I won! You can't take that back. What are you? A 7 years old?

Nice way to "prove" that 50% of Russians are spammers (or maybe even 100% as you claimed later) by giving only 2 examples from Russia, but 6 from Ukraine and 1 from Italy (!??)

You only managed to match the 2 American examples I gave you. So from an example point of view, this is a draw  :P

It looks to me that you are not so much interested in the definition of "spamming", since you defend the obvious spamming of that Swedish guy. You are rather frustrated by very large ports.
That's a different story. You keep on jumping around from one story to another.

So... what about your previous claims, about low production costs, as the root cause for spamming? Now you changed it and you just declared that cheating is part of the Russian way of being!

this is their tactic...cheating....if you haven't been on this country or haven't dealt with soviet people please stop talking, because simply you don't know what you are talking about. cheating is an art there....

Don't you see how xenophobic that is? My God! Who are you?

Oh wait, what am I doing here? I got carried away. You already said that I won!
So... many thanks for graciously conceding your defeat!

Your're such a good sport!

I think there is a huge misconception here of what spamming really is! now I personally know a whole string of editors, not crappy-reviewers but real editors with Getty, Blend, SPL, Offset, etc. The way they explain spamming in pictures ( not keywordings) is if they are more or less identicals!!  now thats a vast difference from lets say X have got 100 pics of the same subject but not identicals. thats NOT spamming!...so 200 pics of a Hamburger but from different angles thats NOT classified by an editor as spamming.....
An art-director in an ad-agency gives you a brief and he exoects you to return dozens of shots from underneath the subject, above from the sides and so on.

However the spamming of pics according to editors are not so bad much, much worse, 1000 times more damaging for a search-engine is the spamming of keywords, cloggs up the whole sort-order.
Agencies dont ban you for similar not even identical pics but they will certainly throw you out for constant keyword spamming because thats damaging.

This makes sense, the definition is not very clear, indeed.

Anyway, I know what I do. I do my best to select the best photo from my series, even if I might have several that I consider good. Then I only upload the best, maybe a second one if the subject is the same, but the story is different.
This is because I don't want to "kill the goose that laid the golden egg"

This strategy has worked very well for me, so far. Rest assured, my specialty is also full of people who upload almost everything they get on their card.
But they are also those who come here, regularly, to complain about drop in sales despite their so called portfolio "growth"!
That's because their golden egg goose is dead already! Suffocated!
And they usually blame some conspiracy or, believe it or not, specific nations  :o for the demise.

PS, Shelma, yes, I had several SODs today.

"killed the goose that laid the golden egg".   only today some 15 years after micro and with almost 1 billion files floating around the internet that saying dont apply, there are no golden eggs left!  they were killed off some years back!...today its just a matter of riding along and hope for the best!...agencies with their constant slashing of prices, image-theft by millions, thousands of "budding" newbies joining every month have finally put a stop for our golden eggs!

I came from Stones and Image-Bank when Getty took over in 2004, seen the company go from excellent, fantastic! down to todays absolute rubbish! and this slope very much reflects todays micro-world, SS, IS FT, DT started years back and was terrific!!  we all earnt a lot of money. Today??? well judge for yourselves?....

The guru and godfather of advertising Ian Ogilvy, owner of the giant AD_firm O&M once said, " if you got it, flaunt it!!  great advice in my books!

just saying people.

Yes, it's easy to dream back to the good old days when there was no competition...

But when a portfolio, although good and of high quality, consists 90% of the same subject matter, what can one really expect?
