Some On Demands, one 4K video sale, so it's a nice start of the month for me. Not in terms of download numbers though.

How can you know that a video sale is 4K?   I don't see the size at video sales

It was a sale in the $50 range, so that can only be a 4K sale.

Is it for sure? I've had $150 sales on clips only available in 1080p

Getty btw hardly ever sell 4K and thats strange considering the kind of buyers they have.

My results are quite different.. This year on Getty, I sold more 4K than any other sizes.. 1080p is a close second though.

Yes I have had some 4K sold as well at GI. On the whole though 1080 is the best seller by far.

this month's projected income looks like a nightmare, knowing that the second half has so many vacation days no one is going to work... I was steadily rising in terms of sub dl's every month since summer (not rising in income however)...

My speculation is that: because my best selling shooting (of all time) was shot on Nov 15, it gave a big boost of sales. I've heard that image sales drop after their first year in circulation so maybe that's the main reason to see this. Didn't expect it so sudden however.

There is really no good way to tell.  I've had videos sell for around $100 that are not available in 4k.  The only way I know of to tell if it was a 4k sale is if you make $59.70 because that is 30% of the listed 4k price.

I normally make around $23 per video sale, never had $100 for those. Is that some kind of special sale?
The amount I received for my sale was $55.87.

Apples to apples:

First 12 days of Dec 2016 is down 47% on the same period 2015 and 58% down on 2014.

Fortunately a couple of other sites are picking up the slack to a degree, but it's going to be a lean Christmas at this rate.

Since the summer, and after what appears to be three arbitrary search changes that haven't been in my favor, the Shutterstock bubble appears to have finally burst.

I compared last year December, not to mention December over 8 year!!! I'm here very long, and was very successful. Now I can't say that.

Join the club.  "WAS very successful " won't get you much sympathy around here.

30% down from 2015 and 2014, but 20% up from 2013, not encouraging, but a lot better than last month

I can agree with you on the rest of the month from today on. Holidays started and until new year, don't expect much to be going on anywhere in the world.

Just under Dec. 2014 and I'm not optimistic that 2016 will match or beat that total. 2016 has passed Dec. 2015. I'll watch and 8% below isn't impossible, but it's holiday week.

Not the worst, not the best, 2nd of all time for Dec.

I've said before, I'm pretty steady. I can add 1000 photos and money stays steady same. None of us want that, but there's the truth. Add a years worth of new work and nothing goes up or down much. Maybe that's what I need to do just to stay the same earnings where the market has competition adding millions of new images against me?

Volume is way down - about 50% of what it used to be - but money is OK due to ODs/SODs.  Much to my surprise some new images have been selling so I guess that depends on getting the right subject.

Same here.  A few big OD's and a 4k video sale with 10-13 HD video sales helped make my month with SS better than average.

mantis you always say that for each month.,  so basically each month you have big sales saving your month, maybe those regular big sales are just the norm then.

No sales here either.

I remember last year, dreamstime was giving 100% royalties for all sales on Christmas, and I actually had a sale that day netting me 13$. True miracle considering DT is pretty much dead for me.

Pretty much, yes.  Volume is down most always. It's the OD's and such that save me.  When those go, well......we know how that discussion will evolve.
