YAY!!!  Page says they're working on the message board to make them faster and is down for maintainance.  Hopefully that will help when users search the board as well.  That would be nice.

They have some pretty useless forums over there, too.  A ton of useless pimping, many topics not related to art imagery & video, tons of heated political topics, contributors begging for votes in photo competitions and very little value in the way of critique and real contributor help.  Somewhere between there and Istock would be nice....oh wait, we have MSG:)

The forum is full of junk but there's also some useful information there.  The footage forum really helped me when I first started with video.  There's not as many "show me____" threads in the footage section.  Its just a shame that shutterstock don't sell as much footage as pond5.

Ya know I didn't start this thread for the bs that has found it's way in it.  Not everyone is about pimping all the time.  I'm not one of them.  So sue those of us that like to chat and actually help people out.  I was happy because then the users would be able to search the forum to find answers to their questions instead of posting the same things over and over again like what had happened since the search was messed up.

A lot of us like to help others out when they start out doing this and we couldn't do it effectively while the board was running slow to getting proxy errors.  And some of us like to actually chat with one another.  It's a message board and if you don't like it don't go there it's very easy to bipass.

I completely agree with you Anita.  I used to enjoy the forums but just couldn't stomach a couple of people there any longer.

+1
Thanks for stepping up, Anita.  You'll probably get some flak.  Just wanted to offer some support.   It is frustrating when so many find so much negative to harp on.

Same here, I swear there's a clique over there with a hot line to head office. They seem to be able to get away with all kinds of harassment and get people they don't like banned at will. I remember a newbie posting some particularly vile PMs he got from a (the?) prominent participant on the SS forums.

Curt Pickens is still a personal hero of mine for taking the chief fantasist/ bully on that site down a peg or two on the forum before he quit SS and went over to IStock. Hero.

I too agree that there are things/people that I try to avoid while I'm there.  But that's the only place I've really gotten any help or encouragement from.  Sometimes you just have to  Roll Eyes and move on.

And the forum still runs like crap and the search function doesn't look like it was even touched.  Doesn't look like much was improved when they took the board down for a few moments.

Anyone else experiencing connection issues. Based in the UK I've not been able to get the forum or home pages to load properly since Friday 27th. Cleared my cache, deleted browser history etc. I can get access to Shutterbuzz but the contributor site loads partially then dies on me. Thought I'd try here before raising a ticket. Cheers.

I didn't even know there was anything wrong with it. I barely have time to check this forum now.  Smiley

Really is there anyone left on the SS forums besides the relative newcomers and the characters who are trying to sell them something?

A number of posts were removed from the thread due to black humor, sorry if the moderation seemed 'harsh', i realize it was just jokes.  It has been a while since anything was removed due to black humor.. probably not since miz was around Smiley  but being an international group, not everyone gets the humor, and death and violence are touchy subjects to joke about.

Thank you, Admin.  Some of those folks are my friends in real life...appreciate you removing the dark humor about them.
