The back end has been really crawling some of yesterday and so far today. Anyone else?

Thanks for replying guys, I think something weird is going on with my broadband provider. For some reason some sites were effected more than others (SS and BS particularly), but just now the connection went down completely and the TV is playing up too (it's cable broadband).

Anyway, seems to be back up again for the time being, thanks again and sorry to start a pointless thread!!

I'm on cable broadband too (possibly the same provider as you) and I have several sites hanging up on me, especially MSG as it happens, but not SS particularly. It appears to have been getting steadily worse for about 24 hours.

Funny, you aren't a million miles from me, wonder if it's the same problem. I'm with Virgin Media. Works great when it works, but seems to have problems every few weeks. Strange how some sites seemed to hang more than others.

Virgin Media for me too. I've been with them about 15 years and they are normally about the most reliable and fastest service available.  I seem to be having the most issues on sites that host a lot of external advertising links. Facebook is particularly bad for example (no great loss though!). I expect the issues will be resolved soon.

Maybe it's because of my massive uploading :)

They very candidly told me they oversold in my area and the infrastructure hasn't been able to cope. They've been working on it for a year or so so I get quite regular downtime (normally just a couple of hours at a time). Lucky for them they are the only superfast option round here at the moment. Great when it's on line though!
