So - after 12 days with only 23 images online - the first miserly target is reached  Grin
Hopefully it will continue (?) - since I uploaded (and got approved) more images.

With the portfolio of 40 (I got accepted on 3rd February) - which was growing to this size continuously through the month, I got around 240 downloads. Old images go down pretty quickly. If an image gets few quick downloads, it can last bit longer but still will sunk eventually. If an image test one or two downloads, it goes down the search results very quickly.

Nice to see so much excitement here - but be aware that Shutterstock's subscription and search algorithm model condenses long term sales into short term sales; in other words files can do very well for a month or two but then sales will dry up.  You have to keep the beast alive with new uploads on a regular basis.

Whereas with agencies such as IS, DT and possibly FT a file can generate an income for four or five years, with SS all of those future sales happen in a month or two due to the mad rush by subscribers to maximise their monthly image allowances.

SS is great for a short term rush of adrenalin, but its a poor long term investment.

If you stop uploading for a couple of months your sales will drop dramatically - by 70% or more.

That's all you'll love  Grin
SS is a permanent one night stand.
DT is your wife.
CanStockPhoto is your ailing grandma.
IStk is your mother in law  Shocked

hatman12 & FlemishDreams: I'm aware of that, but it's still nice to see your pictures sell  Grin Also they got a few downloads so they are quite high in the most popular rankings (at least for now).

Perhaps Crestock & FT are like kids.  Worthwhile but can be frustrating at times

I know - I need to keep uploading. No big problem here - for now I have plenty of ideas and got two more batches accepted w/o rejections (OK, there was one). But couple of pics are doing very well - and one is on the front search page. Just look for "waterfall". At any case it makes for a nice change - compared to some other sites.
