Topic: Commission from Shutterstock's subscriptions

Hello there,

I had a look at Shutterstock's subscription model.
What does it mean for us photographers?

Lets say that someone buys a one month subscription for 199 USD.
This allows them to download 25 photos a day.

So how do we get paid?

Does it mean that they can get 750 downloads (25x30)?
That would mean that each download is worth 0,26 USD and we get a % off that?

That can't be right... It seems too little.
And what happens with the rest of the money if someone does not download all their photos (which is usually the case)?
Does Shutterstock keep it?

I would appreciate a response if someone understands this better.

Thanks!

You get fixed $ 0.25 a sale (it goes up to $0.33, $0.36 and $0.38 once you reach $500, $3000, $10,000 in total sales).

The rest is the risk and calculation of the agency. Theoretically if someone uses to full quota and happens to download all from a top tier ($0.38 per download) contributor, the commission would actually be more than 100%.
