Title: Commercial or Editorial
Post by: grace on October 11, 2017, 00:04
Hi everyone, I have a question regarding the Commercial or Editorial. I have a photo it mostly accepted in A,B,C agency and it under commercial, but agency D not accepted it as commercial it requested artwork property release.

May I know can I sell as commercial on A,B,C agency but sell editorial in agency D? Thanks

Need to check the specific licensing agreement terms on A, B, C and D.

Most likely it shouldn't be an issue. What would be an issue is licensing one as Royalty-Free and another as Rights-Managed, regardless of whether it's commercial or editorial.

Let me guess, SS and BS. They got very picky with certain things, not even editorial would work. Example: you can sell a photo of a person but not a photo of a handicraft made by that person. I think it comes down to lots of trademark issues, for example the Maya women launched a lawsuit because their textile pattern was used by a clothing company. That will cut down on themes, again. But if the handicraft is part of a big picture is ok, not when photo is focusing only on a certain item. Photo themes are getting cut back more and more, sooner or later everybody is going to shoot sliced veggies only.
