That's how it looks to me but I never tried this myself.

thanks. 30% tax is too painful as my country does not have any treaty.  :'(

Hey Yuliang,

i believe if you write to [email protected] they can help you opt out.

But maybe it is wise to wait and see..... ss are still investigating some aspects of this... and we should see how it all unfolds

yeah, I agree.  For sure leave the images in until the end of May as that isn't going to be taxed.

You could also leave your images online for June and take the 30% hit and see if things get better, or they have another solution before deleting your portfolio.

SS is currently trying to find some info about tax for non-us sales. They think maybe tax won't be applied to images sold outside US.

They don't have to find... Just they need confirmation due to that it is what are the facts.

;-)

I am staying on SS.... Shutterstock ROCK!

I asked SS this very question.  I got this responce today from them, so yes it looks like opting out is the way to go.

Thank you for contacting Shutterstock Support.

We understand that you have chosen to disable your Submit account, and the
following are instructions on how to do so.  Please remember that you are
always welcome to reactivate your account by emailing [email protected]

As a user with an active portfolio of images, you can do the following:

1) Log into your Submit account at http://submit. Shutterstock.com.

2) In the Tools and Resources section, go to Your Account, and opt out of
all sales types.

This ensures that your earnings payment will be sent during the next payout
cycle, as long as you have reached the minimum payout level.

If you wish to hold off on your next payout, please set the Minimum Payout
field to an amount higher than your current earnings.  This will halt your
payout.

Note that your referral earnings will continue to accumulate, even though your
own images are no longer available to our subscribers.  By opting out of all
sales types rather than removing your images, you will not need to re-upload
the images if you decide to return to Shutterstock at a later time; you can
simply reactivate your images by opting back in.

Best regards,
