Here (Italy) is for many days that the map does not work. Anyone else?

I don't understand why everyone is upset about that map.

It's fun, but not really useful. I would be fine with the map vanishing altogether, if everything else was fixed. Heck, just fix half of everything else.

It's important because it's symptomatic of an IT Department in disarray. Software breaks, so you roll back to the last working version until you have a fix. You introduce new features, you try them in a sandbox then a test environment before releasing to the production environment.

Exactly, and I don't understand istock, SS, etc. having these kinds of issues when what was said above is SOP for website building. Lazy, or just incompetent IT departments, I guess.

And not only the map. The sales are down again. At least for me

Would you rather they don't report sales when there's no IP address to tell where they are from. Then people will complain that sales are showing in earnings but not on the map. What's your solution to make people happy?

Say what you want...it's called "checks and balances". If the map is reporting sales and the summary isn't then there is a problem somewhere. That's exactly the way I've seen it too, ever since they first introduced the map. Now, the two don't match. Who knows which is right?

Vincent had said previously that the map is not 100% accurate, so I wouldn't put to much accuracy in the locations on it.

This topic is about accuracy of sales locations, not about map sales matching earning summary.

Get that script from the SS forum and you will see a lot of downloads coming from Potwin, Kansas, from a farm in the middle of nowhere.

That place is the IP center of USA. A lot of sales have no other indication but an IP originating from USA. And then those sales will be assigned to that (unlucky) farmer.

I can also locate sales in the IP center Germany (some forest, with no farmer to be harrased), IP center of New Jersey, etc.

I'm not talking about location accuracy. I'm talking about files showing on a map, but not in earning summary. I had 2 of those today. I'm contributing about 2.5 years, and every single file (as far as I know) in those 2.5 years that showed on a map was then also reported on earning summary page.

And since I see, I'm not the only one, having these problems, it's obvious that something is wrong here.

I'm not talking about location accuracy. I'm talking about files showing on a map, but not in earning summary. I had 2 of those today. I'm contributing about 2.5 years, and every single file (as far as I know) in those 2.5 years that showed on a map was then also reported on earning summary page.

And since I see, I'm not the only one, having these problems, it's obvious that something is wrong here.

Most of my video downloads are doubled. Even before these map glitches I systematically got double video downloads. Probably because the clip doesn't go through during the first attempt and the customer is allowed to retry to get what was already paid for.
You don't see these doubles on the map, since they overlap on the same location. By using that script, you will notice a minor time stamp difference between the doubles.
The same thing might be valid for photos: retries.

This file is showing on a map since morning , but when I go to "Earning Summary" page, it's not there (evening now). And there is another file like that, it's on a map but not in earnings page.

Can't it be a retry? Something previously purchased?

I was very happy to see that map was back again, but yesterday afternoon I noticed that some of my images appeared on the "Latest Downloads map", but they are not reported in my "Earnings Summary". Yesterday there was one photo and today there are until now seven (7) photos, which appeared on the Latest Downloads map, but not reported on my Earnings Summary.

Earnings reporting is totally out of order.
Yesterday and the day before I had downloads shown only in daily earnings but not on map nor in earnings summary. I followed the map until these images were pushed away by other downloads but they never showed up on the map. This was the lucky version of this bug.
Today I have downloads on the map but they don' t show in earnings summary.

If you don't check very often your earnings in the time-frame those cca. 10 images are shown on the map, you will never find out about those that are not accounted.
What a mess!

We have been working to deploy a fix but it has proved more complex than originally thought.

The issue is limited to the map. Your earnings data is still accurate. We will update you as soon as we have more news.

Thanks for posting it here. There is one thing though that makes me doubt it was just the map glitch - one of my sales from the map that didn't appear in my earnings yesterday looked too real!

The geo tag for that ghost sale showed a certain location in the north of Mexico, the buyer bought a photo from my Copper Canyons series - this photo is not accounted for in my earnings. And today this same buyer from the same location came back to buy another image from the same series - this second photo is shown in my earnings - so I'd bet it's not just the map issue

how come that something that has been working for years, all of a sudden is broken and its almost too complex to fix. they are obviously changing stuff in the back ground and as a result broke the map. classic example of not having a clue what you are doing and add more band aids as you go along. tech company my hole, ss is rapidly becoming an istock clone, all we need to do now is wait for the sales to drop for the transformation to be complete

The recent issue was that the map was also including re-downloads and watermarked preview images in the display.

Well, if previews were shown, then they also affects popularity, because I also had a new file shown on the map without reported sale, and it has climbed in popularity.

Yep, but I still have problems

Now on my map I have 2 photos without any information about it in earning table.
Even more:
1) I got one sale on map on 31.08.2016.
2) I still see photo on map
3) I see that rating of this one photo goes up. So, image was sold!
4) But, I don't see this image on earning table and do not got any money for it.

Ok, I agree that map is only for fun and for visual effects. But! We talking about money, we talking about Information that is important for contributers... Oooook, map is broken... but why we cannot see information about the sale? Sale happened - information in some contributor table updated. That's all! We do not need nothing more. And I am web-developer. This is not something complicated... even in such huge system like photostock.

Yes you'd think it would be basic stuff...you'd think they could afford to have someone monitoring their live site rather than waiting for their customers or contributors to spot these problems.

I have no idea how one would even tell if the map is broken or not. I just see random images from my portfolio popping up in random places on the map at random times. How would I know if the right stuff is popping up at the right time in the right place?

The map should show the last ten downloads. So if some of these sales are not showing on the map, you'll know.
