hi all,

I notice that you can opt-out this back-up cd plan..it pays you $0.05.

but why some people may want to opt-out?

is it because there is higher chances that our images in the cd will end up somewhere like ebay or it would have passed on and someone may just mis-use it?

possible to hear why you will opt-out?

to me I think the back-up cd seems will end up in some places for someone who mis-use it one day.. and i may just opt-out for that $0.05

Don't know for sure, but it still appears on the SS payment link. Take it from there.

ya i still get one recently..

the amount is $0.05, some are tax so i end up $0.03..

it doesn't make sense to me to opt-in..and the volume is so little that happen 1 time in 1 month or few month..

but it makes me feel it is not so good that your images will be circulated in cd...

what do you think?

no one think that a back-up cd will have higher chances to get mis-used or end up in ebay?

Why? If they had that in mind it would be vastly cheaper for them to burn the CD's themselves __ they've already downloaded the images to their HD anyway.

then i wonder what is the reason they make it option? why some people may opt out?

usually make it an option means some people had against it..just want to know why.

Because SS have an extraordinary track record of being sensitive to their contributors' concerns. The CD back-up was introduced following customer requests but Jon didn't want to force contributors to agree to their work being sold in an additional format. I don't know why any contributor would object but you can guarantee some will always dream up conspiratorial theories.

OK here's mine. I didn't have a CD backup for a nickel, for about two years. We start talking about it and I get one yesterday. That's strange.  Wink

"mtkang" ....possible to hear why you will opt-out?"

There's usually a time lag between a customer buying an image and agency sending CD backup, so if you don't like possibility of deleting an image and then seeing there's a CD backup of it X # of days later, that would be a reason to opt out sooner rather than later.   It's a long shot that anyone would care about this, though, since client already has digital dl.
